    Thanks for the tips. I’ve seen a couple fisherman work the rod when slow pitch jigging, so I was a bit confused because I thought the rod is designed to work itself. I’m glad you cleared things up.

    • @DeanSilvester
      @DeanSilvester  ปีที่แล้ว

      if you don't have a slow pitch rod then i guess you may need to work the rod but then you aren't really slow jigging. If you have a legit slow pitch rod and you try to work the rod you will notice the tip almost stays in the one spot as you try to work the rod so its not doing much for the jig.

      Dean Silvester yes. They are very parabolic handling only jigs up to 100g or so. Tip of the rod is a glass blank for sensitivity and flex for nice natural manipulation of the lighter jig and the base of the rod is often made of 100% carbon for strength . Amazing stuff . Check out the Tenryu LJ series . They have an English site as well.

    Yet I have a slow jigging rod rated PE3 jigs 80-160g. Am I slow jigging or light jigging?😉. I don’t think light vs slow is really a good comparison of terms. You are either slow jigging the bottom or speed jigging mid depth. Either can be done with “light” jigs and rods.

    • @DeanSilvester
      @DeanSilvester  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      not true mate sorry. Slow jigging is slow, light jigging is with light jigs and light tackle. The point of slow jigging is to use jigs designed for little to no action and they flutter. Google it mate, you will learn something

    • @bido8176
      @bido8176 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DeanSilvester so if I am
      Jigging a 40-60g slow pitch jig like a Buffalo jig am I light jigging or slow pitch jigging? It’s still a slow pitch jig and rod. I just find these terms funny.

  • @amigocompadre2012

    Great video. Good description. Does winding the amount of cord in one turn of the coil greatly affect the amount of winding during fast jigging? For example, I have spinning reel and for one turn, I wind up 84 cm.

    • @DeanSilvester
      @DeanSilvester  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it does, if you are fast jigging then obviously that makes it easier but if you are slow jigging it just means you have to concentrate not to turn the handle too far around. Just get that rod tip to dip and then back off and go again when it bounces back up

      I really like it mate, very strong and good low profile. The two speed is handy when you are locked up to a big one, can drop back a gear and get some line back. Probably not as smooth as some of the high end tackle but it’s better priced

      @DeanSilvester  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OrcaAngler if you drift with the current that is the only way your jig can be vertical. It is when you drift with the wind that it is an issue. The wind and current won't or most likely are never the same. Just use your outboard to keep your line running vertical.

    • @OrcaAngler
      @OrcaAngler 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DeanSilvester let me understand this, usually i will drift with the current with my outboard turn off. the boat will be turning horizontal following the current where current will hit our boat lee side, i belive u understand this. example current from port side, and boat are drifting to starboard side. i shud be jigging on port right? coz if i jig on the starboard my jig and line will be under the boat. so the question if i jig on the port side how cn i mke it vertical all the time, the moment i start jig my boat drift fast to the starboard and my line will be horizontal from vertical just in 15-20 sec from i start dropping it…

    • @anton2417
      @anton2417 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OrcaAngler yeah you never jig with drift. atleast never light jig with drift since the lures are going to be horizontal like you said.
