It's true that on a NES, sprites are limited to only 3 colors each, but the OG Super Mario Bros. 2 uses a programming trick to allow sprites with a 4th color (the white of the player's eyes)!
It basically "juggles" every sprites, with each sprites disappearing in turn for a single frame in order to account for the extra data.
All in all, your sprites are pretty great, and it's no wonder the hack keeps the 3 colors limit on the customs! (Though THEIR Sonic has the luxury of 4!)

Well, in vanilla SMB2, killing a boss and dying at the same time can indeed cause the door to appear, but of course you can't enter it while dead, and on your next life, the boss is alive and at full health again.
Perhaps the randomizer rerolls the boss's HP with each individual encounter, and set Triclyde's HP to 0 for some reason the second time, which caused it to instantly keel over on the next life. Or, maybe some other unintended side-effect occurred somehow. I honestly have no idea.
@@SomeGuy712x that is so big, that on my computer, and on the TH-cam notification screen, I could not see it. I accidentally let go of the phone when holding the notification (my moto e6 can do that).

lol this was cool. Sonic seems to be toad, bjunes is princess, and as you guessed, buzzy beats is luigi. What's weird is the order you had the characters is the same order as the original ones. Coincidence?
I thought I mentioned it in the video but maybe not. The character stats are randomized.

The 5 seconds I had looked away from the video was right when you clicked on random stats checkbox where you said random jump heights and things. So derp on my part. The custom characters are cool and it's neat you can make it so they are different every game.
