Mariah was writing a song for her collaborator and friend who passed away of AIDS complications back in 1994? And Boyz 2 Men were writing one for their Road manager that passed around that time too.
When they got together they realized that their songs sounded very similar so they made One Sweet Day together. Mariah released EPs to celebrate her 30 year anniversary in the industry along with the release of her memoir in 2020 and along with it came the One Sweet Day Ep which included the One Sweet Day Chucky's Remix . You should check it out in your down time. It's really good and more of a combination of the 2 seperate songs they were writing.

Hey Guys a big shout out from Brazil. I don´t know if you know this, but WALTER AFANASIEFF who has co-written a lot of Mariah's biggest hits with her is actually Brazilian of Jewish-Russian origin. He is an American citizen too of course. Brazil is such a mixed country built by people from all over the world. Walter is such a gifted songwriter. Him and Mariah worked magic together.
