      I like your reviews. After more thean 20 years, I'm replacing my adcom amp with the Outlaw 7000x. The 7000x should be here tomorrow. I have 3 Martin Logans up front and want your suggestions for budget Atmos surrounds that would best match them until I rebuild the home theater room correctly. I'm looking forward to hearing the Atmos surround because right now I'm only running 5.1.

    I’ve been running an outlaw 5 channel for about 6 years now and recently purchased the 7000x for my back surrounds and height speakers, I can definitely hear a difference. As you said the height speakers now have more bass and add more to the effects of movies now and the surrounds produce the slightest sounds and effects now. The 5 channel which produces 220 watts per channel I believe has always been a stunner and my center and mains don’t sound as good without it. Great review, I was looking for a review on the 7000x but outlaw amps don’t seem to be as popular. Thanks for finally reviewing these awesome amplifiers.

      Seems only budget brands are the most popular here on TH-cam, which I get. They always get the most views etc. since they’re more attainable. But these outlaws are definitely better than most multichannel amps I’ve heard.

    • @eja35oz
      @eja35oz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Which speakers is your 5000 powering? Did you have marantz before adding the outlaw? If so did you notice a significant difference in sound quality when you added the 5000?

    • @uscfroadie
      @uscfroadie 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@eja35oz I bought the Outlaw when I had a 5.2.2 system with a Yamaha Aventage 860. Like all the receivers in that $1000 MSRP area, when all channels are driven you are getting ~40 watts per channel. They were driving Definitive Technology BP30s, CLR2000, BP8s, and BP1xs, which are ~92db efficient speakers. Subs are PB2000s. Adding the Outlaw helped a ton on that system. So much more headroom, dynamic impact, and crystal clear dialogue, even during busy scenes.
      I built a home theater and decided to go to a 7.2.4, so I swapped the Yamaha for the Marantz 7012, and the Def Techs were sold and replaced with DIYSG speakers. Already having the Outlaw, I used it for LCR and two of the Atmos speakers as the 7012 has 11 channels of processing but 9 channels of amplification. DIYSG HTM12s are very sensitive (98db), so when driven by the Outlaw you can get well above reference level with ease.
      The Outlaw, even when jamming out on multi-channel audio at insanely loud levels, runs as cool as a cucumber. The thing never breaks a sweat and is always able to handle whatever I ask of it. It's an insane bargain and highly recommended.
      Hope this answered your questions.

The XPA 7 connected Definitive Technology Mythos ST-L's via Integra DRC-1 Preamp is okay, but my listening position is approximately 14 ft away from the speakers and I have to set the volume to at least 40 out of 100 before I start to get some decent sound. Conversely, either the Crowns or the XPR 5 connected to my Oppo BDP 105D, or the Marantz 8805 and the volume very rarely needs to go beyond 20 out of 100. I was comment with something similar. @SpareChange the amp originally started at $2299 in August of 2018 when it was first released. Now it's $3499. I'm curious as to why. Is it because of the changes with China? I know this is made in the US but, from what I understand is that most of the components and steel comes from China. Either way, a $1200 increase is just nuts.

      Depends on which speakers you're talking about. As long as your speakers have a sensitivity of 89db or higher a receiver should have no problem driving them. But using an amp for the 2 or 3 front channels will lessen the load of an avr big time and make things sound better.
