As someone who's been to Disney World but never Disneyland, I've always been a bit lost with the West Coast PeopleMover obsession but this adds a lot of the context I was missing! Great video
It would be, unfortunately if they do end up making something of it, it’ll likely be much further down the line. Luckily we still have a version similar to it at Walt Disney World.
I just subscribed. Either option takes funding that Disneyland lacks. Demolition as part of a rehab of Tomorrowland will be millions of dollars and if done piecemeal will be worse than leaving that abandoned attraction in place, eye sore or not. It will be far more expensive to rebuild the People Mover. There isn't any money left--it all went into a premium experience for the few, sort of a Club 33 in Tomorrowland. I was surprised that when Splash Mountain was shut down that they didn't rebuild it as yet another rich man's exclusive club. Look at what Galactic Starcruiser did in Walt Disney World at the Disney Studios. There seems to have been a blue-sky plan to do the same at Disneyland, a premium Star Wars LARP adventure costing thousands per night. The People Mover is too pedestrian, too "everyman," for the current Disney C-Suite. Note that the Enchanted Tiki Room was originally supposed to be a restaurant, a fine dining experience--like the Rainforest Cafe more recently--but became an attraction back in Walt's day. The Golden Horseshoe was what was planned for the Enchanted Tiki Room, only without the variety. At least the Disneyland Railroad hasn't been deleted.
Mayyyybe maybe if they used parts of the old track as uper seating and viewing platforms with umbrellas or shades and walking paths . Different parts where there's stairs .
TH-cam just recommended this to me, and I don't know why I'm feeling so nostalgic for a park I've never even been to. 😂 It's always sad when things get removed, though! (Like the Great Movie Ride...still not over it. lol)
To comment on the fixing of the track, it's not just the track itself that needs fixing, but the entire support that keeps the track elevated that needs to be fixed, which means tearing down many buildings to fix the tracks that go through the rides (because remember, the support and foundation keeping the track from collapsing goes through multiple buildings, so Disney would need to tear down chunks of star tours and astro blasters in order to get to the major problems in order to make this ride functional again).
Exactly. I will say, I use the term “track” rather loosely in the video. Either way, any changes made to the “track” will big a massive commitment for Disney, which is probably why there hasn’t been much progress for the last few years.
Tear out the old track and rebuild it using generally the same layout, but as Disneyland's version of the Tron Lightcycle ride. That would be cool, and integrate the Carousel of Progress building into the ride as well. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
the old people mover tracks could collaps at anytime because its 70 years old and you got structure fatique that could fall down, my opinion its cheaper to take down the old people mover tracks immediatly than having a possible future earthquake happen and the tracks come crashing on Tomorrowland.
I don't think the rocket rods shut down because of the track being damaged. I have heard from the comments of a few videos that said the rocket rods awful capacity combined with its tendency to stop due to the hard disk systems in the cars caused Disney to shut it down because it was not worth running. The reason the peoplemover never came back was probably because it would require tommorrowland to close for months in order to build a ride which disney does not really care about. So the track is just stuck like this.
If they restore Peoplemover, they better restore launch bay back to a carousel theater. They turned it into an eyesore with innovations (although to their credit it still rotated until 2012)! Let’s restore that eyesore into eye Candy! 🎶There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day!🎶
Give it up! It's "Tomorrowland" - not 1967 land. It would be nostalgic to bring back the people mover, but nostalgia is NOT about Tomorrow. The only thing that could save that part of the park is to plow over everything and start over fresh. Maybe a smaller footprint for Tomorrowland, a re imaging of space mountain (like Tokyo), maybe electric autopia, and update entrance to the monorail station. Tomorrowland is supposed to be a vision to the future and the possibilities of Tomorrow - not a look back at the past.
Putting the People Mover back would just tour the already incredibly DATED and not-so-beautiful-or-futuristic Tomorrowland which is easily the ugliest & most unattractive land at Disneyland. I always thought that was the reason they opted for the Rocket Rods instead of yet ANOTER slow-as-molasses ride. They KNEW that the “new” Tomorrowland was ugly as shit and barely-altered from its original state. So they opted to WHOOSH people through it so that people didn’t get enough time to see just how badly they screwed up Tomorrowland. A shame that the Disney company wasn’t smart enough to properly redo the track with banked curves. Now we have a HUGE pointless track in the most hideous land in the park.
Why people-mover never came back, because it was a popular game to switch carts while the people-mover is running, and they die from falling from the track, Ricky lee Yama, and Geraldo Gonzales were the ones who died
No vision. The immediate loss of revenue from park guests during a reconstruction of the track, including a futuristic (up to code) people mover would substantially increase Disneyland’s future park guest revenue by 1000%. Guaranteed. Walt Disney himself would have it done. Sadly, the people who have the power to have it done-lack vision. Above my emotions is the economical sense of it all.
They had an opportunity to remove the track during the C19 shutdown. I think they do plan to bring it back, or really want to. You know Disney and re-theming, they may be waiting for some IP to be successful enough to warrant the investment. Thats why the Subs were down for so long. They were waiting for the Atlantis movie till it flopped. Subs remained down. Then Finding Nimo came out and was a hit and they brought it back. I think for the people mover and Tomorrowland in general, they were hoping the movie Tomorrowland would be a hit… But it wasn’t.. If they really want the people mover gone, they had several opportunities. Then we have the old America Sings building that it winds through. I know they plan to take down that building at some point, so they cant do much with PeopleMover till they get that figured out. If the track was that damaged, then it would be a hazard to leave up and over peoples heads. A good earthquake is always looming. So if it really is damaged, then it cant be beyond repair.. I mean, they shutdown the Subs before they really knew what they were going to do with it, but knew they wanted to do something with it and left it for years. I think the same is true with Peoplemover. Since its out in the open and winds around Tomorrowland, i think they will do something with it during a full Tomorrowland re-theme once they have some smash hit IP to base it on

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow I had no idea the track was that long and had tunnels. That would be cool if they brought it back.

Also : what if they had peoplemover cubes you could sit in when you eat park refreshments

It may not be as good as it once was, but if you ever find the chance, I feel like everybody should visit Disneyland land at least once 😊😊
The legend has returned, let me know if you wanna collab!
Thanks bro!

It would be amazing but it would be a massive project that would take some serious convincing of the Disney company! Would be awesome though

Answer: Because it's changing to an indoor screen Wallie Ride after Frog Mountain

Disney engineers designed and built it, they can rebuild it if they wanted to. I keep saying bring it all back and call it Transportland.
Hell yeah
Maybe a petitions
CA is the worst
Its certainly could be better.
