    I've had 3 of these go wrong so I'll definitely be upgrading mine. Thanks for the video. It makes sense.

      Thanks, if you do replace the OEM bearing#8885 there's a FAG fibre cage and also a steel cage:
      FAG 7200-B
      This 7200-B-TVP bearing is a single row angular contact bearings with a modified internal construction and a glass fiber reinforced polyamide cage.
      FAG 7200-B-JP
      This 7200-B-JP bearing is a single row angular contact bearings with a modified internal construction and a sheet steel cage.

    Excellent demonstration. I’m doing the dive into the spring plate issue.. will be installing Energy One extra plate kit and was looking for a video on the throw out bearing upgrade with a FAG 7200B. Just what I needed, much appreciated.

      Thanks, glad it helped, there's two types of bearing you can use, one with a glass fibre cage and the other with steel:
      FAG 7200-B
      This 7200-B-TVP bearing is a single row angular contact bearings with a modified internal construction and a glass fibre reinforced polyamide cage.
      FAG 7200-B-JP

      Thank you, hope it’s helpful, I think you should be able to replace the bearing by just removing the derby cover but I’d put rag around the hole just in case the clip wanted to fall in.

    Great video, but if you put the bearing in the freezer and holder in boiling water the bearing will just pop in, not being critical!!

    Thanks for the tip .I have replace my 6200 for a 7200. I have a Rekluse clutch and i think is more important to have a contact bearing in this cluth . I wonder too why Harley or Rekluse not have think about that before. Same as the stupid springplate in the original clutch.. Have a nice day Regards Bjorn in Sweden.

    Thanks for this. Very helpful. I noticed the new 7200B bearing has a lot more play than the stock bearing, which had almost no play. Is there a preference for the TVP vs JP bearing?

    • @Bikervation
      @Bikervation  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I noticed that as well but after fitting and thinking about it all became clear, it may help to read the article I refer to above in the video description “LINK TO THE SPORTSTERPEDIA.COM ARTICAL."
      The force on the bearing is pulling away from the clutch which compresses the spring and if you look at the drawings I put in you will notice the “shoulder” that the balls act against is better suited for this Angular thrust than a deep grove bearing.
      However I am not qualified to give a firm answer but that’s how I came to see it. Hope that helps? Regards Chris

    Would you recommend the fiber cage or steel cage?
    Helpful video, thank you!

      Hi, Thanks for watching and commenting. I went with the glass fibre reinforced polyamide cage which seemed more than adequate to me. If you needed more detailed information than I am able to give the FAG data sheets should help.

    Technically absolutely correct! Harley made several mistakes with this clutch.

    I was wondering about the TVP vs JP bearing as well. The TVP uses a plastic cage and the JP uses steel. The specs are identical with the exception of the temperature rating, with JP being higher. Maybe better to go with the JP?

    • @Bikervation
      @Bikervation  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching, I went for the glass fibre reinforced polyamide cage, but I guess it’s a personal choice as both do the job.

    Ive replaced mine with a bdl energy 1 clutch and the TVP one 3 months later clutch failed coming off a round about the spring seat and clip gave way i have changed both and the clutch spring looked fine lucky enough i have rebuild the clutch and the lever is sloppy as hell clutch doesnt work not sure if this has failed aswell looks like the same amount of play as it did when installed tried everything adjustment wise nothing working

    • @Bikervation
      @Bikervation  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mines been fine, are you sure you reassembled everything correctly? I only use the Harley manual for my year, I also have a Clymer XL Sportster 2004-2013 for additional reference

    • @scousebikers
      @scousebikers 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Bikervation I was up late last night and drained the bike about 6 hours prior I removed everything and the plates where dry 🙃 on assembly I did soak the plates 3 months back but when the clutch gave way last week I won't lie I never resoaked them as the plates where still in the basket I can't see how this would make the lever with all adjustments still loose however

    • @Bikervation
      @Bikervation  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@scousebikersIf everything is assembled correctly all I can think of is the clutch cable outer as it goes into the primary case. I'd adjust the clutch cable as per manual, try the lever - if it was loose check adjustment again, I guess if you need to readjust then the outer cable sheath is not seated and is slipping. That's about all I can think of. Chris

    • @scousebikers
      @scousebikers 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Bikervation Yeah mate adjusted both at clutch and slack out of cable aswell but it's like there's no clutch at all it definitely pulling but doesn't do much hopefully get to the bottom soon bud 😉
