    Pakistan is lucky to have honest and selfless military people who love the country. They have safely invested Pakistani money in Papa John's pizza franchise, real estate in London, Canada, and Dubai. They also own an island near Australia. These investments have made sure that Pakistani people don't waste their money on luxury items such as wheat flour, vegetables, electricity, clothing, and education.

      Yep, don't forget the ISI played a key role in the collapse of the Soviet Union. They armed the Mujahideen to the teeth and that was the main factor in defeating the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. Of course, financial assistance was provided by the CIA so one can call it a joint project.

      One rape occurs and every body starts a movement. Good that society is concerned. But what about those men who are falsely accused of rape and murder and then not guilty? What about those men against whom false cases of dowry are applied and later on released because they were innocent? What about those men who were arrested or suspended for outraging the modesty of women ( men have no modesty) & later on it was found that accusation was leveled to extract money by blackmailing? Why not video on those unfortunate men?

    Thank you Shekhar for that little gee-up in the end. What you said is so reasonable that I’m ashamed to have ignored it in my fulminations at the Olympic non-performance. However it rankles to have such a poor sports culture in India, and even poorer outcomes.
    I’ve lived in Australia, and the culture there is so vastly different that when I talked about it in India, people thought I’m telling tall tales. For example, the Maths class I taught had one equestrian Olympian, two Olympian swimmers, one national level ironman, and one sailor who had been in America’s cup crew. All this was from a group of 35. I was there during Sydney Olympics. The Uni indoor 50m swimming pool used to be full in the evenings, the tennis courts used to be full from 4 pm onwards till late night. People were seen jogging and cycling in full gear early mornings and at 11pm. It used to be incredible. We just don’t have anything like that in any Indian city. Even Chandigarh is a pale comparison.

  • @wgpcc
    @wgpcc 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Mr Gupta your comments and graphs about India’s performance in Asian Games and Olympic was compared. Your final assessment was correct too. Perhaps you should have included India’s performance in Commonwealth games and World championship to get a fuller picture. Proud that our men and women are well in so many different games rather just hockey as it used to be ( except Milkha Singh in 400metres who came 4th ). Be self critical and try to improve, invest in infrastructure of Sports and support those who make it in between games on a long standing way, rather than the public mouth off and criticise our sportsman. Thanks Mr Gupta and a great analysis of the sorry bankrupt state of Pakistani army Dr Abhi Mantgani, UK

    On the Pakistan General story you need to find a way by which strange Pakistani names of generals is not read out in audio form. A connection is hard to make because we have no context.

    " Yeh jo dahshatgardi hai, is kay peechai vardi hai " is a slogan that started in Karachi. The author of the slogan was the Karachi based Muthaida Qaumi Movement party. The slogan was not directed against Musharraf. He was a Karachiite and did a lot for hitherto neglected Karachi. He is the man who transformed the sagging economy of Akistan into a vibrant one. Reduced IMF loan from $ 42. billion to $32 billion. Increased foreign exchange reserves. Musharraf was removed because he was not playing America's game in Afghanistan to its satisfaction. This was a colour revolution in Pakistan. A similar color revolution was brought about in Bangladesh so very recently. Reason being, Hadina Wajid refused to accede to America's demand that she allow building a U.S base in Bangladesh's St. Martin Island in the Bay of Bengal. This is for information.

    Faiz Hameed was Bajwa’s close associate. They had a falling out. In 2008 Mumbai, Pakistan was flying low because the Indian army was at the border, and U.S. aircraft carriers were at our maritime boundary. The threat of war was real, but we hated the army regime nevertheless, and Musharraf was ousted soon thereafter.

But he didnt pass out from PMA. He passed out from OTS, commonly known as Officers Training School. One thing to keep in mind was that at the time of posting of Gen Faiz Hameed as Corps Commander Peshawar, it was done so on behest of Gen Faiz himself since Gen Faiz & Gen Bajwa both wanted Faiz to complete his mandatory command of a Corps since that is a pre requisite of becoming an Army Chief.
    Bajwa in fact wanted Faiz to succeed him at that point as the next army chief until Bajwa and Faiz also had a falling out and as a result Imran and Faiz unsuccessfully tried to get Bajwa dismissed as chief (this was exactly at the time the vote of no confidence was to be carried out in National Assembly’s parliament session).

    Pakistan, first Asian country, first islamic country to get independence, first nation to start election, framed constitution, form independent government, first to setup Space and Science research and missions and first to start defence research. Pakistan is the only country from 1947 to till now never recognised Israel. And Pakistan only country Israel always gets kicked and defeated. Happy Independence day Pakistan. Nobody in the world is brave or more brave than Pakistanis. Pakistan helped more nations in crisis post WW2 to G10 nations, eg China, Japan, Italy Germany, Turkey, even Brazil, Mexico etc....

    Why is Shekhar doing hagiography of crooks from Pakistan Army, when Bangladesh is burning with attacks on Hindus there and Kolkatta is boiling with after effects of unfortunate rape of a doctor? Why should we waste time on the inside details of a terrorist Army next door? 2. Shekhar cannot see anything good within our Armed Forces!!

    Nice episode. Its interesting how an elected government in Pakistan prefers an army chief superceding others thinking he'll be loyal & then getting paid in the opposite way. Remember Z.Bhutto use to call Zia-Ul-haq his 'bandar' & we all know how that panned out. This along with certain capabilities that Pakistani armed forces have shown recieving appreciation from the Indian side suggests that the Pakistani army is not as politicised as it seems from the outer. It would be intriguing to know where does meritocracy ends & politicisation begins in the Pakistani security establishment.

    Corrections: The Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate (ISI), a position Lt. Gen (R) Faiz Hameed held, does NOT report to the Army Chief but to the Prime Minister.
    Second, General Asim Munir did NOT attend Pakistan's Military Academy (PMA) instead he graduated from the Officer's Training School, Mangla, a far less prestigious institution where he earned the sword.

    There is absolutely no evidence and credibility to the first so called cardinal sin that imran khan did not allowed Americans to use of base in Pakistan. This is just a plain lie I’m modest terms. Americans never asked for any base in first place. How come a credible platform commit such cardinal sun in journalism? 4 demerit points assigned to The Print.

Its like if you are losing then don’t feel bad and improve yourself but change the goal post. Might be an unpopular opinion, no disrespect to all the athletes who train and perform, but I feel the only reward for the country itself is just bragging rights. And basically its a rich countries club, they have pipeline to feed athletes early on from school to professional, but with 2k gdp per capita our priorities are elsewhere as expected.
