    What a cute little soundtrack! It's not the best, but it is pretty interesting to hear the SN7 and AY at the same time. The tracks that I did like are at 3:18 and 3:42.

      I find it works very well with its simplicity (especially with that soothing doubling and reverb), particularly while playing the game
      Plus, it certainly serves a great basis for adding on to it 😉

    Awesome, we finally get an oscilloscope view of the Savage Bees arcade soundtrack!😄🤩😎👌 The one arcade that uses both the AY and SN7 (and the soundtrack sounds super awesome because of that)! Now, since this game used both the SN7 and the AY, which channels are which?(Cuz it seems that there’s 7, 8, or 9 channels being used in this oscilloscope view, and they’re all playing square channels.)

    • @ashkirby8896
      @ashkirby8896 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No wait, lemme guess, this soundtrack is only using the square channels on the two SN7s alongside the ones on the AY, and I’m guessing that the noise channels on the two SN7s were used for sound effects alongside the second AY(which isn’t shown in the oscilloscope view because of that fact). Right?

    • @acrouzet
      @acrouzet  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. When the AY chip is used it’s the last three channels (vertically oriented)

    Very Master System like, but in a good way. I really like the BGMs mostly because of how echoey they sound.

      Eric Dobek Me too!😄 Plus, one of the things I love about Multi AY and SN7 arcade soundtracks is how they make use of having two or more square channels each playing the same note but at different octaves to make the sound of a 25% pulse wave, and how using more of those sound chips allows bigger freedom to do that!😄

    • @leroyvisiongames2294
      @leroyvisiongames2294 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it’s really cool how a lot of older games use that “simultaneous sound channels at different octaves” trick. Master System games make use of that trick a lot, and The Skee-Ball machine at my local arcade even does that for some of the musical cues.

      @@leroyvisiongames2294 And now that Furnace exist, we can make perfect recreations of this since the program supports using more than one of the same sound chip, and since the SN7 and AY are both among the over 50+ sound chips supported on Furnace!😄😏😎

    • @ashkirby8896
      @ashkirby8896 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      [deleted] That is correct, the game used 2 AYs and two SN7s, but only one AY was used alongside the two SN7s for the music, while the other AY was used for sound effects(which is why the second AY wasn’t shown in the oscilloscope view, since VGM doesn’t support sound effects).

  • @TheBeeshSpweesh
    @TheBeeshSpweesh 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mixing two different types of PSG's together is interesting. This uses 2 SN's and 1 AY.

    • @ashkirby8896
      @ashkirby8896 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      StinkerB06 And 1 other AY being used for sound effects alongside presumably the noise channels on the two SN7s(and for that reason, is not shown in the oscilloscope view since VGM doesn’t support playing sound effects).

      A *.vgm is literally just a log of register writes to a sound chip. So it's absolutely possible to make SFX's in these files.

    That's less annoying than 1942 and Vulgus, but still has a long way to go before you'd call it listenable. The high score table's not too bad, though.
