And then look at his coaches he had Joe Philbin and Adam Gase two of the worst coaches I have ever seen in the NFL. And it's even worse when I can't decide who the worst coach is.
THIS is the 'no excuses' year: Baker literally is surrounded by the BEST overall talent offensively in the league with the most QB-friendly scheme possible. And a coach who went 10-6 last year with this offense with much less talent. Rookie coach, yes, but no mongoloid like Kitchens[don't get me started]. He has a year left on his contract after this one, so he'll have his time to learn and grow...either way, the Browns are stuck with him. But he may end up a high-paid backup who never learned to take care of the ball. You probably don't know this if you're not a Browns fan, but CASE KEENUM showed him up in training camp, and has run Stef's offense before He gets one more year to show if he is franchise or flea-size. You must also consider that all that talent means big contracts coming up: business decisions must be made..
Imagine your team wins, your qb plays well, and people still hate. Baker was fine last night, the running game was good too. Two things can be true at the same time. Over 200 yds passing, and Baker still gets hate. I think sports media and this comment section know nothing about sports. The good running game set up Baker's passing. This game was a great step up for Baker. Joe Burrow was fine too, he has a pretty good future.
@patsap84 Patriots would've been a great fit for Lamar as well and they interviewed him before the draft. And now you can look at Cam with the Pats... Lamar would've worked on other teams as well
Quarail Hale any coach with common sense would know not to run no Peyton Manning, Tom Brady offensive sets for Lamar. They knew what they was getting just by looking at his game film at Louisville. Just like the redskins did w/ RG3 his rookie year. U supposed to build around your QB . LJ is special, just need to prove he can play/be just as special from behind . & harbaugh was on the verge of getting fired if I’m not mistaken, lol he had no choice but to play around LJ
Shannon Sharpe spittin facts! Thank GOD someone in sports media is actually saying Baker Mayfield’s performance last night was ok at best. It pisses me off that nobody is giving Chubbs the credit he deserves for that win.
The sad part is that Baker is actually a very good QB but lately idk whats been with him. Hes been making bad reads, throwing bad passes and not utilizing the weapons he do have on his team. Smh. Very disappointing because i rooted for him, esp when OBJ came there.
IF Mayfield was drafted into a system like Mahomes at the Chiefs, he would have picked up exactly where he left off. Dude has had 4 different head coaches. Give it time.
And he just needs a team under his feet. He had a bond with his teammates at Oklahoma and I think if we can get a team atmosphere it'll pan out because he feeds off that energy. They seemed to be playing like a team against the Bengals and I think even though the Bengals aren't great it's a good sign. As you say we need time and not just 3 years. The browns need a foundation to build from. It's something that they haven't had a chance to do since they came back to Cleveland. The Haslems keep switching everything around.
The only thing Baker Mayfield did last night was play like an average starting QB... They play Washington in week 3 so he'll probably have another average QB performance. He'll be back to playing like the Baker Mayfield we all despise by week 4 when he has to go up against the Cowboys.
THATS THE THING!!! Baker doesn’t feed the RB or WR because he doesn’t want them to give the shine he wants to be the hero but he’s not .... it’s clear as day when he threw that INT! Baker the game is bigger than just YOU!! -Fellow Clevelander

Honestly, joe burrow is looking like a special quarterback. I know it’s only week 2 but he is making this team look better than they are and is giving this team a chance to win every week so far. They (bengals) need to get this man some weapons or at the very least a better defense
Nah. Steelers/Ravens both making it from the North Bills/Patriots both making it from the East Chiefs and whoever comes second in the West will make it And probably Houston makes it Cleveland are a fringe playoff contender but they got blown tf apart by Baltimore just last week.
I think a lot of these guys kinda regurgitate their favorite morning talk show guys opinions, so im not sure what the case is here, but watching the highlights; Baker looked like the better quarterback, CLEARLY, for three quarters. And looked fine in the fourth. Threw one interception that was a forced throw, that was really it. But he threw a couple absolute dimes, showed some good movement and accuracy. Burrow looked fine, a lot of his line came in garbage time where he rang up at least two passing touchdowns and a healthy amount of passing yards. He did look good though, that offensive line not being able to pass or run block is just a nightmare. I feel for Joe too. Both of these teams have promise at the position in some way.
I can't wait to see Baker in the winter time again it's so funny watching a five foot ten quarterback trying to play in these horrible conditions in the AFC North
Two pro bowl caliber running backs, two pro bowl caliber wide receivers and a pro bowl caliber tight end. Browns will be deadly if they stop committing penalties.
Lifelong Sooners fan here... LOVE Baker... I agree with Shannon at this point... As a lifelong Bills fan (don't ask) I think Josh Allen will be twice the QB at this level as Mayfield.
7:54 Skip, when your one-two punch at RB combine for more yds and more TDs than your QB had (and one of your RBs caught a TD pass as well), and when most of your passing rhythm came from play action, that is the very definition of a ground and pound, run-first, *run to set up the pass* offense, the first two plays of the game being passes don't change that
I think Cleveland should cut bait with Baker Mayfield. I think last night is as good as he's going to get. If they keep him they need to build around the running game.
The biggest mistake the browns have made in recent history is letting Gregg Williams go. He had the defense looking good and with Baker took them to a 5-3 record.
i dont get the media sometimes. One day, this is a big game for Baker and this is HUge he needs to show up, and when he does its oh its the Bengals. So its a lose lose

Then being surprised when a fails cause the media sets him under massive pressure for the last two seasons... Honestly, they already called him “the next Johnny Mainziel” just before he started a single game for Cleveland.

Nope, people killed Dwayne Haskins after 1 year, don’t change your tune. Have the same energy for Baker, and I actually want to see the browns do good
Broadway Black no one killed Haskins after 1 year. Everyone says he’s a decent young QB with potential who turned it up at the end of his first year.
You probably don't know this if you're not a Browns fan, but CASE KEENUM showed him up in training camp, and has run Stef's offense before
He gets one more year to show if he is franchise or flea-size.
Do they forget that Lamar Jackson was chosen in the same draft at number 32?
patsap84 yes he would, u can’t teach what he got
Team matters. I am not gonna day Allen, Baker, or Darnold are Lamar, but any of them would be better off on the Ravens then in their own team
Tyron Mitchell harbaugh built that offense around lamars talents. On another team he would plateau early and not achieve as much
@patsap84 Patriots would've been a great fit for Lamar as well and they interviewed him before the draft.
Jenny: Shannon did Baker prove that he isn't a bust last night?
Shannon: no he didn't
???
???
???
Looool by not proving hes not a bust doesnt mean he is anything special?
???
The sad part is that Baker is actually a very good QB but lately idk whats been with him. Hes been making bad reads, throwing bad passes and not utilizing the weapons he do have on his team. Smh. Very disappointing because i rooted for him, esp when OBJ came there.
I love Shannon so much. Man can actually admit to be wrong and not throw a fit
IF Mayfield was drafted into a system like Mahomes at the Chiefs, he would have picked up exactly where he left off. Dude has had 4 different head coaches. Give it time.
Thank you for being the only reasonable person in this comment section.
Baker will be a journeyman QB in four years...not too bad not too good
The only thing Baker Mayfield did last night was play like an average starting QB... They play Washington in week 3 so he'll probably have another average QB performance. He'll be back to playing like the Baker Mayfield we all despise by week 4 when he has to go up against the Cowboys.
Cowboys game could swing both ways, cuz the cowboys d-line is good but they don’t have good DB’s
I don’t know man, we’ll see how he deals with the Washington pass rush. They absolutely devastated Wentz.
GO GET THEM BROWNS YOU HAVE GOT BAKER MAYDICK!!!!
As a ravens fan im excited about playing Joe twice a season. He's good and can keep our division competitive.
Bro,your ravens defense will DESTROY joe burrow with that O line
THATS THE THING!!!
Baker doesn’t feed the RB or WR because he doesn’t want them to give the shine he wants to be the hero but he’s not .... it’s clear as day when he threw that INT! Baker the game is bigger than just YOU!!
-Fellow Clevelander
I'm here cuz I just want to hear about Burrow. I could careless about Baker.
that should be care less. while careless is a word, it's has a different meaning.
@@Fektthis I could care less how you spell careless in a TH-cam comments section
Fektthis This isn’t school, be quiet
@@Paul-hw7kc What you mean to say is you "couldn't care less". The way you said it means you do care.
Goodness guys, really? lol Will this make you happy?
"Merriam-Webster treats the phrases couldn't care less and could care less as synonymous, both meaning "not concerned or interested at all." "Couldn't care less" is the older and more obvious phrase grammatically, but it has been confused for so long that both are now defined."
Let’s pump our breaks on the Burrow is great talk!!!! It’s been two games. If I’m not mistaken, Mayfield got the same praise in his first year.
He’s not a bust . Still young . Broke the rookie TD record .
17:01 "he got enough balls in Odell's hands" PAUSE
I heard Odell likes something else in his hands💩💩💩
Baker woke up feeling dangerous. Respect.
The newest video on my TH-cam channel shows every single time that Skip Bayless called Kawhi Leonard the world's best player... Despite claiming two days ago that he never ever said such words
Baker Mayfield is gonna be that guy who pumps his chest out and claim greatness whenever they win and they usually win against the bottom tier teams
Joe Burrow looks legit tho
Difference bout Shannon he admits when he's wrong. Swear to God ive never seen Skip admit it ever.
Skip aint even staying on topic. Dedicated his whole time tryna prove shannon wrong shut up bruh
I don’t mind Baker being in commercials. Once you play for the Browns, it doesn’t go up from there, so you better get your $$ right ASAP 😂😂
Skip mmmm... good meal Bayless every time Unc Shay speaks. Campbell soup put Skip in your commercial he's ready.
This man really arguing against a hall of fame player. UNBELIEVABLE
Gotta protect Joe Burrow!
They ran for 6000 yards that game Baker had a ton of help yesterday. He will never be the guy who can carry a team.
With the roster they have they’re not asking him to carry
Peter Smith guys like that aren’t destined to be around long. A lot of guys can do that.
Skip historically has awful takes on young QBs.
Skip is historically is awful with any take he has sports related.
He’s been right about Kyler
Clown comments He was one of the earliest ones saying Kyler murray is going to be a great QB h even got shannon to finally hop on the bandwagon
Honestly, joe burrow is looking like a special quarterback. I know it’s only week 2 but he is making this team look better than they are and is giving this team a chance to win every week so far. They (bengals) need to get this man some weapons or at the very least a better defense
With 7 teams per conference making it I could see them make the playoffs.
They wasnt even close to the 7th spot the last 2 years with baker..lmao. Not happening..they wont win unless lebron signs. Lmao
Were not
Nah.
Steelers/Ravens both making it from the North
Bills/Patriots both making it from the East
Chiefs and whoever comes second in the West will make it
And probably Houston makes it
Cleveland are a fringe playoff contender but they got blown tf apart by Baltimore just last week.
No dude.
Bakers coach not giving him the starting job in his rookie season is the reason he had a good rookie year
I can't wait to see Baker in the winter time again it's so funny watching a five foot ten quarterback trying to play in these horrible conditions in the AFC North
People need to chill with baker, He was throwing well and had a great first half. And he had a special first year even if he’s fell off since then
“The first 3 of 4 plays were throws. Woooooow” 😂😂 cmooooon skiiiiup
🤣🤣🤣that's impressive for some reason
Skip's looking more like a retired member of the Stones that a TV commentator:)
Two pro bowl caliber running backs, two pro bowl caliber wide receivers and a pro bowl caliber tight end. Browns will be deadly if they stop committing penalties.
That ain’t gone happen
They would be deadly if Baker wasn’t QB
They need a quality QB to distrubute the ball cus Baker trash
Lifelong Sooners fan here... LOVE Baker... I agree with Shannon at this point...
As a lifelong Bills fan (don't ask) I think Josh Allen will be twice the QB at this level as Mayfield.
Love this show
Dawg every time Shannon hits that “YES” I’m crying
Mayfield is a bust. He played against the Bengals. Come on now.
He played against the Titans too. The first half Baker look really bad in Tennessee. Sucked huh?
this didn't age well lol
@@kingra2k65 Dude. They're not beating the Cheifs.
That grey and purple suit 😍😍😍
I like to see games through Skip Googles. because I really do not anything he said about Baker.
7:54 Skip, when your one-two punch at RB combine for more yds and more TDs than your QB had (and one of your RBs caught a TD pass as well), and when most of your passing rhythm came from play action, that is the very definition of a ground and pound, run-first, *run to set up the pass* offense, the first two plays of the game being passes don't change that
Ppl fail to realize that Baker is maybe the best QB the Browns might of had in the last 12 years.
The bar isn't necessarily too high to accomplish that lol. Just saying.
Johnny football talent didn’t fail him btw
That's not saying much. The Browns have been stuck with back up QBs for over a decade.
Colt McCoy was better 😂
Baker might do the impossible and lead the Browns to the playoffs
a few days ago people were complaining about Shannon not giving Kyler Murray credit... he just did😂
I think Cleveland should cut bait with Baker Mayfield.
Grown men constantly bullying a 25 year old...
Even when a wins a game, they suppose he’s actually a total fail...
Then being surprised when a fails cause the media sets him under massive pressure for the last two seasons...
Honestly, they already called him “the next Johnny Mainziel” just before he started a single game for Cleveland.
Might be one of Shannons best arguments about qbr
if you dont see anything wrong with baker you dont know what to look for. dude has has 1 decent game in 2 years. i dont know what the exact definition of a bust is but baker is knocking on that door
burrow was throwing some serious dimes last night. dude is legit
TH-cam is really bad right now. I had to watch two 15 mins ads in the middle of the video with no skip.
The Bengals almost beat the Browns, LMAO. The Browns are the Browns and will always be the Browns. 💩
You didnt watch the game if you believe the Bengals even had a chance all their points came in garbage time
They didn’t “almost beat” them. The Browns were in control the whole time and the Bengals score a last minute TD to make it look a lot closer than it was.
@@brycebrooks8484 garbage time? they were never down by more than 11 points i think 😂
@@hanfreeman they were up 28-13 going i to the 4th but go off only time Bengals were within a touchdown was when the beginning and very end of the game but sure Browns barely one. In the same way that the Packers "barely" beat the Vikes
@@brycebrooks8484 it was a close game in reality especially with the defenses these teams have
Am i the only one who watched the "they gave me number 1" part twice because I just loved hearing Shannon talk about it so much?
Shannon is a tight end.he know a qb when he c one
Skip will never admit he was wrong. Baker isn't living up to the number 1 pick and everyone can see it, except Skip.
LMAO Any QB can have a good day when they're handing the ball off 30+ times. Burrow looked better, even in a loss.
Absolutely...And Burrows was under pressure from the Browns' pass rush for most of those 61 throws whereas Baker barely got touched had all the time in the world while Chubb and Hunt dominated the run game. First time I've watched Burrows properly and was really impressed, just a shame he's playing with a terrible O-line (a la Andrew Luck)
Sam King Baker won the first half. You can’t say he didn’t
