It doesn’t look sturdy, it wobbles a lot, and if a child falls on it, they’ll likely tumble down the stairs. Advertising it as the safest option is a significant exaggeration.

Is it good for outdoor use?
Isn't that too easy to open for 2.3yo toddler to open it?.
Retract-A-Gate is certified for children 6 thru 24 months, so no it will not be easy for a child that age to open it. If you want to teach older children to open it, you can. Typically when there are other problems its because the gate is either installed or being used incorrectly, but when installed correctly, the other problems will generally be avoided. It is super dangerous to put one of these at the top of stairs.
why do you think so? It's mounted, and the company recommends mount it at least 6 inches from the edge of the top step to allow for give. Do you still think its dangerous for top of the stairs?
It is NOT consistent with the manufacturer's recommendations to install at the top of stairs, ONLY at the bottom. It is not a secure enough gate for that purpose and relying on it in that manner is an accident waiting to happen.

Can a toddler crawl underneath the gate?
Hi Carl, the gate is certified for use with toddlers 6-24 months old. The gate is made out of a mesh material and does have some give, however, it can be locked in place at any width to keep the mesh taut so a toddle can not crawl under. pshycoghp yes, it’s flexible. So my dog will just scoot under it. If a dog can,a toddler can. Our last gate was a hard gate, they seem safer.
