I'm so sorry you've been sick, Norrine. Praying for a speedy recovery. We'll be here when you get back. Just take care of yourself.
I love your realistic approach to organizing. Even when you're sick you're a pleasure to watch. Thank you for all you do and I hope you feel better soon.
I agree with you on this subject! One time I bought a slack hanger; there were 4 rods on the one hanger, to hang 4 slacks at a time. I bought it because I saw on Pinterest that someone had taken all their rolls of ribbon and organized them by slipping them onto the rods. This turned out to be a bad idea. I could only "cut" the ribbon! If I needed to take the whole roll off, I would have to take off EVERY roll of ribbon on the rod to get to the ribbon I wanted. It was the same way when the roll was finished; I had to take off every roll to get to the empty roll. It was actually more time consuming than if I had just tossed the ribbon into a box with the rest of my ribbon rolls.
I made that mistake with ribbon too... I put it on a dowel. Then I realized I hate messing with it! now my ribbon sits in a gutter and is super easy to get to! :D
Praying for your improved health. Rest and don't hurry back because we can wait for you to heal. Your good health is more important than helping us right now. We can always look up old Crafty videos to get inspired. Thanks for today.
Please don’t push yourself…too easy to become a “longhauler” (people who have effects waaay after the initial infection…they do not know what causes it) let yourself heal as long as it takes. We WILL be here praying for you! Barb, Michigan.🙏🏽
xoxoxox Thank you, my friend.
For me, the beauty of anything is in its utility, not just its appearance, so we're of like mind in that respect. I start spring housecleaning in January, moving from room-to-room in sequence. I refine the appearance and organization a little more each year, so to be honest, my cabinets and closets will probably never remain unaltered from year-to-year. This year, when I start on the bathroom, I'll replace all the storage boxes with prettier (all homemade) containers. For small things I have discovered that empty oxy-clean containers make marvelous storage, especially for tight spaces -- they conceal everything nicely, they're compact and stackable, easy to paint, decorate, and label. I'm always happy to store things attractively AND keep plastic out of the landfill. Hope you're feeling 100% soon!
I love that!!!!!! I am always happy to hear someone upcycling a container - you're right! Why let them go to a landfill if they can provide a useful function AND save you money?!?! Great job, Kathryn!
Do not rush ~ loyal viewers can wait until you are better!
Recently a big TH-camr (who I like to watch) turned her front closet into a pantry. When it was revealed, she had a Pinterest pantry with maybe three baskets per shelf and tons of empty shelving. I was so disappointed.
Norrine, you are the most practical, realist organizer out there!
Thank you..... I try not to yell at the tv while I am watching organizing shows. But I do. LOL It frustrates me too. Especially when they show the $500 haul of containers. I think it's GREAT that they can do that, but most of us can't.
@@TheCraftyOrganizer You don’t know this but your videos helped me organize my craft space for the first time in many many years! I mean really organize! I need to send you my before and after pics. You’ll see your influence and advice thru-out! 🥰
I follow a few accounts in Instagram and sometimes I get the impression that organizing things the way they do is just an excuse to buy more stuff. It's great to have things looking nice, but it's got to be affordable too so do all the containers help if you end up spending a lot of money to do it? You also have to consider if you need the items that you already have when you are organizing things - get rid of things if you /really/ do not need them and have too much, or if they are old and tatty, but keep them if they are still in good condition and you need them. If you want things that match, wait until what you currently have is so tatty that they have become unusable and buy stuff that matches then.
You’re so right about Pinterest or magazines. Most of it is not the reality of our lives. I’m glad you’re back!
Love this! "Form follows function"
Yes! Thank you!
I can say with certainty, nothing in my home is Pinterest worthy!😂. However, all the areas where I have purged and organized, are neat and functional! This is what I've been working on since the pandemic started, following your videos. I only took three breaks for hospital stays, only one Covid related. Norrine, don't push yourself! We're not going anywhere, and it does take a while to get back all your strength and energy.
Way to go on organizing your home!!!!!!
I laughed out loud when you got to all the stuff for injuries. I can sooooo relate. Also, all I can think is that men designed these linen cabinets. A folded towels won't fit on mine. It's so annoying. Good for you for getting it done! I'm motivated now. :)
Yeah - what does it say when I have more medical braces than towels?!?!?! Yikes!
I hope you feel better soon. I too have been fighting something for the past two weeks and just two days ago finally felt like I've turned a corner. I am really enjoying your thoughtful approach to organization.
Bless your heart. I’ve been watching your videos -LOVING your videos - for almost a year now and this is my first time to comment. You stepped right on my buttons when pointing out that so many of those things look merchandised; not like a real home with real organization. It’s everywhere! Crafts…kitchens, (who only has teal and pink craft tools and supplies, or has 12 bottles of ketchup in their pantry and keeps all the red stuff together?) When I need help with the mess, that help needs to be geared toward the kind of practical, real-life issues in my house - not geared toward some fake “influencer” looking for hits, not looking out for me.
Bless your sweet heart and get well soon. You’ll be in my prayers.
All the red stuff together! LOL
Cheryl - LOL Yes... likes with likes, right??
Thank you Denise! So happy to have you with me for so long. I yell at my screen all of the time for that... as well as other things!!!! LOL I'd love to have a giant home with too much storage space - but, alas... I have a tiny home and do my best to love what I have and keep it super frugal while I'm at it.
I MUCH prefer a real reveal over a staged one. Those are like the home remodels that designers post. Sure, the pics are from a real home, but they're taken before the kids and pets and work and school things are reintroduced to the space. I need to see how someone stores all the everyday junk that gets used and needs to be easily and quickly located. I appreciate that you did a REAL reveal. And it turned out pretty fantastic!
Thank you!! :D
i actually do have same towels, it makes my bathroom look so much more coherent and calmer.
i absolutely despise wire baskets, since they scratch the surface when pulled and pushed like a drawer and things get stuck. they cannot be repurposed for all items and i personally cant't stand how they feel.
I appreciate hearing that! It makes sense - I've just not been in a home that has all the same towels yet! I love the look of wire baskets - but you are right, they are surface killers! Thanks for the feedback, Anna! :D
I’m sorry you’ve been sick so long. I truly hope you feel better soon. I can’t believe you’re doing a video even sick. You are amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. Nothing in my house is Pinterest worthy but it is basically functional. I love your common sense approach. Please rest and take your time. I spent 5 days in the hospital last summer with “that thing.” The hardest part of recovery was the fatigue. Give yourself the grace of time.
Take the time to get better! You can take a break and focus on giving yourself time to heal. At this time, we all need to be nice to ourselves.
Hope you feel back to 100% real soon Norrine and am so sorry to hear you've been sick. Please take care of yourself! I too really need to organize my linen closet, but I have the opposite problem to you - my closet is rather deep and it makes using all the space hard because stuff in the back and on the top shelves gets lost in the black hole of space because it's impossible to reach without a ladder even though I'm on the taller side. I really do need to go out and get bins to corral all my stuff, because the only way I'd be able to access it all is to bin it so I can pull it out to see what I have, and also to avoid the knocking everything else over issue. Also must sort through all the towels and sheets I have and donate about 1/2 of it!
YES! Bins will really help you. And don't feel like you need to fill those back spaces, if you don't need to!!!!
I'm facing the linen closet challenge this week, so your suggestions are MOST appreciated!! Hope you feel better soon! Take care!
It's all an illusion. You always show us the real deal. That's why we love you!
xoxoxo Thanks, Twyla!
You have inspired me to tear apart and declutter my linen closet! Thank you! I've been saying to myself "tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow" but tomorrow never comes.
I know it will bring me joy when I get this task completed.
So..... How did it go????
@@TheCraftyOrganizer It's still a goal on the horizon. I'll get to it eventually and I know I will be so happy.
Small home. Small closets. Everything has to be functional not pretty. And my family doesn't do containers with lids.
Great video
Thanks for watching!
It may take awhile to be over getting tired easily. Just keep taking care of yourself. HUGS
I hope you're feeling better soon. Rest as much as you need to and rest your voice, too. I've noticed the same thing in some before and after pictures of organizing. I imagine the remnants are piled behind the camera to be retrieved later on. Haha! Your closet turned out nice and your helper is adorable. Thanks for all you do and praying you're well soon.
I REALLY loved this video. You are so honest and helpful. You are also correct. While I love Pinterest, organization, it is not always functional and my family needs functional, easy and organized. Not always pretty but it works for us. Thank you for this awesome video and I hope you feel better soon!
So glad to see you back and on the mend. Hope you're all better soon.
I hope so too! Thanks, Jean!
I feel Pintrest is overwhelming and makes me super anxious. I love the way your pupper was "helping" lol 💜
You are so real! I love this, we have a tendency to play the comparison game and then feel we fall short. We can get organized and save money. Love it! And I am sending you happy healthy vibes!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for having a common sense blend of attractiveness and practical function! And the frugality to reuse and repurpose. You are a blessing.
You are so welcome!
Bright blessings for a swift and complete recovery. Thanks for addressing this issue. So many times I think "this isn't what it's supposed to look like." But then I realize it works for me and that's all that matters.
Oh Norrine I sure hope you feel better soon! You actually look better than you probably feel. I know in my head that my linen closet will never look like those on Pinterest......just wishing it did! Lol. Take care of yourself and get lots of rest!
xoxox Thank you, Diane.
Ginger/lemon tea, always have on hand sunshine. I glad that your health has gotten better since this video was aired. You were in my thoughts and prayers. Rest well. 💜🌞🥭🍵
Don't forget about Eucalyptus in your shower. Helps clear your lungs 💙
Thank you, my friend. So glad to be feeling better. xooxo
Thank you, Norrine. Just what I needed to see! Get well soon and do take care.
Glad to see you back, prayers for your continued healing 🙏 God Bless!! ❤
Get better soon! And thank you for being real about organizing.
Real life is what we deal with so real storage ideas are great. I used to be on Pinterest, found it overwhelming. Get well soon.
Oh you poor dear, so sorry u r ill. Remember, you r so lived n we will b here when you are well. Prayers sent . Go to bed or couch n rest rest rest. Love u.
Sorry you haven’t been feeling well! My household felt with the same thing a couple of weeks ago. Hang in there and feel better!
Thank you - hoping your family is feeling much better now!
Not to encourage hoarding I've been clearing out 20yrs of stuff. But I have found old sheets are great for making your own sewing patterns instead of forking out for non iron on interfacing then I fold tthe "patterns" into ziplock bags and label for future use.
Even not feeling well you are a blessing!!!
I like the Pinterest pantry organization it works for me but for the closets you are definitely right it just does not work just keeping it organized it's just better. I hope he feels better soon Noreen!!!
I totally agree!
@@TheCraftyOrganizer Sorry about that last part my text sometimes changes what I write without knowing but I hope you feel better soon!
Thank you Norrine!
Hope and pray you are well soon!!!
I tend to get caught up with it does look Pinterest worthy when trying to put my house together, so I get it. This video gives hope to continue with what works for me/house organization! Ps. I hope you feel better soon!
I have to keep myself in too!!!! :)
I totally agree! Maybe you should take care of yourself. 💜
Please take care of yourself. I went through "IT" and it was just lingering, almost felt like bad allergies. I started taking Alergia D & it really helped. Was very tired & sleeping a lot but fortunately I'm retired & was able to rest & recover. Hugs & blessings and please take care of yourself. 💞🦋
I'll check into that - thanks, Kathleen! xoxoxo
Get well soon!!! The struggle is real.
Get well soon..I love your approach on organizing, no matches matches...
I hope you continue to stay on the mend Norrine. I really appreciate videos like this. I am a newer stay at home wife and I have been feeling badly about myself because my house isn't as "pretty" as others on pinterest and even other TH-cam channels even though it is neat and clean.
Oh... I should talk in depth about my stay-at-home-mommy/wife days!!!! I was SO hard on myself! YOU are in control of all expectations - write that down, because you have power over what they are. Make realistic to do lists - and do what you can, WHEN you can.... and adjust as needed. xoxoxox
Feel better!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Such words of wisdom!!! I get frustrated as I see the “organized” when I remember my area is never going to look like the Pinterest picture. - Lynn
Great tips and highlights! TFS! Take care of yourself, rest. We will see you then💖
Feel Better and take care of yourself. Thank you for sharing!! ❤️
I loved the video, prayers for speedy recovery and feeling better. Yes functionality! I seriously agree , I want both but more functional.
Feel better soon !!!
Darling skit. Excellent advice. Welcome affirmations. YOU are so good for OUR emotional health! And I hope your physical health improves very soon.
I do too. Thanks, Cheryl!
Thanks for all the hints and tips! Great ideas. Hope you feel better soon!
Hope you recover Soon! 🙏 thank you for being real!❤
Oh my goodness, I have a closet like that. It is in my pass through (1913 house) and is hard to find bins for (I cope with small baskets and drawer organizers). I loved the Pinterest comparisons, especially since I am not into Pinterest. 😀
I really enjoy your ideas and the way you share these ideas, but you come first…we can wait. Take care of yourself. Start your new year in February.
Thank you. Get well soon. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you for that honest and practical video. I have never had an abundance of money, but the videos and pictures make you think you need to go buy containers/bins. Even if you go to the Dollar Store, that gets expensive. Your sound advice gave me encouragement. I hope you feel better soon. Take care and get your rest.
You are so welcome!
Pray you feel better soon!
Practical and personal, this is the reality! Blessed and safe days!
Hope you feel better soon. God bless. You are so right.
I love your "vignette" ❣
I hope you are well soon. Love all your ideas. They make so much sense.
Thank you so much!
Thank you for being thrifty and realistic!
Just take care of yourself!!!❤️
Everything you said is spot on. I used to get storage organizing magazines and everything was so pretty. I finally got it into my head that while pretty it just was not practical. I just got through organizing my pantry. It's not perfect but it works for me. I got rid of the storage organization magazines too. I'm working on one cabinet/closet at a time and really looking at what's there and as a single person - what do I really need and how can I best organize it? It's a process that isn't easy or quick but doable if you use your head and not your heart. Rest Norrine and take care of yourself. Best wishes and prayers for you and your family.
I agree!!!! I've wanted to do reactions to watching some of those organizing shows - but I try to live with the, "if you don't have something nice to say...." rule. LOL But I would like to do one someday to point out how much they hide about the process and end result!!!!
Here is a feel good hug frome the lady that forget everything.... and YES still sleep on the sofa...😁 but I have made some progress.. But I’ll eventually get there in the end. 😍🤩 🤲🏼💗🌸💕🌸💕🌸💕🌸💕😘😁
xoxoxoxo We are sofa sisters.
Oh So True!!
In the example "spa" shelf, you couldn't even get to one of those two towels without moving the plant first ... 🤣
LOL So true!!!
You are awesome, love all what you do! Take care of yourself and feel better!
So sorry you have been sick. Me too. The struggle is so real. 🙋♀️❤️🙏🏻🤧🤒😷
Hope you start feeling better soon!!!
I loved the little skit at the beginning. You are so right about the beautiful spaces that are not functional. They are not reality. Thank you for this video. I hope you are feeling better real soon. love and prayers
Yes! Thank you!
Feel better!🙏🙏
Excellent! You are an inspiration and down to earth. Please take care of yourself. You are worth it. Thank you for sharing you wisdom. Stay healthy.
💐Thanks for the video. I do agree with Pinterest you get lost in the pretty.
Sorry to hear your sick hope you get well soon. 💕
Love your functional ideas! I use contact paper on my Amazon boxes rather put them in a landfill!!
I love that!!!!
Hope you feel better soon. Your skit was so cute and ideas very helpful. Motivating me to tackle my closet which is a decent enough size but still a mess.
I do use an over the door shoe thing which helps quite a bit for the go-to items,
So true! Wall space and doors are great options for additional storage!
Get well soon. And again thanks for sharing your ideas. You are such an inspiration to me. I have been wanting to redo my linen closet as well. It’s 1/4 of the way done, this video has given me ideas for the rest of it😁🙏🙏😁🌹
Let me know how it goes!
I love “If you give a mouse a cookie “ series too!
Right??? That is 100% how my brain works. ALL OF THE TIME! LOL
Continue taking care of urself.
Thank you, Maria.
Woohoo! You did it! You tackled your closet. 😜. It looks great! You are very true to say what you did about Pinterest. Most of those pictures are not reality.
I hope you get better soon!
Thank you for sharing
Yes! Thank you!
I hope you feel better real soon! Take care and rest up as much as necessary. I love this video! I always though some of those Pinterest photos were way too pretty and not realistic. I do love Pinterest for ideas and help on certain things. I think your linen closet looks great and very functional!
Take care..... Thinking of you...
💖👍🥰❤️
I truly appreciate your perspective and pray that you are feeling better soon 🤗
Thank you so much.
Wow so sorry that you have been sick. Hope you get better soon. Great video thanks for my dear friend. Take care
Get better soon. God bless
I'm organizing our second bathroom, with a Grandaughter,in mind. She does have ideas on what she has seen on channels. My goal is to make the room neat, organized and fun.
That sounds like so much fun!!!!! Hope the two of you get to upcycle a few of the storage items! Great memories AND money saved! :D
I sure hope you feel better soon! Please take good care of yourself. This has been a fun video and so practical! I never really noticed that sometimes things in the 'before' photos never make it to the 'afters'! And your dog is the best.
It's a little sneaky - but maybe they just purged.... a lot! LOL
Thanks so much for this great video! Now I don’t feel overwhelmed about cleaning my linen closet. Hurry and get well!
You got this! :D
Love your practical view on Pinterest vs Real Life. Balance! So good to see you. Keep taking care of yourself!
I hope you feel better soon.
Exactly! Thank u. Just watched a laundry room makeover where decor items were on shelf above the washer/dryer, while laundry supplies were behind u in a low cabinet across the room. Too much bending & back n forth to machines to add detergent, go back grab bleach, then go back grab softener. It just wasn't practical.
Exactly!! I should film me yelling at the shows I watch sometimes. LOL
@@TheCraftyOrganizer Yes Noreen film a TikTok reaction video.
I loved the humor in today's video. I hope you feel better soon.
Thank you!
I hope you feel better soon!!
