Hugh Mundell (1962 - 1983) fue un artista de reggae de Jamaica. Hugh fue introducido al reggae por su vecino de familia, el artista de reggae y productor Boris Gardiner. Con el apoyo de Gardiner, Hugh grabo su primer sencillo "Where Is Natty Dread?" con el productor Joe Gibbs a la edad de 13 años. Un joven prodigio, grabó "Africa Must Be Free By 1983" a la edad de 16. El album recibio 5 estrellas por la revista Rolling Stone. Interesante de verdad pero tenia mas albums llevo 29 años en españa ahora y soy de familia jamaicanos que vivo en jamaica y londres de donde naci en el año '62 Africa must be free es la tema que puso Hugh en la mente de muchos fuera de jamaica. Era un temazo en inglaterra y America. para la rastas esto es roots rockers con revolucion enviando un mensaje a Babylon en su dia... Hasta no tocaba con Augustus Pablo con various Dubs su musica quedaba sin llegar muy lejos...Mi padre era Soundman y lo que era Reggae Dancehall estaba de moda mas que el roots pero con la fusion de roots rock(ers) reggae en los 70s la musica de Hugh tuvo mucho exito con la de Jacob Killa Miller y muchos mas. Gracias al Internet se exporto la musica de reggae desde ya hace 25 años. Bob,Jimmy Cliff,Ken Boothe, Toots Hibbert, Desmond Deckker y pocos mas eran mas concidos antes pero hay miles de musicos y cantantes en jamaica quien no llegaron a ser concidos hasta el internet llego a conquistar el cybermundo como el gran chingado Colon... Mucho dinero falta jamaica y su pueblo y mucho dinero debe pagar la gente quien bajar la musica grabado en una epoca cuando era la musica era mucho mas que unos megabites... Tengo todo su catalogo en vinilo comprado entre londres y jamaica u me alegro que la musica reggae tiene mucha fama en latin America.
