DIY HOIST WITH MOTORCYCLE BRAKE SYSTEM

Project no.140 diy homemade Hoist With Brake
This version of hoist has a brake system, i used a motorcycle brake assembly and a shut off valve to release the brake, (i use motorcycle hub brake)
the motor is 1/2hp but i recommend to use bigger hp like 1.5hp.
-upon testing the project i already showed that the project can lift up to 50kg, i stop the testing of the machine because my roof might fall.

Uh, the brake is useless since your gearbox is a worm reduction, which can't be driven from the output shaft...

My thoughts exactly,also you could make a simple ratchet safety mechanism for a fraction of cost and time.

Not all worm gear will stop when not driven. When heavy loaded it will still roll. And the brake will do its work the most when the worm gear brokes inside.
