Amazing. My family hails from Benguet and Mountain Province and all through out my life I've been living in the city but Kalinga culture somehow really fascinates me. I had goosebumps when they started beating the gongs. May the younger ones be passionate towards preserving such beautiful culture. Thank you for sharing this video.
Bragging rights, as I am a full-blooded Kalinga. Though my siblings and I weren't born and raised in Kalinga, my parents did not fall short of telling stories of the Iyawe and many good stuff about our culture. These were fond stories engraved in an awed child mind that's why when I was in college, I never missed to join the BIBAK and the CCPG- SLU ( Cordillera Cultural Performing Group). I just wish my dad could have lived longer to continue telling us his stories and that of his parents, grand parents and kins in his dearly loved barrio of Taloctoc. And even now that 2 of my sisters and I are overseas, we carry with us our Kalinga pride. As a matter of fact, I am preparing a presentation for the International Folk Festival here in Fayetteville North Carolina and the FIl-Am community this year is featuring the CORDILLERA. I'm gonna share what I know best about Cordillera , and that would play around the Kalingas and that is also why I happened to come across this video. Long live Kalinga!
+MAR MOS same thing here... goosebumps and tears! I am privileged to have watched this rich artistry, musicality and culture of the people of Kalinga. May your heritage shine through the ages.
