For those who might not know , Lagos served as Nigeria's capital from 1914 to 1991. However, due to its congestion and lack of proper planning , the government sought a new planned capital city, which led tp the selection of Abuja which also referred to as the Federal Capital Territory because of its the administrative capital city of Nigeria , In this video I would be visiting Abuja, Nigeria's capital city for the first time sharing my experience and first impression, I was shocked !

Fantastic job bro👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 You are good with your craft, love your narration and you captured Abuja city perfectly. Just know that I've been longing for you to visit the capital city. Its not like there aren't other planned cities around Nigeria, they are just mostly not intentional enough, or failed to adhere strictly to the masterplan. However, Abuja is the only "Purposeful" Planned cit with intentionality.

lol a very important factor that led to that was because Lagos being the capital city gave Yorubas an upper hand in the Nigerian federation, so to be fair to every tribe a new capital city had to be made in a “central” location so every tribe don’t feel neglected

Lagos is a fairly old city. Around the world cities that were already thriving urban centres during the 19th century are not particularly noted for their broad roads except for the major highways as auto traffic wasn't much of a burden then as it is today.

You make a very good point !
But to be honest, i wonder how to get this idea to the minister of the FCT or even the staff of the FCTA!
In the dry season, water sprinklers can be employed to keep a lot of the greenery going!
Parks and landscaped areas can then remain lush throughout the year!
I am equally surprised that there is not even ONE water fountain operating in Abuja, not even the Unity fountain ⛲️ is working!
Such features , if utilised at our numerous roundabouts, can break the monotony of the dry seasons and soften the hard rock facade of Abuja!
Na so I see am !

What monotony of the dry season and what hard rock facade!?

    • @aframaco9491
      @aframaco9491 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@Dele_Ps_Advice Well Abuja has both dry and wet season as you know, not to mention the harmattan winds which make the city even more arid!
Because Abuja is landlocked, it has no beaches.
The only significant body of water in the city is the man made Jabi lake which is an act of genius I might add.
But to promote even more greenery , some of our roundabouts could have water fountains in them!
At the very least, let the Unity Fountain ⛲️ , a landmark in Abuja function and work properly!
And some of the green intended public spaces can have a sprinkler that waters them all through the dry season !!
Because Abuja is already a well planned and mapped out city, such features would maintain it's greenness and keep the city beautiful all year round !
      👊🏾🇳🇬👊🏾🇳🇬!

Further, it's the cleanest State in Nigeria for 5 years running now. Also, you did show National Mosque and National Christian Center in Abuja, we also have unbeatable Akwa Ibom Christian Worship Centre - none of its kind in Africa.

Firstly, This is called "dangers of a one-sided story". Have you been to Abuja? If you haven't then you can't draw up conlcusions.
Secondly, Akwa Ibom isn't a planned city, it grew organically, in other words, Akwa Ibom is a modified city. Abuja on the other hand was non-existent, just like you contract an architect to design or plan an apartment for a piece of land, if you want to build one, that was how Abuja was made.
In the late eighties, Abuja was a Typical Village. The Gbagyi tribe, who are the original settlers, were settled by the Federal Gov. and they left the land allowing the Nigerian government to start construction of the proposed capital.
Everything you see in Abuja today was planned right from the inception. It didn't just happen as the city grows, it was in the masterplan, and the master plan isn't even complete, and that is why a lot of construction is still ongoing.
So yes, Abuja is the ONLY planned city in Nigeria. The other cities are modified.

Nigeria is still not developed a country only they are relying on the reconstruction of the Capital with three towers for more than 5-years are'nt you ashamed? Look at -Luanda - Nairobi-Addis ababa- Johannesburg-Abidjan- Harare- Dar es salaam- Kigali kinshasa- beacuse of the lack of equitable distribution of wealth to rural areas such as road infrastructure and community housing

It's a natural occurrence, even if you bring the UK, Morocco or Canada to Nigeria's location in West Africa, they'd still get those dust due to the annual Harmattan season from December to March arising from the Sahara desert. Apart from North East and North Western Nigeria, we are generally below the Sahel region and also our climate is hot asides Plateau and Taraba states in the North as well which are much colder.
