Scott’s choice of cords as well as his cleanliness and clarity just really really shows how much the Bass has evolved, then he so tastefully slid harmonics instead of a bunch of fast notes!!! I’m past the whole “who’s the best”, thing? On this level it’s simply the individuals choice of notes.

I always find it amazing and admirable watching Davide 4:48 and David 6:25 being the point where they are at now, where they're good enough to be categorized together with all these virtuosos, and yet have such humble and simple beginnings on TH-cam, being guys who decided to have fun recording bass covers and funky licks.
This is one of the BEST things TH-cam hass thrown at me for a loooooooong time. Just goes to show how the modern movement has evolved a traditional rhythm instrument into an instrument that covers everything. High melodics, chords, tapping, harmonies, harmonics, percussion, filter pedals, looping..... with the frequency range of the modern bass, low down thump and high end gliss.... this is the one instrument that is closest to a whole bands worth of sounds in my opinon.
So much amazing talent in this video. Thanks Gregor for bringing such a diverse style of players together in one video. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to be apart as well.
Gauk, Zon and Navarro are actually my seconds of joy when watching this video... I always see those 3 guys like 12384760 times before going on with my life
@@jorrevanvaerenbergh2595 He might be able to fly around the room while double thumping with his feet, but the video he chose to share on this compilation is objectively bad. Federico and Scott are easily my favorite two on this list. Not only is their style golden, but their basses sound SO WELL BALANCED compared to most of the others.
If anything, the two most voted for would always be Scott and David biale (Davie504), but i think that Zander zon's classical style and mixing here stands out above the two
0:49 probably the best melody on here, it's beautiful, none of that boring overdone slap stuff, pure, beautiful, bass melody which genuinely sounds great
Nathan Navarro did something quite different from the rest, and DANG, those scales he pulled off were crazy good. Apart from that, Cody Wright stood out as well. :)
sebastian mendoza nope, he's not jaco of our generation, he is MonoNeon. This type of association is really annoying as if one is not able to stand out by himself, needing to be supported by this rotulation. He has Jaco on his path, for sure, but as a reference, not as an objective, or level to reach, or dark hole to be engulfed. He is MonoNeon, one of his kind, as you are you, one of your kind, and so forth.

Great job, Scott! Personally, I'd rank Leo Fender's creations in the top 3 positions: 1) Fender Precision; 2) Fender Jazz Bass; 3) Music Man Sting Ray. Then - and only then - I'd bring other instruments… starting with the Rickenbacker and the Hofner

+Dave Tremblay many bassists are playing keyboards at different spots during a set, especially in hip hop, pop and soul bands. Yeah which is why he gave bass lessons. But he's stopped this year
It’s almost exactly how victor wooten plays , you can tell he’s definitely a huge influence on Scott
you can tell that they're definitely teacher material by the way they play. less of slap bass and more of melodic and clean lines.

The change from Scott Devine to the heavy guy at 3:38 is one of the most uncomfortable things, always have to mute it

Zander Zon's playing was a beautiful classical vibed piece. Nice man!
I love it too! Sadly, I asked if he had a longer version of this and he told me there wasn't. It was just made for this vid :(
Cody Wrights tone had me groovin😂
