    you cant trust ANYBODY. I work in a place infested with snakes and demons who stab you in the back then smile at you showing their teeth when you have the misfortune of being face to face in their company. I just have to build my resilience to face each working day and thank God or whoever for the love and support of my dear family!

    Saw this in 2018, and hope he and other former employees are doing better. Given how (justifiably) angry everyone was after the news broke, if an employee had known something, they would have been prosecuted. So unfair to hold others with much less knowledge and power than government regulators responsible for their bosses actions.

    • @tellurye
      @tellurye 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Michael Moretti I think he was talking about the small fish. You cant really prosecute the small fish cause they would just use the "I was just doing what I was told" defense.

    • @tellurye
      @tellurye 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Michael Moretti Ok psycho, calm down with the caps. I didnt say it was OK or legal. I simply said why none of the small fish are prosecuted. I agree, everyone should have been charged. Including the government. The SEC was warned for decades, and ignored it. Oh sure, there was a big to do on capitol hill with the hearings, but not a single person was charged. I think its disgusting. Jesus... try decaff, man.

    My sister lost her job because she was a lifelong friend of the daughter of a man who turned out to be a fraud. They made it look like she'd quit so they didn't have to pay unemployment. The result was that she spent two years couch surfing and car sleeping with her two boys, then 7 and 13, in tow. She tried to home school them, but really, they went two years without education, the older boy working off the books at odd jobs. She's back in housing now and has four minimum wage jobs, but the family has shattered. Husband divorced her, older boy is basically a hobo, wanders the country taking short term jobs, younger boy is truant from school, gotten into drinking, smoking cannabis, is out of control. Her health is poor so that all she does is work, eat, shower, sleep. I'm not much better off, so can't help her in any practical way. There are no other family left. When you're poor, you don't have friends.

    That sucks. But that's why you should never turn a blind eye to something fishy in your company. Like those employees who worked at Wells Fargo and knew they were stealing from customers. Yes, they probably felt pressured and didn't want to find another job. But wouldn't it be better to find a new job before a scandal breaks than after?

      you can't turn a "blind eye" to something you have no idea is happening. He had no reason to suspect anything fishy was going on, he worked on the 19th floor which is where the two son's ran their legitimate trading business that their father used to hide behind as a shield if you will. He ran his illegal shady scheme two floors down on the 17th floor that no one had access to, not even his sons.

    It is amazing that all those employees didn't question the fact that Madoff had returns of 20% a year even in years the market went down. Most people working in the financial industry have little understandting of their industry. If it is too good to be true, it most likely is not true. Most mutual funds do worse than the S&P 500 yet Madoff consistently beat it. Also, don't invest your money in the company you work for because if the company fails, you lose you money and job. When I worked for a hospital, I didn't put my company 401k match in company stock.

    It would take an unusually courageous bank or investment firm executive to hire an ex-Madoff employee as he is taking a big chance with their high salary job. Their judgment would be suspect if the ex-Madoff employee did not work out. I used to work with a banker who went on to work with Allen Sanford, the fraudster. My ex-colleague only worked for Sanford for several months but he was tarnished and he did not get another banking job and he almost went bankrupt.
