Yi Xian: The Cultivation Card Game is an online DBG with a background of cultivation. Every game is a deck building from scratch. Players can have stronger decks by changing cards, and then build more powerful routines to defeat all opponents to win.

There's a very rare Divine Pet that replaces the next card your opponent plays with a Normal Attack for the rest of the fight. Every time I hit it, it caused the opponent's deck to become a trainwreck. Never did I think an autobattler would let me Thoughtseize someone

GG you earned it but let me ask you is the game really that fun? Iv seen other tubers play it too but of course they are TH-camrs so I want your honest opinion is it actually fun?
@@AceOfBladei haven't played against Reto, but having played the game myself it's definitely fun once you can get a build going, and with the deck building aspect you tend to fail upwards. yea you might lose a battle but then you'll draw the cards you'll need to do better
@@AceOfBlade my honest opinion: This game is fun to watch, but not very fun for me to play. It's simply because strategising against people isn't my strong suit, so I'm kinda discouraged. I'm always bad at Chess, too
Reto is always honest with his opinions about games, tho. At least, as far as I know. If he said it is fun or fresh, then it is usually fun or fresh for most people.

Edit: and one little tip, when you have "breakthrough", you should do that first and then reroll for cards, cuz that way, you get next phase cards . VIce versa, if you don't want to search for the next phase card, you can delay the breakthrough and try to get your current phase card to the maximum level.

Yup, definitely know about the breakthrough, often I find upgrading a couple key cards before it becomes more difficult is more useful
Sometimes you are searching for a current phase card, when to do a breakthrough is another tactical decission
Wasn’t initially sold on the art style but it has grown on me BIG time. The mechanics are solid too, looking forward to this series

i grew up on wuxia shows that my aunts and uncles used to put on tv. i'm loving the theme of this game. it brings back so many memories.
Retooooooo and the saga of the obscene combo saves continues , much to the delight of this viewer.
Those Qi drain mind games were great. I had a really fun run where I did something similar sabotaging builds with some lesser qi-drain and such. Gotta be careful for builds that don't care about Qi, but definitely the sort of build that highlights the power of good counter-positioning.

Bought the game yesterday after watching your videos, and I'm hooked! It could do a better job at communicating how to unlock things like side jobs what what that even means (and also the translation needs some work), but other than that I love it! Hope you cover all the characters on this series, it's a great learning tool!
If you're looking for a bit more challenge, there is a ranked mode. The mind games get really insane!

Really enjoying this series! It has good pacing - fun to watch you have to adjust and build on the fly. The meta gaming with your opponent must be really satisfying when it lands!
Bought this yesterday after watching your video, and I've been having a lot of fun with it! It's cool to see you showing off different characters, too. I've only really played the Cloud Spirit Sword Sect so far, so this was a helpful introduction to the Heptastar Pavilion cards. Hope this series continues!

I loved that malevolent build strategy. Watching everyone's build get crippled was fascinating

Loving the strategy and the fact that real people have flaws and strengths and change up in reaction. Being an autobattler can illicit people claiming easy etc, but this def looks hard given the time crunch and reaction combined with live deck building and rng.

Yea, lot of the wording in this game could use some work. Fortunately most of the mechanics aren't too crazy once you figure out how they're supposed to work. First time seeing stuff is definitely tough to figure out.

Definitely will love to see more of this, the game has really solid mechanics although the art/animation isn't something I thoroughly enjoyed at first but the variety of combos and different builds showcased so far is really interesting....

I've been following you for roguelike games for a long time but it was a happy coincidence to see you upload this as I was looking for more content or strategies for this game specifically. I was surprised to find very few people have uploaded videos on it.
The game has been slow to pick up on the west but I'm expecting it to only grow from here.
A lot of players from Storybook Brawl and Duelyst are already trying it out and streaming here and there.
It definetively has potential.

Was there a reason not to move one of the hexagram rhythms after the first five thunder? Wouldn't it have used up all the hexagrams so you could get them back with rhythm and use them again for the second five thunder?
I think Reto was getting too caught up on the Star Point locations and thinking cards had to use them when they didn't have that requirement. Or at least that's what it looked like. Or it's just there's so much going on first time using a faction that it's hard to properly consider everything. It's a lot easier watching as a third party.

Idea about Retro's build this game; Would putting one of the Five Thunders earlier have been better? Thunder Hexagram Rhythm would return almost all of the hexagram used, allowing the 2nd use of Five Thunders to not have to rely on RNG. Also, please play more of this game :)

This guy's full hexagram+thunder build is really fun, won 2/3 matches I played it with yesterday. Just need a few key cards for it to work and you can blow them up in a few turns

I feel like you would have wanted to have the hexagram return card in between the two five thunders to return the ones you used in the five thunders
yes and no, the first one was helping generate enough for the first five thunders to kill. It is more important to kill earlier than kill better later. I think that considering this was a 1st place, it was alright. I would have adjusted if I needed.

When he did not upgrade the card (Astral Move-Block) at 2:40 and instead rerolled it. And then rerolled it again in the next turn. Can you not upgrade that card?
Also, I want to play the game, but I am not a fan of PVP games.

there is a single player mode yeah, the PvP is the main focus though for sure
I actually enjoy the solo better than the PvP in my case, which a lot of puzzle scenario when you have to win in one turn but also a roguelike mode (which is really hard, not the enemies but the last boss is VERY hard)
Anyone know how to unlock additional side jobs? I can't seem to figure it out

@@Retromation oh yeah I didn't think about that I was just thinking it would be theoretically more dmg and heal up cause one of your refunds was higher level at the time.
@@jasonpresley5578 it theoretically could have been if I had _used_ more hexagram prior to their usage, but since I didn't there was no benefit
