Since you have so many axes, you should do side by side comparison with axes in the same league (meaning same length). Would love to see this axe vs a Gransfors Small forest axe vs Wetterlings Hunters axe vs Council Tool Pact axe. See how they all compare doing different tasks.

I think that would be a great video to see. They're all good tools, but it's always nice to see how they really compare.

It's nice to see an actually good sheath. Your father does good work. I spent years doing custom leather work, and I cringe every time I see someone say the default sheaths most axes come with are good quality.

You, sir, are one one of the most skillful axe reviewer i have watched... Your chopping is accurate with calculated notch with respect to the size of the log. Many tool reviewers cannot chop properly thus it is difficult to judge the tool... And i subbed for the exit comment of yours because you did not shy away from faith in this highly secular world... God bless

Nice sheath you made! Good idea to avoid rivots where the edge/blade of the axe is. I´d switch out the button with a leather strap though.

I like the blade angle. The Granfors Bruks small axes I got have a very thin angle. Extremely thin for slicing I believe. Trying to split something with them is an exercise in futility.
They are still good axes. I use a carpenter hatchet when falling trees. I carry it on my belt with a learher attachment on my belt that has a hole in it that the handle slides down in and out easily. I beat it to death pounding on wedges and it's held up pretty good.
I highly suggest reflective orange tape on the handle in at least one spot for when it gets dropped by accident.

Mine hast the same gap there! Good to see that others have that, too. Doesn't matter anyway, I was just wondering when I saw it.
Awesome video by the way! Keep it up!

Enjoyed your video. However, I am one that doesn't like snaps on a sheath. I'm always worried the snaps will pull thru.
I do own the Hulks Bruk AKKA Forest Axe.
Before using this axe, I did reseal the handle and put a leather handle guard on with lace up.
Back to your dads sheaths, they look good, but again if he, your dad can make a better sheath that has No Snaps. I would be interested.
Maybe many people that sometimes uses their tools once in a while don't care.
However, 14-21 days a month I am in the woods practicing Solo Bushcraft.
Rarely do I ever video my projects. Manly due to the distance I hike. I already carry 33lbs. I don't need another 10lbs in camera gear.

Say Heah Eugene, Yeah, I bought a closeout 17" Agdor Hatchet. Infact I got one of your Axe Holster for it. Your right the steel is excellent and it's made very we'll, I guess they dropped my hatchet for the up-grade, The newer ones have the Swedish look where mine is more European. But the large Holster work's great on mine. But I got mine at a great price and it came spot on. I had to put a nice edge on it, but everything like I said was spit on. Infact it's one of my Fav. Bush Craft Hatchet's. But I do have a Small Forest Axe too. But the 1 3/4 lbs. head is great to process firewood and it's compact and that's exactly what I wanted.,,.

it is a direct competitor. literaly chev vs ford. and almost accross the street from oneanother.
I have this one, and a friend has the gransfors version. Most similar.
Both cuts like a laser beam. I strop my edge even. Time willing. Holds such a nice edge!
The geomytry of both is superior plus weight reduction.
      Awesomeness.

love the reviews! and videos of course. Definitely looking forward to a new movie and behind the scenes. Its hard to tell in the pictures but in the video here you can see that the poll looks slightly more rounded than a regular axe. which lends to ease in skinning of animals. an lessens the possibility of tearing the hide. Is the Aneby the same? Just curious. Again it is so hard to tell from pictures as every website seems to have slightly different pictures of the same axes. Anyway, Thank you! as always

Was that log made of butter or is the axe that good 😀 I'm getting one myself I haven't seen a bad review on them great job showing what the axe is capable of and fair play to your father for the exceptional sheaths

  • @kasperwulff
    @kasperwulff 6 ปีที่แล้ว

You got that right. Dont use the back of the axe-head as a hammer on metal - unless you want to ruin both the axe-head as well as the wood - the strokes will deform the wood inside the eye of the axe and make it prone to coming loose ahead of its time. The rounded (beveled?) edges on the back of the head is for stripping the skin off of animals you have cought huntaing - hence the name "hunters axe". And yup: Hults Bruk and Hultafors is the same. And are the worlds oldest axe manufacturer company.

I'm still confused with the two different names. I've looked them both up and they have different websites and apparently different line ups of axes. They're both expensive though fitting in well with the other Swedish axes.

I have no idea which of the three Swedish companies are the best. A side by side by side look at each class of these axe would make one hell of a video series. I just hear all 3 are good axes but never the advantages each axe has on each other. I'm talking wetterlings, gransfors bruk, and hults.
