    You can’t remove the axles and drive the car, the axles keep the bearings pressed in and you will destroy the bearings and maybe your hubs. You can put the outer end in without the axle-shaft and that will work. However it will require disassembly of the axle assembly.

    • @nandoa6912

      I also have a 2007 front wheel drive Murano and it is set up identical to my all-wheel drive Murano minus the rear differential, driveshaft, and rear axles. You make a good point but not sure that applies to my car.

    • @MrGoMario

      No. On most vehicles is exactly as you say but not on the Xtrail, Murano or Renault Duster! (All of them use the exact same drive train)

    I just unplugged the electronic coupler connector and took away the issued with pulsating braking of differential. Gives warning light but works great now for just disconnecting the plug.

    Most cars use the CV axles to hold in wheel bearings on drive wheels. This is not recommended on all vehicles. I won't check for this Murano, but do this with caution.

    • @nandoa6912

      The reason why I didn't change any gears is because I couldn't find any rebuilding kit so I'm assuming everything inside does not have serviceable parts and it was just easier to buy the new differential at $200.

    Question, when you got the grinding nose, was it only when you made right turns? I test drive a Nissan ran great other than a on right sharp turns, the rear sounded like it was grinding, and it was shifting/ shaking. It was on the rear passenger side.

    • @nandoa6912

      @@nandoa6912 Good video, just purchased a 2009 Nissan Murano with 136k miles on it. The seller just replace the transfer case that had went bad, but we both didn't know was the differential was also so bad. When I would make left and right turns I would hear loud shuddering and clunking coming from the rear of the vehicle. Being that this is all wheel drive all these parts are connected and what we realized the bad differential is what caused the transfer case to go bad. So when you have a bad differential make sure that your transfer case is not damaged from the differential. So $600 parts and labor with a 6-month warranty on a new/or junk yard differential I had the work done and the vehicle runs perfectly now.

    Question if some one can answer will be vary appreciated: I just did this in a 2015 Murano, took the main shaft and the rear axles out, I did put the outer end in without the axle-shaft : "safety first". Have a heavy oil leak in the differential. My millage improve from 18.5 to 22.5 doing the same driving so this thing is going to remain like this. Now I want to take the differential out. The questions are. The air hoses connected are for vacuum or cooing or what, should I just block them or join them together..? And the connector for the clutch/selenoid that engages the all wheel drive should I just disconnected is it monitor by the system? Thank you for your time to answer.

    • @nandoa6912
      @nandoa6912  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your drive axles act as seals. If you remove them then you will have a leak so that is why I removed the driveshaft so the differential would not spin dry.

    I have a 2007 all wheel drive Nissan Murano I'm getting a grinding noise it sounds like the emergency brake cable tapping the drive shaft however when I put the cable up I still heard a slight grinding is getting louder and louder I wonder if it's the rear diff?
    I did take out the rear driveshaft from the rear diff up to the carrier bearing I replace the rear k frame "New England rust" the rest of Murano is mint, the motor runs strong just not sure if grinding is rear diff. or if it's the transfer bearings.
    If I cut the 1 inch rear CV shafts going to rear tires will they slide right out?

    • @nandoa6912
      @nandoa6912  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think the emergency brake cable would cause a grinding noise IMO. If you're sure it's coming from the back then it probably is the rear differential or the wheel bearings. If you hear it under or next to your seat, check the transfer case. I wouldn't cut anything. Good luck.

      The Murano is always AWD. When you press the AWD button, the vehicle goes into high lock drive for snow, sand, dirt, anything that is not on an even paved surface. Don't use it on paved roads or highway because you will damage it.
