I love how Arya and Sansa aren't like the rest of the Starks. Being so noble and trusting gets you killed, it happened to Ned and it happened to Robb. Sansa was trapped with power hungry leaders until she learned how to play the Game, and Arya was forced to fight and survive and has become an accomplished killer and fighter. It's great

After Daenerys Targaryen, Aria Stark is my second favortite character and second favorite story. Remember in Seaon 7 when she said "the world doesn't let little girls decide what they want to do?" Well she was the one little girl who defied that wisdom and got to do what she really wanted to do. Even from the beginning she had more sense than Sansa and was never cut out for the "girlie girl" stuff. I have much respect for her and adore Aria Stark very much from her little girl days to her assassin days. The best part about it is that her enemies never expect this half pint girl to be such a lethal killer.

Man, I miss "The Great Adventures of Arya and her Hound." I hope they reunited so she can show him how good she has become at killing. He always had such a proud look when she would kill with vengeance and bloodlust.
I think she might have actually taken the Hound off her list regardless of what other people are claiming after all the Hound has showed he's done a lot since the start to redeem himself and change. He's done everything he can to try to help Arya survive and when the Hound told her to kill him she refused. So I think if he does die it will be by someone else hand not Arya's.
Arya is also my favorite and while a part of me like the "badass" aspect of her character I do try to remind myself how tragic her character is supposed to be as well. She's seen so much death and brutality and now enacts the same on others at such a young age. Hers is a story of innocence and youth lost, forever. The girl is damaged emotionally most likely and will be traumatized for life. And yet, I wish her luck on her quest for vengeance.
I disagree! I doubt what Arya has been through has traumatized her. In fact the opposite. It's strengthened her. Given her direction and focus. An analogy might be raping a virgin and a hooker. The former might be severely traumatized by the deed where as the latter might kick or kill your ass. Different people cope in different ways.
I'm also reminded about a video I saw (I forget most of the thing) In a nutshell.. Some 43 year old guy supposedly fires a small caliber handgun for the first time and bleating like a terrified goat about how traumatizing the experience had been to him. This was followed by a video of a 6 yo girl firing an AR-15 in 3 round burst and giggling in total glee an excitement.. Go figure!

That is when she is just like me. She went away to study with all her might. She gets slapped down and laughed at but she still believes that one day she will pee with the big dogs. Beat up and humiliated, she keeps at it. That's when she's my hero.

You missed a great scene that sum up Arya well, and is the scene that made me know I'd like her. When Ned is talking to her about her future, and her being the lady with all that entails, she simple said "no, that's not me."
Arya makes a great assassin. She's not just straight-ass bad, she's complex and interesting. Not only that, she's BELIEVABLE. Maisie Williams MAKES the character work because of how good she is as an actress. I don't think anyone else on the planet could be a better Arya than Maisie. This girl is going to have a great career. I like her better than Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss. She's just more convincing; not to mention a better actress than Jennifer.
Jennifer Lawrence sucks she's hardly a good actress she was way over-hyped in Hunger-Games and she's had numerous movies that have bombed with the exception of the X-Men series and even in that she isn't convincing as Mystique, they could have come up with any number of better actresses imho to fill that role and make it more exciting.

Arya is my favorite character on GOT. I can relate with her desire to fight that sit around and be appropriate like my sisters. My twin daughters related to her more than they do with Lady Sansa. I love how she is tenacious, fearless, focused. Shows how her character adapts and she steps up when challenges arise. Turned out to be one of the favorites in our home.
Hound the type of person to act the meanest when he's the nicest person inside .. Not Arya. She has a heart. Even after all she has seen and done. She sat five feet from Tywin Lannister and did not lunge at the back of his neck, She forgave the Hound, She left the Black & White hall when she realized she was not a mindless assassin for hire to anyone with coin to pay for an innocents murder. She sat among her most hated enemy and soon saw them for what they really were. Young men following the orders of power hungry high borne monsters.. She has grown into a very strong and just leader. Arya herself denounced that when she left Jaqen. She told him she was Arya Stark and she was going home. My prediction is that Jon Snow/Stark marries Daneryes and they become Rulers of the North, Jon doesn't want to be King, Dany Does want to become Queen! They destroy an unyielding house Lannister and name Sansa "Queen of the South" Perhaps she'll move to The Vale. And if Braun can Warg into the Wight he could make him kill himself and wipe out the entire dead army before they have to fight them.

Actually she had killed someone before she met Jaqen. She was then mesmerized by Jaqen's abilities of killing off whoever he wanted but she couldn't go with him because she wanted to find her family. Hound simply continued what Jaqen had started and she ran away from him as soon as she could and went to Braavos.
Diator, did you watch the show ? She killed long before she even met Hound. He is a minor character. He wasn't even that important to her in the book. All she wanted was to ran away from him. Faceless Men are the most important for Arya's character developement. His part is bigger on the show and according to D&D it's a fanservice .

Yes we have a formidable family within the Starks now. Bran Is "intelligence" Sansa is "leadership and diplomacy" while Arya is "Security and defense". House Stark is most likely ten times more powerful than it has ever been with this power triangle in charge. Yet not one of these three question Jon Snow's right to lead the family in all things. I think Arya considers Jon more her older brother than she did. Robb or Rikon

I was aggravated by someone whinging about the Arya scene with that fool Sansa as being just about "envying her sister's pretty dresses," obviously from a fool videomaker, because Arya wouldn't really want to wear a pretty dress unless it was the only way she could get close enough to deliver some of that Lannister steel right into Cersei's heart! So, I ended up watching this as a palate cleanser, and a lovely one it was!
Nice work. Arya has been my favorite character right from the start. I only miss some scenes showing her with Nymeria and the most important one (one of my favorite scenes in the series) the incredible staredown contest between Arya and Tywin Lannister.

The development of the character of Arya is the most subtle and powerful one of the lot. Her character stands out because it tends to blend, yet paradoxically stands out. Sansa is pretty fierce in her own way. She did survive both Joffery AND Ramsey Both of whom were psychopathic sadists. She's every bit the warrior her sister is. just uses different measures to achieve her goals.

all I know of the show is what I've seen on utube. but in the books you witness her transform from all Hart, passion, and courage; to something cold and calculated. from fire to ice. you watch her go from pawn, to one of the most powerful peices on the board. short of the imp, I find her story the most compelling.
"A girl is Arya Stark: and I'm going home." Is definitely 100% in my top 5 moments on the show. Right up there with the whole scene where Varys opens his terrifying revenge-crate, Cersei's drunken "these women will be in for a good rape!" speech during the battle of Blackwater, Arya naming The Man's name when he gives her even the slightest opening, and Sansa giving the order to execute Littlefinger. IMO.. Arya is NOT the scariest person in GOT world. If you are honest and trustworthy you have nothing to fear from Arya.. If your a callous indescriminant butcher who double crosses everyone then yes. Arya could be your worst nightmares. As Brienne said to the Hound. 'The only person needing protection is the person that gets in Arya's way!" My main sadness with this last coming series ending season is we'll never get to see what sort of friendship and alliance might have become between Arya and Lyanna Mourmont She had a very small army but the heart of a lion! Imagine her after a few years of Arya's tutelage.
I love Arya, and all her father figures in the show. Jaqun being one of my favorites. But can't wait to see her reunite with Jon. She has to be my Favorite in the show

You missed a great scene that sum up Arya well, and is the scene that made me know I'd like her.
When Ned is talking to her about her future, and her being the lady with all that entails, she simple said "no, that's not me."
Arya makes a great assassin. She's not just straight-ass bad, she's complex and interesting. Not only that, she's BELIEVABLE. Maisie Williams MAKES the character work because of how good she is as an actress. I don't think anyone else on the planet could be a better Arya than Maisie. This girl is going to have a great career. I like her better than Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss. She's just more convincing; not to mention a better actress than Jennifer.
Jennifer Lawrence sucks she's hardly a good actress she was way over-hyped in Hunger-Games and she's had numerous movies that have bombed with the exception of the X-Men series and even in that she isn't convincing as Mystique, they could have come up with any number of better actresses imho to fill that role and make it more exciting.
Arya Stark, for me, is in my top 3 of characters of Game of Thrones.

Arya is my favorite character on GOT. I can relate with her desire to fight that sit around and be appropriate like my sisters. My twin daughters related to her more than they do with Lady Sansa. I love how she is tenacious, fearless, focused. Shows how her character adapts and she steps up when challenges arise. Turned out to be one of the favorites in our home.

Not Arya. She has a heart. Even after all she has seen and done. She sat five feet from Tywin Lannister and did not lunge at the back of his neck, She forgave the Hound, She left the Black & White hall when she realized she was not a mindless assassin for hire to anyone with coin to pay for an innocents murder. She sat among her most hated enemy and soon saw them for what they really were. Young men following the orders of power hungry high borne monsters.. She has grown into a very strong and just leader. But, she knows she was never meant to be a ruler.

Arya herself denounced that when she left Jaqen. She told him she was Arya Stark and she was going home. My prediction is that Jon Snow/Stark marries Daneryes and they become Rulers of the North, Jon doesn't want to be King, Dany Does want to become Queen! They destroy an unyielding house Lannister and name Sansa "Queen of the South" Perhaps she'll move to The Vale. And if Braun can Warg into the Wight he could make him kill himself and wipe out the entire dead army before they have to fight them.
Like a lot of people, Arya is my favourite character.
And like the others, when she and Jon are reunited is eagerly awaited.

Actually she had killed someone before she met Jaqen. She was then mesmerized by Jaqen's abilities of killing off whoever he wanted but she couldn't go with him because she wanted to find her family. Hound simply continued what Jaqen had started and she ran away from him as soon as she could and went to Braavos.

Diator, did you watch the show ? She killed long before she even met Hound. He is a minor character. He wasn't even that important to her in the book. All she wanted was to ran away from him. Faceless Men are the most important for Arya's character developement. His part is bigger on the show and according to D&D it's a fanservice .
Arya is not a girl, she is not a woman, she is not a maiden, she is not a damsel in distress, she is a warrior, she is fighter, she is a killer, she is a lone wolf no she is the lone wolf.

(Doubtful as I see them giving us some kind of happily ever after ending at least to some degree) We need a series from HBO based on the Faceless Men they could do a whole series on that and I bet it would draw the majority of GoT fans.

Maisie/Arya is the not only the best actor but the best Character on The Game of Thrones -- she evolved perfectly. The one Stark that can and will revenge all the others and will be Lord Protector of all who Reign in the end.
I was aggravated by someone whinging about the Arya scene with that fool Sansa as being just about "envying her sister's pretty dresses," obviously from a fool videomaker, because Arya wouldn't really want to wear a pretty dress unless it was the only way she could get close enough to deliver some of that Lannister steel right into Cersei's heart! So, I ended up watching this as a palate cleanser, and a lovely one it was!

Nice work. Arya has been my favorite character right from the start. I only miss some scenes showing her with Nymeria and the most important one (one of my favorite scenes in the series) the incredible staredown contest between Arya and Tywin Lannister.

The development of the character of Arya is the most subtle and powerful one of the lot. Her character stands out because it tends to blend, yet paradoxically stands out. One channel actually did not include her as a personality with charisma???? She is riveting. P.S. The background music kills the script; you cannot hear the voices.

Arya is an individual. She doesn't have to be good. And a character doesn't have to be good so you can love him. You can love a character even if he's evil. For example, I like Cersei's character. Maybe she's evil but she's a special and awesome character in the show, one of the best. I wonder would people be happy with a sweet and innocent Arya who's doing nothing but just running from everyone just like Rickon did? Rickon was always good but he was boring. We don't want that. Game of Thrones isn't a real world but a fictional one so we shouldn't behave like we respect only good people. This show is about interesting characters and their fights with enemies (interesting enemies). It's not a crime to love an evil character. So, all of you fucking stop hating Arya's character. She's one of the greatest characters in the show.

all I know of the show is what I've seen on utube. but in the books you witness her transform from all Hart, passion, and courage; to something cold and calculated. from fire to ice. you watch her go from pawn, to one of the most powerful peices on the board. short of the imp, I find her story the most compelling.
"A girl is Arya Stark: and I'm going home." Is definitely 100% in my top 5 moments on the show. Right up there with the whole scene where Varys opens his terrifying revenge-crate, Cersei's drunken "these women will be in for a good rape!" speech during the battle of Blackwater, Arya naming The Man's name when he gives her even the slightest opening, and Sansa giving the order to execute Littlefinger. Some of the best scenes to re-watch on youtube

IMO.. Arya is NOT the scariest person in GOT world. If you are honest and trustworthy you have nothing to fear from Arya.. If your a callous indescriminant butcher who double crosses everyone then yes. Arya could be your worst nightmares. As Brienne said to the Hound. 'The only person needing protection is the person that gets in Arya's way!" My main sadness with this last coming series ending season is we'll never get to see what sort of friendship and alliance might have become between Arya and Lyanna Mourmont She had a very small army but the heart of a lion! Imagine her after a few years of Arya's tutelage.
