From the video, the Pro II seems to retrieve sounds at a higher resolution. You can definitely hear the details and crispness of the sounds. The XLR is good too but things don't sound as crisp. It's like watching a video in 1080p vs 4k... but with your ears. Regardless of what you choose, we'll keep watching :). Thanks Bunnii!
Definitely the Pro II ! Truthfully I’ve never been a fan of the XLR because for some reason it always sounds very synthetic to me no matter who is using it. But with the pro it sounds crisp and clear - way better!
14:31 i think the ‘far away’ whispers and sounds, especially with the walking-around-the mics, are sooo underrated and I wish more asmrtists did it 😴 thank you
Thanks. A very interesting and useful comparison. The XLR seems to have a higher noise floor, but it's not just amplification or self noise; it seem to pick up more of the background noise that is all around us all the time that we normally don't notice. You can even hear cars passing quite well. The background noise is still there on the Pro, but the audio level of it is quite a bit less. In both cases, it can be filtered out, but I quite like it as it makes the recording sound more naturalistic. There is potentially something a bit eerie about a recording that lacks noise or reverb, things that give it a sense of space.
This may sound weird but the settings/mics you used for your final thoughts sounded really good. I personally like when soft speaking into mics can sound a little distorted. Something about it just helps me feel tingles.
Thank you! lol I know some people actually do enjoy the buzzy sounds but I know if can def feel a bit harsh on others' ears 😅 thank you again, Im happy you enjoyed it!
the pro II sounds cleaner overall but i still got tingles with both because you’re so dang good at asmr. 🫶🏻 the pro II is better at filtering out background noise but with the xlr it wasn’t bothersome. enjoyed both 💗💗
The XLR has more ambient sounds. Which can be tingly in their own right. The Pro II has more of a noise canceling feel. Which is good for focusing on the pure sounds of each trigger. I find the Pro II better for the ear kissing and scratching on the top of the mics. Both of which rank 1 and 2 respectively in terms of triggers for me.
From this video it seems like the FS Pro II has better noise cancellation and sounds cleaner overall. The other I can hear slight background sounds and seems more sensitive to sounds from the brush, so it can seem more tinglier in that regard. This is just observations from this video
I like that the Pro has much less background noise, especially when listening with headphones which i do most of the time. Maybe it can be compensated on the XLR by reducing the master and doing the sounds and whispering a bit louder. The white noise can be nice sometimes, but if it's almost as loud as the whispering or the triggers it can feel a bit disturbing. At least to me.
Most people wont hear the difference but to me the FS XLR has a more "muffled" sound but it also sounds richer and punchier. The FS Pro II is more open sounding but also a little bit tinnier and has more emphasis on the highs.
I was almost sold on the XLR being good enough until the side by side comparison. I'm mainly gonna be using it for speaking, and It was hard to hear what you were saying under the wind of your breath on left side, and everything you said on the right side was crystal clear.
I feel like some people will just tell you that the Pro is better bc it cost 3x the price, so it must be 3x as good, right?! You should make a sound comparison where you don't reveal which mic you're using, and ask people to guess which is which. Personally, I don't think the Pro is worth spending 3x as much money as the XLR, when the XLR already produces such a great sound.
The Pro II is better, noise cancelling and overall sound difference, but for the price difference it is hard to say if it’s worth it. Either one is tingly. The XLR catches background noise, but the subtle noise I always find soothing so I’m biased.
My honest opinion on the two different mics is that while the FS XLR is more nostalgic (at least for me, you probably feel differently lol) it isn’t as crisp like the Pro II is. Someone else here compared the two like watching a video in 1080p and 4k but with your ears and I wholeheartedly agree with them.
they both sound good but honestly i think the pro II sounds signings significantly better, it sounds more balanced in its tone with slightly better quality and a bit less peaking
You really do have *that* talent of making everybody feels relaxed If you want, you can actually make an ASMR dedicated for helping people relaxed with specific problems (breakups, bad interview, bullied, etc.) for a quick 10-15 min video with some brushes, kisses or affirmations and I'm sure it would be a great help for those people in need. Cheers✌
I think I get nervous to make those in case the people its intended for dont like it lol but I will do my best to not think like that and try to make some ❤
Loved feeling like we're part of an actual hardware test. Last night I planned on paying attention to give some feedback, but I was out a few minutes into the first mic, so maybe the asmr worked a bit too well... on second listen it occurs to me that when I listen to asmr in bed I'm not using my expensive Sony cans, I'm using cheap squishy earbuds so I can lay on my side. And with those it is really hard to tell the difference. Also, idk how much this matters but the white one showed up on camera way better. Especially if you're doing low lighting for sleep vids then the visual asmr on the black ones might be pretty hard to see, though maybe you could get neon brushes for a high contrast cyberpunk vibe or something.
Well i guess my headphones are not really good enough to pick up the sound discrepancy between the two mics but apparently the Pro II is better, judging by the vast majority of the comments..anyways this was an excellent idea and a great video as always 💚
Surely a great microphone can make the difference, but I like to think it's also a matter of talent. You have this talent for ASMR, so you can chill into any microphone🥰
Bunnii you can definitely hear the difference between the two. The Pro is cleaner in sound and the details are crisper. However, it's so much more expensive. We watch your content for you. I really wouldn't care if you didn't bother with the extra cost of the Pro.
Bro honestly your awesome and the only real reason I am saying this is because you aren't using your body to get views like other ASMR creators so I hope you actually get more subs and actually your a real and good asmrist BRO their is no way you did the twin effect so perfectly omg you might be the best honestly
The sound is so much better from far away. Better separation. The second one is much clearer. And very little white noise. When you are back from the first one it sounds good. But the second one is much better
It’s outrageous 3Dio aren’t paying you to use their mics 😂 That’s the real issue. But both sound excellent, and I’m glad someone has done the research and field testing.

When you bought the XLR, did it come with XLR cables? Also, what audio output mixer are you using, and do you have it plugged into your computer or camera when recording? I’m about to purchase one and would love to know! 😊
Unfortunately they don’t come with xlr cables 😞 and for cables I would just make sure to read the reviews but otherwise I’ve used expensive ones and cheap ones and personally have never noticed a difference. When I filmed this i may have used a Focusrite but when I am recording at my desk I use a Rodecaster 2 and just record the audio and video through OBS lol; when I record outside of my office I use a Tascam Portacapture 8x and camera but line up the audio in editing, which I could totally just hook it up to my camera to record them together but I just don’t 😅😂. My favorite to use is the Tascam, mostly because I feel like it has a quieter internal noise/ doesn’t create as much white noise when you turn it up higher, and that it’s small and easy to move around. Hope that helped ☺️
@@its_bunniiI have another question! Now that I have the mic, when I record and listen to it back - it doesn’t sound like it’s in each ear separately. How did you change it so the audio was in each ear when you used OBS? I have the focusbrite 212i and the 3dio XLR,

The FS PRO II uses *DPA 4060* capsules, which are high-end studio grade, low self-noise, high SPL, moisture-resistant mic capsules.
DPA sells these microphones individually as the DPA CORE 4060 Lavalier mics that are $500 each.
Their manufacturing and performance tolerances are so tight that you don't have to worry about buying "matched pairs" of mic capsules, as you do with any other lower quality capsules.
They do not sell the capsules separately to the public, only to DPA Authorized service centers for warranty repairs/damage/replacement.
FYI, DPA microphones were chosen by NASA scientists to go to Mars on the Perseverance Rover to listen for any potential environmental sounds on Mars as well as to listen to and help evaluate and troubleshoot any electro-mechanical issues that might plague the Rover.
The ONLY other capsules that can even compare are the Josephson/Microtec-Gefell and Earthworks scientific measurement microphone capsules which are also very expensive.
You could potentially buy 2 of the *DPA 4060 CORE Lavalier mics* for a DIY binaural rig. However, getting the EXACT and IDENTICAL Placement of each capsule inside the Left and Right ear orifices is critical and no easy task without special measurement software.
In your comparison, the FS PRO II was significantly better in all regards... Clarity, Dynamics, a silent "black" background (no self-noise that mask quiet subtle details), and higher S/N ratio.
