    If I'm bank fishing in that area, could I still run the shrimp spinners? Threw some blue fox and squid jigs with no luck

    Enjoyed the video! Do the sockeye run on uneven number years? And in Alaska the sockeye rule on even numbers years?

      @AnglerWestTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pink salmon are odd years. Sockeye are annual.

      No he doesn't, they were a Berkley rod and he is not working for Berkley/Pure fishing anymore.

    Are you aloud to fish from the shore right there for them to

    • @AnglerWestTV
      @AnglerWestTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. We were taking about that while filming. Chris said he doesn't see the bank anglers having much success but it's not clear why. The fish are all over the place by the bank. Go figure it out.

    Does Brads sell just the breakaway part? At some point being used and being in the sun the bungee is gonna lose its elasticity and break. Can I buy just that or have to buy the whole flasher?

    • @AnglerWestTV
      @AnglerWestTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at this time. There is a strong chord inside the bungee. Breakage should not be a problem.

    • @kcp7042
      @kcp7042 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AnglerWestTV the cord isn’t the problem. You need the rubber tubing to get it to hold onto the flasher. And rubber breaks down and gets fragile and breaks. Then you have an 18” cord that doesn’t hold onto the flasher.

      Nothing beats the rhino release. These bungees are an old idea that was discarded by anyone who tried it. It kills the action .

    I’ve noticed all salmon fisherman troll with planers/flashers . Is there no other way to catch them such as vertical jigging, paddle tails, spoons, etc. As an angler from Florida, I’m a little shocked this is the only way people fish for salmon out west.

    • @AnglerWestTV
      @AnglerWestTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Collin, your are absolutely correct. One limiting factor is that when you have so many boats so close to each other it's difficult to fish differently than everyone else. Also, there's no doubt of the effectiveness of 360 style trolling. But of course there are lots of other ways to catch them and others do fish out here with other techniques but those people tend not to share that with others on social media.

      Another way to explain it is matching the gear to the water you are fishing. If you run out to a random patch of bluewater and start throwing a lure around youre not very likely to hook up compared to trolling heavy gear to cover ground. Pull up to a oil rig or wreck and its a whole different ball game. The Columbia is a big river with big water so the techniques you see here are common so that more fish can see your lure. Once you get into smaller tributaries where the fish stack up in relatively small holes its a whole different ball game(and more fun IMHO). Finally, Influencers gotta sell you more gear😉

    What Buzz didn’t have the balls to say is ALL the degradation came from the whiteman. The overkill of early fisheries to feed the canneries in Astoria and other areas was staggering. It was said that boats could not be unloaded quickly enough at the canneries. All the salmon would begin to spoil. So the boats would be turned away. Well the boats simply chucked the entire catch overboard. Go and recatch another. This happened constantly. So again as always it was complete whiteman exploitation of a resource. Buffalo, timber, salmon. Buzz just skipped right over the cause of “degradation”. Yes Coulee Dam was the greatest of the degradation. 🤦🏻‍♂️😑😑😑
