You need to remember that all HE hits get the damage modifier.
I.e. 2 inch template = +2 pen.
Hitting vets only needs 3's. Also D3 pins.
Also the german vehicles you didnt asd movement penalty. And got hits the shouldn't have.
Great video, but lots of rule errors.
I only highlighted some.

I know you have a bigger channel than me and I enjoyed the game, but there are so many mistakes. Which is a shame.
As the AT gun gets onto the table it can not fire, because it is a artillery piece and therefore an advance is to turn on the spot and a move is allways a run.
If you pass an order you often removed more than one pin even it is not with snake eyes.
The lone German NCO have to take a test if he stays on the board as he lost half his squad. Same for the AT-gun.
A medium mortar has 3 crew and if it was a light mortar then it only would be 1" and not spotter could be used.
The Panzerfausts against the Sherman would needed 6's to hit the tank. 3 plus one for the pin, one for long range and one for moved.
If you do defencive fire you have used your activation, so no movement for the German squad.
Then the templates as Tabletop CP sad.
Rough ground as the crops should be could not be entered with a run, same is for ruins.
I hope you do take this points with a smile. Everyone does mistakes so do I, but to improve the game it is nice imo to get the mistakes pointed out. Nevertheless thanks for the nice game.

Dude. You guys should actually make these armies you come up with actual boxed kits. They could do a naked cardboard box with their logo on it. I’d like the American army anyway

Remember the mortar has a +2 pen value so it would wound the regular troops on a 2+
Oh my gosh. For some reason I thought that was only for vehicles. Definitely noting that one! Thank you for that correction.

Thanks! The trees are battlefield in a box which is made by Battlefront. The hedges are slices of a welcome mat that I cut (similar to the crop fields). I glued them to paint stirrers you get at Lowes/Home Depot and sprayed them green. Then applied some clump foilage. The walls are 3d printed. Thanks for watching.

Thanks buddy. Your channel has inspired me over the years so I appreciate the comment. I use Canva to make thumbnails so I upload the picture and manipulate it with some of their free objects. The arrows are part of that.

Yeah the scenario played well for me having more activations. I now understand why it’s some important to have more dice in the bag.

Beautiful terrain, where'd you get those dirt roads?
Thanks! Those are battlefield in a box rural roads by battlefront. They can be hard to find as they sell out quickly but if you keep your eyes peeled you can snag them
Great Video! Thanks for making it. I am just starting out with German Army. What vehicles do you suggest that I get first for 1000 pt battles? (i.e., what ones are most popular/effective)
Welcome. I’m definitely not an expert but the Panzer IV is nice. The Tiger and Panther will really eat up your points in a hurry, but man do they look good! Plus the Panzer had Tiger Fear which can be really effective. Hope that helps. :)

Really loving the tone and style of these games! Really enjoyable to watch (i may have binged four in a row) - i do feel terribly sorry for that Sherman though! It's always getting blown up!
Now to dig out my French Resistance models and try and get a game together!

How do you guys find the turns play out with drawing from the bag? Im wondering if it unbalances the game any
I personally love it. Tactically it really makes you think and weigh risk/reward. From a mechanics perspective it might be my favorite.
i just discovered your channel and i have to say i really love your style of editing and presentation. i will subscribe for more bolt action battlereps :) please remember to roll when a unit loses half its members from a shot (i dont know if you forgot or just didnt include the roll in the video).

Where did you get the roads used in your battle reports? They are really awesome!!
The roads are made by battlefront. Same company that makes flames of war. They work at either 15 or 28mm in my opinion.
one comment and two questions:
Comment: HE weapons have a Penetration Value wich makes it more easy to kill Infantry. for example the 2" explosen has a +2 Pen Value so you only need a 3 with that weapon to kill a Veteran.
Question 1: did the Germans and the US AT Gun did the Moral check when he units looses more than 50% of the remaining troops.
Question 2: did you apply the multiple Pin Markers caused by HE Shoots?
Yes absolutely on those PEN values. We messed that up completely. I definitely didn't take morale on that AT gun but I think we rolled D-something pin markers on the HE shots. We're still learning the game a bit and trying to grow it in our area. Thanks for watching!

This is not just an interesting report but this is a how to play for beginners like me. All moves explained very clearly.
Thanks I try to incorporate that so people know if I make mistakes as well. Some folks left comments of errors which helps everyone become better with the rules.

I know I'm just now watching this a year later 😭 but when half of a squad is taken out in one turn then you have to take a moral check for them and they all go away if you fail

At 9:24 when the Sherman fired it’s MG, the infantry squad lost more than half its figures from a single attack. I thought this means that any remaining figures are also removed automatically?
I think that means you need to take morale. Don't have my rulebook handy, however. I'll check tomorrow. :)
Yes. If a squad loses half its figures in an attack it must take an immediate morale test. If it fails, then any remaining figures are removed.

What colors did you use for the US troops?
Great question! That's why I make painting videos now, lol. It's just to help me remember what I did. I "think" it was a base of Vallejo German Camo Dark Green, then a larger highlight of Vallejo US Dark Green and a small highlight of Army Painter Army Green. I'll paint another one up soon and see if that's right. :)

Great video, i've been building a german DAK army for about a year now while my cousin is building a british 8th army.
So far i've got:
80 infantry (Usually use a mix of some regular 10 man infantry squad with 3 veteran panzer-grenadier riding the hanomag and trucks.
1 DAK HQ (radio, officer, bodyguard, medic) (Rarely use the medic, don't feel it's worth it, rides in squad leader Hanomag)
1 hanomag
1 hanomag squad leader with pak 36
2x Opel Blitz truck
Pak 36 AT gun
88mm super heavy AT gun + 7 crew (can also be used as medium artillery)
Pz IV D
Pz III J
Sd. Kfz. 233 8 rad 75mm
Sd. Kfz. 231 8 rad 20mm
Sd. Kfz. 222 20mm
5x DAK Kradschützen motorcycle infantry (4 single, 1x with sidecar)
2x Mortar Team
1x Medium machine gun team
Love this game, at first we were hesitating between this and 40k, but when i saw the models and the difference in prices, Bolt Action won by a long shot!

12:00 you might have addressed this later on but remember you get a pen bonus with HE. You probably shouldve been killing those vets on 3's.

Really like these bat reps. Excellent job with the effects and great narration. Definitely some rule errors, which is good that I am picking up on them. I am fairly new and watching others play helps a lot. I hope you do more of these going forward.

Great report and that church building is great scenery where did that come from? In fact I’d love to know where a lot of your terrain comes from cobblestone and dirt roads are good pieces as well and adds to the presentation.
Thanks. The Church building can be found on the warlord website. Just search for Church and it will come up. The roads and trees are battlefield in a box. The walls and green building are 3d printed. The ruined buildings are in the starter box (Band of Brothers). :)
Another great batrep from you, I always look forward to them. I enjoy the well-painted models and nice scenery, the fast pace without skipping any of the action, and the effects which are interesting but not excessive. Keep up the great work and looking forward to the next one!
