What is the part number for this model?

I notice LG dishwashers listed on Craigslist in the Free Stuff section with the statement that it has a noisy motor, and now I know why. These LG dishwasher seem to be complex to repair, and then problematic. My nephew bought his wife a new LG dishwasher, and it seemed like in no time he was buying another dishwasher, some other brand.

Best tutorial on this subject. Great job.
So the whirring noise is the corroded sump motor bearings and the corrosion is probably propagated by the sump motor's shaft seal failure?
I understand that things most likely are intentionally designed not to last nowadays; it's very obvious when looking at the design of this dishwasher. With the motor being positioned pointing straight up, the only line of defense from water that is being gravity-fed straight down the shaft into the motor is the shaft to sump seal. Unless of course the motor has a shaft to motor housing seal built in. But both of these seals are equally exposed to friction. This design invites compound failure.
I'm planning my fix now before ordering parts and opening everything up. Is there at least a centimeter of open length on the shaft between the motor housing and the sump seal where I could position a rubber fender style washer to snug fit on the shaft? My idea is that the rubber washer would spin with the shaft (no friction) and act as a skirt or umbrella above the vulnerable seam between the motor housing and shaft. In the event of any future leaks, the rubber washer would sling the water dripping down the shaft away from the vulnerable point of entry.

Did this end up working for you? I'm thinking that spinning rubber washer might introduce a hum of its own.

@@jeffreyhess5013 - I found there's really no space to put anything between the motor and sump. Thankfully I'm highly skilled at voicing my educated opinions to the company. It took two months of communication, climbing the hierarchy of contacts within the company, and pointing out the engineering flaws (along with shaming and a few empty threats of media coverage/class action lawsuits). Even though it was far out of warranty, in an effort to get rid of me, they ultimately replaced it with a different "better" model that will probably have it's own unique set of flaws appear just after the warranty expires.
When faced with sloppy customer service, I have the best luck when I morph into a thorn and thrust myself into their side never letting go.

@@oodoodoopoopoo I went up and down the same road with three new GE Profile appliances: A dishwasher that stuck on dry that turned into an autoclave; a Profile range with an out of control, blazing gas burner; a Profile 220v microwave/invection oven with a blown magnetron. All three were replaced by GE.
