In universe, the legends of the mythical Oni demon were very likely ancient human interpretations of much earlier Yautja encounters. The same probably stands for many other ancient monster legends across the world; skinwalkers, djinn, Grendel, etc.

The predators movie kinda showed they are willing to sword fight. It fought that yakuza who had a sword. The predator fought like it had some training in sword fighting.
