Thank you. You have no idea how much inspiring and helpful this type of content is I am in a stage where I am making decent beats nothing too crazy, I'm trying to move past that stage and make placement ready beats but I end up overthinking and just to ruin the whole idea I had initially and eventually give up on the ideas that I had so thank you so much seeing someone of your calibre explain their thought process is so amazing. Thank you
sometimes a good practice is to put music out there without thinking too much, but I understand the thought of being too self-critical, in fact I started putting out beats without expectations, be productive is always a good choise!🔥
If you're targeting artists, I'd agree, don't overthink it and go with the flow, but if it's something more for listening I'd say overthinking a little ain't a bad thing, but it has to be critical thinking. A good thing for people to do is to consistently make beats in the mindset of the artist as well, you won't overthink as much all the time and if you start overthinking or think you are, just send it to a friend that's an artist and ask for feedback for where it's at, it can really go a long way.
My problem is i think too much about every part of it. From the melody, to the drums, mixing & mastering but my biggest problem is i rarely finish any beat. I got beats i made during COVID and none of them are finished projects, not leveled not mixed not mastered, just sitting there. I got 300+ midis in six midi kits i made during COVID and they are just sitting there.
Hey llb! Currently on my music theory/keys journey. Been using the app melodics but wanted your advice as to where to start or if thats enough. Should I be learning scales? Chords? I want to be able to play freely and come up with chords and melodies etc. Ps. FIRE VIDEO🎉
