youre playing as another monkey of wukong's species, not as him. at the start the old monkey said "there is a destined monkey that will collect all of his relics and bring them to mountain huago" and there was a bunch of other monkeys gathered around and you the player stepped up to find his relics, so now youre on a journey to collect all of them and revive the real wukong!
😭 So sad! No one recognize the boss in the opening is Tien Jinhan, 天津飯. 🤭 Also, should I tell Goku the TRUE relationship with his FATHER IN LAW in this game.
