I think it depends on your mood. Speaking from my experience, one time I feel really lonely, horrible, almost like I am the only person in the world. Another time, it's just fun without having to worry about other people.

Because my parent is really busy(there's once a time my dad stay at work for 4 nights a week and that goes for a year) and i was a shy kid, that cousin was my only friend. But when he grow up, he got more friends and less hangout with me. So i started to play chess by myself. When i knew my father also a chess lover i was so happy and wanted to play with him but most of the time he was to tired after work so most my childhood is spent time alone

I get the feeling that this wasn't the result of not having friends, but one of not having video games to fill free time. As someone who was friends with most of the kids in the neighborhood but who wasn't allowed to play video games or watch much TV as a kid I can say that there will always be a lot of time you just can't hang out with friends and have to fill the hours, homework and curfews are a thing after all. For me I picked up reading pretty young, and for her I guess it was card/board games.

You'd actually be surprised. I played 1 player chess before on the computer when I was in primary, only once though. I didn't like it because I decided to play as black, as back then I didn't know how to switch it in the options, yet I felt like I was still losing, so I quit mid-game and then decided to see how far you can go be literally mirroring the other player. This time as white, then as black, I accidentally messed it up and me being young I didn't know of the undo button [Ctrl+Z] so then I lost my queen to myself unintentionally and never played 1 player chess again. Always against the computer from then onwards. Edit: I've also done this type of thing in a 2 player racing game where you have player 1 get eliminated and then player 1 would spectate who's next to be eliminated so it felt like when I look at the bottom half of screen I'm racing but on the top half, I'm watching myself survive. It's actually fun I promise. it's not that people like this don't have friends, it's just that, I want to experience the fun of the game without the RNG you get from another person playing with you. You don't hate or dislike people. But sometimes, scripted fun is still fun.
I'm almost 30 and recently I've been thinking about playing card games by myself to pass time. You grow up, graduate from school, graduate from university, and when you realize that you've not kept a single friend it is too late.
