FYI: There is a format called "Battle Box" that I was not aware of until recently and if you are interested in that you can find more information here: mtgbattlebox.com/ This video is about putting together a group of decks that you can pull out and play on game night with your friends. I've always called those battle boxes, so here we are.
I also built a guild battle box and I’m working on Midnight Hunt \ Crimson Vow battle box. Might go with the superhive. Though I use Dragon shield inners and outers and the boulders are just so tight a fit the cards would probably be loose in there with no deck boxes…
You might want to check out the BCW Prism. They fit in the superhive 550+ and they can hold double sleeved commander decks. (NOTE: They can't hold double sleeved commander decks IF the inner sleeve is the sealable type. It only can be a KMC or Dragon Shield regular perfect fits.) The superhive can fit about 4 prisms which would work for a Midnight Hunt/Crimson Vow Commander Deck Battle Box if that is what you were thinking. Just another option to look at. Thanks for watching!
As a new player, commander is the worst format to learn magic in. In traditional 1v1, you need to figure out a significantly smaller number of cards. Commander usually has 4 player, so twice as many. Commander uses 100 card decks so 40 more than traditional and commander uses singleton so you don't get to see the same card twice.
I completly agree with you, battle box are the best way to play the game without the complication. I've recently introduce new player to the game this way.
I love battle boxes. I created a battle box of all 2 color combinations with those card kingdom battle decks. Planning to do the same for the 3 color decks next
Do you have any criteria for building power-balanced decks? I would like to build 4 budget EDH Decks that have different strategies but keep the power level the same.
For balance I try to match certain things. Like removal or board wipes. Try to keep the same amount in each deck and at a similar mana value. For EDH, make sure the colorless mana rocks are matched. If one deck has a Sol Ring, then they all should have one. Same goes for the mana base in terms of the type of lands. One has check lands, then they all should have their own colors of check lands. This will go a long way in make sure the underlying "engine" of the decks are even.
@@beyondthedeckbox Thanks for your reply, I am going for 1) Isshin, two heavens as one (WBR tokens) 2) Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire (BRG Sacrifice/Primal Surge) 3) Kykar, Wind's Fury (WUR artifact durdle with Kurkesh etc) 4) Falco Spara, Pactweaver (WUG populate/superfriends) Lands and ramp spells should be even... card advantage is kinda color dependant and the general strategies/engines will hopefully not be like rock-paper-scissor archetypes but I guess, this will need lots and lots of playtesting and rebalancing 😅

It’s the ultimate way to convert your bulk cards into the perfect casual kitchen table magic experience.
Absolutely! Give those cards that haven't seen play since the day they were drafted a new life!
Man, I was really confused for a bit there going "This doesn't sound like Battle Box at ALL..." and then read the pinned comment. lol
Great thoughts. "If you build it, they will come."

This makes me excited to plan out and build my personal custom battle box.
That's great!

i do something similar, but its modern onwars...i like a set, i make a few decks from that set only, explore the themes. usually can be balanced

That is great! I think battle boxes are great way to get new players into the game.

I won't tell anyone I won the lottery but their will be signs
This is not a battle box by definition of the mtg format.
