I grew up listening to tons of metal bands in the 80s and I am hard pressed to think of one that has been more consistently excellent than Lovebites. ❤

This is one of Lovebites most impactful underappreciated songs. Exposure is a key here. We have the audio-only track and a live track that fails to meet the best professional standards for a live shoot. As a result, this wonderful songs is tragically underviewed. What we need is for the song to be included in the playlist for the next pro-shot concert from Lovebites. Perhaps this arresting song would then get the exposure that it deserves. (I've seen Lovebites live in concert -- every person with a working heart and iron-based blood really, really should).

Incredible shredding in another beutifully constructed metal song. That's the difference for me, LOVEBITES use traditional metal ingredients but put them together to make a gourmet feast every time :)

Yes, many people say that Lovebites is the most melodic heavy metal band in the world. This song is a killer. Yes, even these women have openly said that their influences are the great metal bands of the past but they have been developing their own and unique style.

It is a cool song indeed. It's on my running music playlist and it makes me run twice as fast as I usually could - or at least it feels like it. Twice as fun, definitely. And as others have mentioned: The newly released live video of "Unchained" is absouletly phenomenal!
I can totally relate to what you're saying: I, too, grew up listening to and loving the bands of the 80s, especially Maiden, Priest, Helloween and Accept (another German metal band of the time). I still enjoy listening to them and can't appreciate enough how they created this genre of music. But bands like LOVEBITES have taken that to a new level, which I absolutely adore.
Which reminds me: Helloween recently released a new live video from their concert at the Budokan, this time it's "Future world", which is awesome. Listening to this you can easily hear where LOVEBITES drew part of their inspiration from.
Lovebites Wednesday (or as I call it, the midway point between Band-Maid Monday and Band-Maid Fridays)! What a classic sounding opening riff - if it was the first track on an album, you'd definitely buy the album (actually Addicted was the first song but that had the same effect and, tbh, I just bought it without listening anyway!). 🤘🤘 Thanks for all the comments about guitars you give us, nice to hear your experienced take on different techniques and styles. What you say about Lovebites always being MetalAF and being amazed when watching their musicianship live but also being able to just put their album on and enjoy the music purely on an enjoyable/visceral/listen to over and over/fuck yeah! kind of level is completely true. What you said about watching and listening to Yngwie, I get with Guthrie Govan, who is the only person I've seen (OK, and Obi-Wan Kanami) who knows every possible sound that can be got out of every part of a guitar. Fascinating to watch with my jaw on the floor but I don't often put an album on and enjoy it for itself. It is, for me (IMHO, of course...and I'm probably in the minority...just my opinion...and that's enough copping out) more about appreciating and enjoying seeing his incredible technical ability, as his genres aren't my go-to ones, though I enjoy them. Lovebites and Band-Maid are literally the only two bands I can think of where I play their music daily for solely for the pleasure of the music but also - usually daily too - like to watch and marvel at them playing live. Or showing how they compose and record. Or playing and relaxing. Or anything really, it's all good!

Great reaction guys!! Totally agree with you about their inspirations. I do have interest in many of the little details from this band's inspirations. Both Miyako and Midori have both mentioned Dime Bag Darrell as inspiration, but more specifically Miyako grew up listening to all the classic rock and really old school metal albums from the 70s & 80s. Miyako once listed Deep Purple's Deep Purple in Rock, Queen's Queen II & Metallica's Master of Puppets as albums that have shaped her musical outlook.
Midori is heavily inspired by Malmsteen, Nuno Bettencourt & Kiko Loureiro as her guitar Heros. Miho was very inspired by Iron Maiden's Steve Harris and a big fan of many classic metal & hard rock bands. Haruna's mostly inspired by Helloween's Uli Kusch's Drumming style.
In a recent interview, Midori explains that they respect the core of Heavy Metal since it lives forever.
During the writing of their EP Battle against Damnation, Midori said that she paid respect to her hero Mikio Fujioka who had recently passed away in 2018, She added some guitar parts to pay respect to him, He was one of the original guitarists in Babymetal.

Yngwie was my favourite musician for over 30 years... and then I discovered Lovebites, who finally dethroned him for me! As for this song... it's one of a rare few from their earlier albums that has no official live version. I really love this song, and I want it on a live bluray! Looking forward to when that day arrives!
Its the last song Miyako wrote for Clockwork Immortality album. Her solo is perfection, second part. Asami did the vocals great too. Flawless melodic masterpiece, gotta love it
Love this song! Thanks for reacting to it. Fyi- it's not always Midori in left ear and Miyako in right. Early Lovebites had them switched up. You can see it in some of their earlier videos. Either way, this band is beyond words. And yes, the melodies and harmonizing are phenomenal. Keep up the great work!

LOVEBITES was named best Power Metal group of 2024 by the Heavy Metal Awards. They are going to play at a metal festival in Mexico City next month. I watched their Unchained live video a few times as well as some reactions and I love the live version a lot more.
I listen to the albums and EPs from start to finish. They don't have bad songs.
Another song called Puppet On Strings is a different song that I like more each time I hear again.

Mastermind 01 was the last song Miyako wrote for my favorite LOVEBITES album “Clockwork Immortality” . Miho compared it to “Scream for Me” Asami’s fast vocal delivery reminded them of rap music. 🤘

I agree Jimmy, there are bands and artists out there that can shred like the gods, but can they keep it interesting for a whole song? or a full album?
Thats where Lovebites comes in for me, these ladies can seriously play but they also have the songwriting and composing skills to go along with the shred and make it interesting musically!
I think that is why they became my favorite band, they give me the best of both worlds, technique and emotion, and that's a hard balance to achieve for most bands!

to those that say LOVEBITES music is nothing new - and there are a few out there - yes and no. it's not new in the respect they they brought back the 80's style of metal. but at the same time it's all new - new songs written by the ladies and all of them kick ass. new as to the unbelievable talent coming out of japan. new that puts american music in the dumpster. i'm waiting for one of these naysayers to post a video of their own ability to do what LOVEBITES has done. Lovebites' solos serve the song, they aren't just there to show off. A lot of guitar solos seem just tacked on. I'm sure that's because the person who does the composing is one of the people soloing.
Lovebites is the daughter of 80s/90s metal. She learned from her parents, but became better than them.
Ok l love your stuff but metal was born in the industrial north of England like Birmingham. Sabbath and Priest grew as an expression of the environment in the steel industries thus the expression Heavy Metal was coined to describe these new style bands. Totally agree with everything else you say and this generation needs a Lovebites. 😊

Sorry but I think your missing the point. I'm not criticing you guys to bring you down. I'm trying to educate, theirs a world of difference. If I didn't value your opinions then l wouldn't bother. Yes you had the Schenker brothers out of Germany but the scene was dominated by Sabbath and later Priest. And no European would ever call Birmingham a European city. I'm a child of the early 60's so lived through it. I've never got into Priest and stopped listening to Sabbath in my 20's. In fact my preferred guitar style is Jazz Rock Fusion. And Jazz has roots in Southern America and Latin America I have no trouble with that. In other words lm not some biased British metal only fan. Anyway l leave you guys in peace in future 😊

finally - a rection to my absolute favorite of LOVEBITES heavy metal songs . i've left a link about a hundred times to various reactors to do this song over the last 5 years and have had only one taker in that time. they have only played this song live once at a show called 'invitation to the theater' but yet the video showed a still photo instead of the actual live performance.
If you havent all Members at the same Top Level you cant play Music like this
In a way Lovebites remind me a lot of UFO, great guitar riffs mixed in with great melodies, the music genre is a bit different but the feeling is the same.
Shout out to Haruna on this track, her drum fills are perfectly added to give a bit more oomph to what is a fairly basic beat.
That opening riff is so mega with that guitar tone, there is something captivating about the sound of an electric guitar, fell for it when I first heard Black Sabbath the song, that opening Chord is epic.
Cool reaction to another Miyako song from my favourite a-side by our Ladies. Its a bit Mötley Crüeish dont You think and its something about the solos on songs written by Miyako, can't really say why though. Anyways, keep em' coming.

Hi guys, thanks for another cool reaction. Checking the liner notes that came with the CD it turns out that Midori starts this solo part and then Miyako takes over - so I suppose in this recording it must be Midori's guitar in the right channel doing the "pig squeals" and Miyako's in the left. Not that it makes much of a difference, since they both rule.
Lol... Yes you know while listening I kind of figured it was Midori because of the style but I was just following what the Wolfpack had told us LOL. It's really apparent

Same here - the first part sounded more like Midori to me - she tends to go into her solos full throttle and keeps it up, whereas it seems to me Miyako includes more tempo changes - that's why I looked it up. We're just used to seeing/hearing Midori on the left and Miyako to the right in their more recent live videos. But if you watch their earlier videos (such as the ones taken at Wacken in 2018) they were actually on opposite sides. Cheers!
