Grateful to have that rematch completed. Madera is a game opponent and came out swinging. Nothing but respect for him. Now time to get after that title.
Took some shots in the first but the most significant was the poke, those hits that connected with some power didn't give a significant reaction once though.
Beautiful from Varga. Most average fighters would have been stuck at long range not knowing how to deal with the blitz, but amazing pressure from Varga, he is a very good fighter.
6:35 the commentator talking about how Gabe was throwing strikes in both legal and illegal grounded positions and saying the ref wasn't stopping it just shows how dumb and confusing the rules are
You could say the same for boxing: back fist, hammer fist, stiff arm, pushing, holding, intentional vs unintentional hitting back of the head and headbutting, scoring in general. Every sport has a lot of rules, competitors who break them, and refs that don't always catch it.
We’ve had Tyson Fury throw an elbow in his boxing match w/ Francis Ngannou, and aside from Francis eating that like a TicTac there was no ref interference despite everyone else (including sports photographers) seeing it. It happens that the ref misses actions, whether intentionally on anyone’s part or not.
I have to say I’m really starting to enjoy karate combat. As a taekwondo black belt who moved into Thai kickboxing and mma in recent years it’s really enjoyable to watch these fights between kick boxers and more traditional karate strikers. Having Bas and George on commentary is just perfect too.
That adaptation by Varga against Madera's blitzes and speed advantage was remarkable, leading him to getting close with short elbows and opening up the cut on Madera. Very bloody but it's hard to fault Varga's strategy, especially given he was cut as well and could have suffered the same fate.
Check out Rob Whittakers mw run in the ufc he had a blitz style. And also watch his fights vs israel adesanya who shows exactly how to use superior iq and counters to stop a blitze tactic in its tracks.
@@miskatonicuniversityavclub202 Sure those pullcounter by Adesanya were flawless but i feel like more than 5 inches of reach advantag didnt hurt either.
For sure. People underestimate Point-Fighting backgrounds for being "just fast" as if that speed doesn't have good power along with it. Just cause they have to adjust for full contact doesn't change the fact many of them are Olympic athletes at the end of the day.
@@eddard9442 Yeah, from what I’ve seen he usually takes his time to study his opponent, but this first round looked pretty bad compared to other fights of his, and I was amazed at how good of an adjustment he made
Damn good fight for a 3 rounder. I think the experience Varga has showed through very clearly. I was worried when he started walking into that quite telegraphed right hand in rd 3 but clearly he smelled blood (literally?) and was confident he could take what was being thrown at him. People probably know but for anyone that doesnt, Varga has a really good youtube channel where he talks very honestly and clearly about combat sports from his experience. Its really awesome and a privilege to hear direct from a guy who has seen so much.
7:40 That's like a clear cut example of a stoppage injury, an experienced Muay Thai ref would immediately call this fight off right here, kind of crazy this fight continued. Cut is right above the eye and is very visibly bleeding into the eye. Madera really took some unnecessary damage after this.
Funny to see Gabriel Varga always teach really interesting techniques, while this fight was just "elbow elbow elbow elbow elbow elbow elbow elbow elbow elbow" hahaha. Great lad. Honorable martial artist! Taught me so much. I'm so happy he won, against an olympian karateka no less!
Love Gabriel, but lets give props to the man who took the fight to him. Point karate is always looked down upon, but its quite clear that with some adjustment it can be very effective. Even against accomplished opponents.
Gabriel has really high fight iq-Madeira fast and explosive with the Karate blitzes-Takes Gabriel a round to make the adjustments and alter the range and game plan and just shut down Madeira’s game. Varga’s a true pro!
Love Varga but the rule set seems to be all over the place? Can anyone tell me if those strikes on the ground that opened up his opponent were within the rules?
Grateful to have that rematch completed. Madera is a game opponent and came out swinging.
Nothing but respect for him. Now time to get after that title.
Great fight! I wish I were only half as good as you. I hope that you get that title shot someday!
You obliterated him! Idk why you're not champ!
Are you not allowed to throw some jabs on this ruleset?
Great fight. Big fan and love your channel tutorials as well! 👍
Having GSP as a commentator was the best decision they made
Agree.
Ye GSP and Bas is an all star team
With Bas ofc.
With Bas
Johnny Hendrix son
That was brutal. Good job Gabriel.
“That was nice”
Sliced with those elbows!
Dang, one of the bloodiest fights I've seen. Great comback for Varga after the damage he sustained in the first round.
You mean the eye poke lol
So you never watched GSP vs Mayhem? Or almost any Clay Guida fight? Stephen Bonnar???
Took some shots in the first but the most significant was the poke, those hits that connected with some power didn't give a significant reaction once though.
"Transformed himself unto the perfect nemesis for his opponent" very well articulated by GSP. And ofc amazing job by the 6x champ, Gabriel Varga!
It's crazy he won this. The dude was sick, but just like George said, he made himself the perfect opponent, he found a way to win without physicalilty
"Yeah that was nice"
That cracked me up.
Beautiful from Varga. Most average fighters would have been stuck at long range not knowing how to deal with the blitz, but amazing pressure from Varga, he is a very good fighter.
former glory world champ.
@@FanboyOfMuayThai yep, an actual real champ
Yeah, I was waiting for the leg kicks. Then in R2, they came.. big time
Thats my online kickboxing coach! He just doesnt know im his student
Our sensei did us proud
As many of us. Oss
Ditto!

Don't even know why ground striking even exist lol, mind as well add in soccer kicks and knee to grounded opponents
Varga inspires me
I have to say I’m really starting to enjoy karate combat.

The fight IQ on display here is next level. The ability to make fast adjustments and control the fight was just beautiful.
Was not expecting to see Varga goin ham w/ the vicious GnP😂 Great job champ!
Gabriel "analyse, adapt & overcome" Varga... very impressive!
Karate Combat is so underrated
What a privilege to watch. Thank you to both warriors
What an amazing fight. Those elbows were brutal
Great fight Varga. Was cheering for ya
Damn, imagine having GSP commenting your fight live. What an honor.
dang this was the best karate combat fight I've seen so far
I never thought the blitz could be so effective. Good show.
The small gloves makes me realize a different guard is probably better

I love Varga. True inspiration and just an absolute legend of a fighter.
Wow
I was scared for you gabriel that guy was fast as hell and tough for a point fighter
I had the same thoughts, I was thinking Varga was not doing anything to deter his opponent from attacking him.
For sure. People underestimate Point-Fighting backgrounds for being "just fast" as if that speed doesn't have good power along with it. Just cause they have to adjust for full contact doesn't change the fact many of them are Olympic athletes at the end of the day.

Dude its my guy!!
That is why Muay Thai is the king of stand up combat.
Im sure GV will do a recap video on Monday
Good fight.Really enjoyed it.
GSP as a commentator 👍
Gabriel has a great utube channel, he s a great fighter ,great teacher and openly shares his knowledge and wisdom in his channel. 👍🇦🇺

Yep the round went the same way the previous did
LETS GOOOO GABRIEL!!!!!!! What a great fight from both men!!!!
Respect is good to see after such a fight.
Amazing ❤️🔥 for Vargas, full support for the kickboxing Champ 💪🏽
great stuff champ 🔥💥, congrats 👏👏
This is the most aggressive I've seen Vargas! Great job bro! Taking advantage of the refs lack of rule knowledge! Word!
Gabriel "The Computer"Varga 🔥
Awesome bloody fight. I love em
Varga is just a joy to watch, just good fundamental fighting, classic high guard, and high IQ absolutely amazing
Wow! Congratulations Gabriel
Woo!!!Gabriel!!! Awesome come back and adkustment!!
great fight a real battle
Funny to see Gabriel Varga always teach really interesting techniques, while this fight was just "elbow elbow elbow elbow elbow elbow elbow elbow elbow elbow" hahaha. Great lad. Honorable martial artist! Taught me so much. I'm so happy he won, against an olympian karateka no less!
He always says not to overcomplicate things
what works works
Nice fight, I like the new rules. Loved the throws and elbows.
Very bloody and painful contest for both fighters. Excellent display.
Damn good fight, Gabriel my guy you did it great job.
This is Amazing 🎉🎉🎉
Nice, savage job Gabriel... Love it.
Amazing fight!
Super intelligenter kämpfer, ruhig, präzise, super stark. GV 💪
Gabriel had to hurt him to stop the blitz, this was a stunning win by Gabriel Varga after a tough first round.
Really entertaining fight. Big congrats to Gabriel Varga.
Patient stalking and crisp strikes from Varga. Good match from both artists.
Man, the commentators are spot on!
5:17 HELLBOW 💀

Great match
Great improvement from varga - good Job!
Well done coach Varga... OSS 🥊🔥

Brutal Sensei !!! CHURI RYU...👊🔥
Is GSP commentating?
Yes
GSP & Bas
Love Gabriel, but lets give props to the man who took the fight to him.
Point karate is always looked down upon, but its quite clear that with some adjustment it can be very effective. Even against accomplished opponents.
Right on Gabriel🎉
The reigning Champ! Varga is a true karate warrior!
karate combat the best GSP legend
Let's go coach Gabriel!!!
Love Gabriel🎉
Very proud of him.
Good win Gabe!
Does karate combat allow elbowing now?
sensei casually reminding us why he's our sensei
Varga used that experience he gained from those few MMA fights he had, viscous ground and pound
Did it make you viscous?
The fact that Gabriel did this well while sick is crazy, the dude was visible slow, but that fight IQ is so high man....
Our TH-cam coach won😁😁😁
Varga figured this out really quick.
Varga siempre el mejor!!!! grande!
Good job, Varga 💪
2:47 - Bas called it. Gabriel Varga completely changed his strategy after round 1. He's forcing Madera to move laterally so he can't blitz.
Man, Varga really turned this match into a slasher movie
Great defense from Varga
Love Gabriel style
Him and Petr who keeps guard up as myself I used to be fan old style in boxing
Congrats, Gabe.
Gabriel Varga Is a legend
Hey is this the new home of the PBD (valuetainment) podcast that they just purchased in Florida? Looks exactly like it.
lets go Varga!!!
My first time seeing blood at Karate Combat.
oliveira vs Kavakopoulou was pretty bloody
You must be pretty new to KC
@decidingpaper6324 No, just never seen it.
Was this today
No this is a replay from the other day's event.
Gsp and nice fight
Good elbows Varga!

Gabirel❤
Varga did his damn thing
More brutal than ufc 👏
👏👏👏
Varga is out of this planet 👽
Love Varga but the rule set seems to be all over the place? Can anyone tell me if those strikes on the ground that opened up his opponent were within the rules?
He had both knees on the ground, which makes the elbows illegal. The ref blew it.
Great not having to hear Robin Black; the one thing holding Karate Combat back from being something you want to tell your friend about.
This is more entertaining than boxing wow
Madera came out like a lion but was not ready for that MMA action
