- The Zamboni 552 boasts a massive 17.5 horsepower electric motor that gets to 60mph...never. The 80 volt lead-acid battery pack and the steel frame contribute to its 9750lbs. At first glance this thing might not seem impressive; but take into consideration it works silently and without emissions, can collect 125 cubic feet of shaved ice while simultaneously carrying more than 250 gallons of water, has studded tires, four wheel drive and a snowflake on the steering wheel and it all becomes clear: this is a purpose-built machine that functions brilliantly. Turn the key, release the parking brake and flip the switch to forward and you realize how smooth and surprisingly agile this five ton machine really is.

LOL! great vid of an amazing machine, we're not talking about numbers, horses, 0-60 time, power/weight ratio and all that current stuff. This is a true driver's vehicle, and the emotions it transfers can't be numbered.
My boys have worked hard and dreamed big to prepare this for market. So proud of their perseverance and. Ingenuity.

Nice Ice rink looks like glass when the Zam do the job..but everything s depened on the driver how you adjust the blade .

Its big heavy and sloppy bad for ice maintenance.. I prefer driving the propane
Does the weight of the batteries make it harder to steer? Earlier tonight (my first time) I did a dry cut with a propane 526 earlier tonight and found that their is only a little bit of sliding when correcting for my over steering.
+TyTyson98 battery's are in the front and does feel funny when turning compare to propane but it's more the back that slides out no problem if going too fast can hit conditioner when turning seen It done. If you have propane zamboni and slides out check the studs on tires
+TyTyson98 and a dry shave shouldnt slide that much.. Its when you add the hot water and go over that part it feels very slippery.. If you have any other questions or need help let me know I'm a certified ice operator for a while now train many people. Have fun it's awesome job to work in arenas
Mine was just a tiny bit of slide from my over steering or it could of been the tires squeaking. I think that was just my brain messing with me. This was my first time on the machine and the sliding was only a few inches, but nothing major. The studds on it seem fine, because the machine arrived from Zamboni in may and only has 300 hours on it.
+TyTyson98 ya usually it's because your going too fast but your ice might be rely cold and slippery. At this time of the year our ice is a little more sticky when walking on it it that's good you guys have a good plant
