I've been in his shoes (albiet liking people closer to my age who were also emotionally immature). Having played/ interacted with people in games that involve a more social aspect, you can say 'oh it's just a game' but people's feelings are real no matter the form they come in. Until you actually experience these kinda things yourself, you don't really understand how hard it can be when someone is being intimate with you on one side and they turn out to just be "playing a game". As unsatisfying Marie is, I think it was good for her to try to distance herself from this guy. Taking mobile game too emotionally and getting invested on someone you barely knows is a big red flag.
