@@YossiGozlanNBA Smart is 100% fit to the Mavs IMO. Can defend, playmake, score, hustle, veteran presence, good 3pt shooter, etc. He's very fit next to Luka and Ky
Jerami has been more on the ball in recent years and has been a legit iso scoring option. But Mavs don’t need that from him. He can be extremely dangerous off the ball playing next to Luka and get great spot up opportunities next to him. And defensively he hits the criteria.
If Mavs don’t make any moves and just resign Jones he needs serious work offensively. PJ too work on his handles in finals bringing ball up the court was real sketchy. Let Tim go or find a way to get some one like Og off the knicks team.
DJJ is not making that much money bro lmao if he thinks he is worth that then go for it but then he is gonna go to another team and he’s gonna stink it up without having a creator like Luka and kyrie feeding him buckets.
Exactly. he was their primary defender but he was average at best. And his offense is very limited. Yes he can jump off the building but his corner 3 and offense is below average. both him and pj can’t create for shit. It’s like when they get the ball, 9/10 times they’ll turn it over.
I disagree man. $10-12m is not a crazy salary for any rotation wing. Luka needs to be surrounded by athletic wings that can play D. In an ideal world maybe we would find a more complete wing to start and he would come up the bench, but he is still worth every penny in my estimation.
There best bet is to get Paul george, Luka and Kyrie need a third big time scorer.. Also luka and kyrie play to many minutes especially luka.. If You want these guys to play defense , that cost energy, energy that these guys don't have espcially luka.
Getting PG is tough. Would require him opting in and getting traded, which the Clippers probably don't want to do yet. And even if available, it'll be tough for them to fit him with Luka and Kyrie with his big contract.
I think DJJ stays and takes a slight paycut, still taking most of the MLE (Realistically speaking). From his comments, i think he knows he fits here and wants to be here because Luka makes his job easier with C&S and catching lobs. From what I've watched, all the Mavericks game. Maxi, Thj, Josh has to go in my opinion. Those 3 to me aren't playing to their contract value, and combined, it's 39.8 million... that's 40 MILLION OF WASTED MONEY! Me personally, I'd call Washington again to see if Deni avdija is available. He's a 2 way wing, on a great contract that's declining. Next, call the Bulls if they want Maxi for Jevon carter, a solid 2 way backup pg. And then salary dump Thj. I think in this scenario opens up about 14 million, clearly enough for DJJ
nico absolutely will draft bronny. its not like bronny will get any serious minutes but lebron would definitely join dallas. don't forget lukas favorite player growing up was lebron and kyrie went to 3 straight finals w lebron and won a chip. the draft is trash so its not like dallas would be bypassing gen talent to make this happen. will a team draft bronny before dallas is the question. but if bronny is still available there is no way nico doesn't make this move. the x factor would be does kai and luka take a pay cut. yes. kai already proved that.
Green Hardy Maxi Dp Hardaway even Jones if we get Grant. not yet high with Jones specially how he played in the finals and only season he played that well..Luka Ky Pj Gafford Lively develop Prosper Exum maybe.. we need to build from last year we can still be better
You lost me at bringing DFS back. No thanks. He had two strong years in Dallas, shooting close to 40% from three but has steadily declined since and will turn 32 by playoff time next year. DJJ is four years younger and on the rise. If not available, we should go after a better upgrade.
Kleber Powell green hardaway all need to go asap throw in hardy because he is the only one with trade value if we’re trying to get a decent player back
They don't need to throw ALL of those guys into a trade. Mainly two of THJ, Green, and Kleber is enough for a $30M player. I think their 2031 first-round pick will also be valued by a lot of teams.
@YossiGozlanNBA not everyone in 1 trade duh genius but they all need to go but nobody wants any of them except for Hardy and maybe green. Kleber and hardaway will just be salary dumps we're stuck with powell
I doubt the Mavs can fit both Grant and Brogdon under the new trade and apron rules. It seems like DJJ is the priority, Nico said bringing him back in plan 1A and 1B.
@YossiGozlanNBA the Mavs are less than $2M over the luxury tax right now. Couldn’t they just do something like trade THJ+ draft pick(s) for Jordan Clarkson (who makes $2.1M less) which would put them under the luxury tax and allow them to sign DJJ for the full MLE?
Unfortunately that’s not how the MLE works. A team gets designated with a particular MLE depending on where they finish in relation to the apron after using it. So if they use a portion of the MLE now, they’d be over the first apron, and technically have the smaller $5.2M one. They’d need to get way below the first apron to use the full MLE since using it would hard cap them from exceeding it.
@@ARWINMACHADO They held Boston to 107 or less in every game. Defense wasn’t the problem, they have enough defenders. The problem was they couldn’t score enough bc the entire offense relies on Luka and Kyrie. They need I more guy that can get a bucket on his own WAY more than another defender.
@@YossiGozlanNBA I’m not a salary cap expert so I could be wrong but it doesn’t seem like they are as far off as you make it seem. They are about $5M under the 1st apron now, trading THJ and Lawson’s non-guaranteed for Clarkson would save them another $4M, so that $9M number the 1st apron and they would be under the luxury tax. What is the full MLE like $12M(ish)? They could put Hardy and in trade, maybe cut Exums non-guaranteed, something small and they would be right there at the 1st apron still.
It would be extremely disciplined of the Mavs to trade Irving now. He’s a 13 year vet and could be on the decline soon. I wouldn’t be opposed to capitalizing on him now and getting stuff for him, but I doubt they move him after making the Finals.
@@YossiGozlanNBA I just feel he didn't show up enough in the postseason....and I can't see that improving with time....Also,...he is fragile. If they can replace him with 2-3 top players,...I'd go for it. Maybe the Lakers would be interested.

tbh. I’ll let Derrick Jones walk. I rather have a wing who can also create his shot. Siakam can also guards but with more polish offense than him. that’s what the mavs strongly needs. Another full year and get that home Court come playoff time. Dump max and Tim hardawat jr. Gafford. Pj. Siakam. Kyrie. Luka.
I'd love that to happen but I think that's wishful thinking. If I'm the Pacers I don't think I would even take Kyrie for Siakam at this point. Pacers were cooking once Siakam got on the team.
Siakam would be nice for the Mavs but it sounds like he’s returning to Indiana and an agreement is imminent. Mavs don’t have the cap space anyways to sign him.
The only picks here that make sense are for Bogdan Bogdanovic and Dorian Finney Smith but in no way should the Mavs give up people like Hardy. He keeps mentioning a need for a secondary ball handler in the 2nd unit. We already have that in Hardy and Exum. The Mavs had a great season but, to take the next step, they should add someone like: Péjå Stojákövic 6'10" Marcus Camby 6'11" Dennis Rodman 6'8" Steve Kerr 6'3" and Ben Wallace 6'9" And perhaps Maxi Kleber is their Péjå and Oliver Omax Prosper can be our Dennis Rodman but they need to replace the dead weight on the team that contributed so very little: THJ Morris Kleber A J. Lawson And, the young developmental guards. I totally trust the management of the Mavs to get the necessary pieces [2 more 3 points shooters, 2 more bigs and 3 great defensemen]. They can play 10 deep on everyone except the Celtics. Against them, only 9 can hold up: Luka Kyrie P.J. Brown The 2 centers Dante Green Hardy But, to contend with the elite A-N-D defeat Boston in a 7-game series...they must improve on the backend. Release and replace the other 6 players with big, physical tall, defensive minded players + a 6'11" Péjå Stojákövic type player that rebounds and can hit the trey + an unselfish pair like Rodman and Wallace that will do the dirty work...and another 3 point guy that will hit 50% from deep. With that they'll win 60+ games and beat Boston. Luka absolutely must learn to play without the ball in his hands. The "Triangle" offense could be an option. More emphasis must be placed on perimeter defense. Derek Lively needs to shoot the trey more; Dante Exum should be the leader of the 2nd unit, the QB and facilitator. Hardy needs to be our "microwave" [Vinnie Johnson] off the bench. They need 2 big, beefy "enforcers" willing to kick ass if needed to protect Kyrie and Luka when frustrated teams get physical with them. Generally speaking, for elite excellence, they need: 1.) toughness with an edge à la Rodman & Wallace. 2.) 50% excellence from the 3 à la Pèja and Kerr. 3.) Play up tempo, share the ball and rebound ferociously. 4.) Develop a 2nd unit led by Exum with Hardy scoring but with at least 2 great defenders. 5.) Find 2 guys for enforcers that put the fear of God in opposing players who even think about tripping Luka or "accidentally" hitting Kyrie in the face. 6.) Have a come to Jesus meeting with Luka: Get in shape/stay in shape No pouting/fighting refs Work on 3 pt & midrange Lead... To be clear...he wants to be Pistol Pete Maravich [score 40 ppg with 2 assists while teammates watch] but N-E-E-D-s to be Magic Johnson [working the refs, a coach on the floor, calling plays, making sure everybody else gets points and touches the ball...while purposely holding back unless we get down by 15 or down to 5 seconds on the time clock or it's the last 5 minutes of the game.] 7.) Study Magic, Isaiah and Stockton. Strive 2B the '96 Bulls, the '86 Celtics, the '76 Trailblazers or the '72 Knicks with a perfect blend of offense & defense...but the 2004 Pistons were the epitome of what we should try to become with 5 unselfish players led by 2 scorers, a bunch of role players and a savvy coach. Get it? Got it?? Good...

It's not in DJJ best interest to try and do a "Bobby Porter" deal. Too many players trying to get his minutes, JGreen, JHardy, O-Max. He could lose a lot of value if he doesn't reproduce what he did this year.
I agree, that’s why I think he takes the biggest MLE level deal possible this summer.
Anunoby best option. Sign and trade by THJ JG and Maxi. Tibs loves them. Or T.Murphy. Omax next year get minutes
OG would be an absolute pipe dream for the Mavs. Trey Murphy too. Unfortunately I doubt either are gettable.
@@YossiGozlanNBA believe in Nico 😆
@@HugoV9👍
I want PG!
THJ expiring contract is appealing to some teams since they want to dump some money too
Exactly! The Mavs should be able to do something with it.
Marcus Smart or Deni 🔥
I love Deni for them, not sure I like Smart there as much.
@@YossiGozlanNBA Smart is 100% fit to the Mavs IMO. Can defend, playmake, score, hustle, veteran presence, good 3pt shooter, etc. He's very fit next to Luka and Ky
Great content bro
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it.
Bring back Dinwiddie. 3 ball handlers are needed. Hardy can go. He is just another one dimensional Hardaway Jr.
I think there’s a good chance they could get him for cheap.
Jerami Grant doesn’t move me one bit. Albatross contract and not a ball handler.
That contract definitely will hurt on the backend. I’d definitely go for one of the cheaper options I mentioned instead.
Can we pick up anybody from Detroilet's fire sale?
I don't think they have anyone really available. Maybe Isaiah Stewart can be had but the Mavs don't need him.
Jeremy Grant will improve Mavs a lot. Great defender and a bucket getter. But Luka wont share the ball enough between himself, Kai and Grant.
Jerami has been more on the ball in recent years and has been a legit iso scoring option. But Mavs don’t need that from him. He can be extremely dangerous off the ball playing next to Luka and get great spot up opportunities next to him. And defensively he hits the criteria.
Grant is a horrible defender.
Dude averages 10 asist whole is career and this season. What ESPN bs are you on to?
If Mavs don’t make any moves and just resign Jones he needs serious work offensively. PJ too work on his handles in finals bringing ball up the court was real sketchy. Let Tim go or find a way to get some one like Og off the knicks team.
OG is the popular choice in the comments but unfortunately the Mavs can't get him.
DJJ is not making that much money bro lmao if he thinks he is worth that then go for it but then he is gonna go to another team and he’s gonna stink it up without having a creator like Luka and kyrie feeding him buckets.
I agree with that sentiment. For all we know, he will never play this well again. But he needs to get his bag now for all those reasons.
Exactly. he was their primary defender but he was average at best.
DALLAS FUMBLED THE DYNASTY WITH PORZINGUS
It's truly impressive that they made it to the Finals after fumbling him AND Jalen Brunson.
Porzingis was very average and always hurt here in Dallas.
True. The celtics are stacked and can win even without him
Porting is didn't get along with Luka. Chemistry is super important.
Brunson.... yea they fumbled that one for sure
Wish we still had JB😢
We need Klay or DeRozan
Unfortunately I don't think either player is available to the Mavs. I think the most likely scenario is bringing back DJJ.
Green and AJ and 1st round pick? What you smoking bro
New ownership is all in not like Jerry Jones all in they ready to drop the bag any level luxury tax is cool they want a ring
Yes I’m sure they’re open to being taxpayers. If the right trade comes along that requires them to pay the tax, I think they’ll happily do it.
I wanted Trey Murphy 3 at the trade deadline but B.I. Could be an option maybe.
@@YossiGozlanNBAI think it’s very possible
Someone else in the comments brought up the possibility of re-signing DJJ with the MLE and then trading for Deni. I would love that scenario for them.
nico absolutely will draft bronny. its not like bronny will get any serious minutes but lebron would definitely join dallas. don't forget lukas favorite player growing up was lebron and kyrie went to 3 straight finals w lebron and won a chip. the draft is trash so its not like dallas would be bypassing gen talent to make this happen. will a team draft bronny before dallas is the question. but if bronny is still available there is no way nico doesn't make this move. the x factor would be does kai and luka take a pay cut. yes. kai already proved that.
It seems like the Lakers will most likely select Bronny when they have the chance right before the Mavs at #55.
Is Klay Thompson even an option?
If they really want him they could get him in a a sign and trade, but I don’t think he’s what they need right now.
Green Hardy Maxi Dp Hardaway even Jones if we get Grant. not yet high with Jones specially how he played in the finals and only season he played that well..Luka Ky Pj Gafford Lively develop Prosper Exum maybe.. we need to build from last year we can still be better
I don’t think they need to give up all that for Grant. Maybe they can trade some of those guys for other pieces as well.
@@YossiGozlanNBA not everyone just thinking about the players we can let go and sign free agents to complement Lukai.
Get Lauri from Utah or Ingram from the pels & grab Gary Trent jr
I just don't think the Mavs have enough assets to get Lauri.
We need to trade hardaway and try to get Klay Thompson
Derrick jones hurt his stock with that awful finals performance
He did well enough up until that point to garner a full-MLE level offer. He might not be worth it, but he'll get it.
You lost me at bringing DFS back.
No thanks. He had two strong years in Dallas, shooting close to 40% from three but has steadily declined since and will turn 32 by playoff time next year.
DJJ is four years younger and on the rise. If not available, we should go after a better upgrade.
That’s fair. I just like DFS at his salary and relatively low price it’ll take to get him.
Mavs need grant and Malcolm brogdon, Cut Jones he is trash, he only dunks
I doubt the Mavs can fit both Grant and Brogdon under the new trade and apron rules. It seems like DJJ is the priority, Nico said bringing him back in plan 1A and 1B.
Trade dPowell for a seat cushion!
Batum
Batum is very gettable. He might be gettable for the minimum.
@@YossiGozlanNBA Batum retired.
@@25chrishall Rumor is, he might be back for one more season.
Or Norman Powell he would bring great on the Mavericks just too expensive
Coming off of Kleber's contract is idiotic.
Who says no.
Brooklyn recieve Tim Hardaway Jr, 2 x 2nd round picks
Mavericks recieve Dorian Finney-Smith
Probably Brooklyn, but it's pretty close. They might need a first round pick swap as well.
Didn't the Nets ask for 2 1st rd picks or 2 1st rd equivalents for DFS... why would they go from that to the deal you conjured up?
Thybulle for Green, Cam Spencer in draft and Pippen Jr and Garuba as free agents
@YossiGozlanNBA the Mavs are less than $2M over the luxury tax right now. Couldn’t they just do something like trade THJ+ draft pick(s) for Jordan Clarkson (who makes $2.1M less) which would put them under the luxury tax and allow them to sign DJJ for the full MLE?
well Clarkson is a poor defender too, so no for me
Unfortunately that’s not how the MLE works.
Let Irving & Hardaway go....get younger.
@@YossiGozlanNBA How do we possibly replace a 25PPG 50/40/90 guy??
@@johnsain Kyrie has a player option following this upcoming season. He will likely want an extension. If he walks, who's providing Luka with 25PPG? LeBron/ Kyrie/Anthony Davis will likely be in the Finals

Mavs won’t be back In finals yes I’m Boston fan
West is too competitive. Odds are someone else makes it out next year.
@@YossiGozlanNBA I like Denver but those young kids will be better in okc
Saikam is a pipe dream, bro. But hell yeah that'd be perfect
The Mavs had a great season but, to take the next step, they should add someone like:
Péjå Stojákövic 6'10"
Marcus Camby 6'11"
Dennis Rodman 6'8"
Steve Kerr 6'3" and
Ben Wallace 6'9"
And perhaps Maxi Kleber is their Péjå and Oliver Omax Prosper can be our Dennis Rodman but they need to replace the dead weight on the team that contributed so very little:
THJ
Morris
Kleber
A J. Lawson
And, the young developmental guards. I totally trust the management of the Mavs to get the necessary pieces [2 more 3 points shooters, 2 more bigs and 3 great defensemen].
They can play 10 deep on everyone except the Celtics. Against them, only 9 can hold up:
Luka
Kyrie
P.J.
Brown
The 2 centers
Dante
Green
Hardy
But, to contend with the elite A-N-D defeat Boston in a 7-game series...they must improve on the backend.
Generally speaking, for elite excellence, they need:
1.) toughness with an edge à la Rodman & Wallace.
6.) Have a come to Jesus meeting with Luka:
Get in shape/stay in shape
No pouting/fighting refs
Work on 3 pt & midrange
Lead...
To be clear...he wants to be Pistol Pete Maravich [score 40 ppg with 2 assists while teammates watch] but N-E-E-D-s to be Magic Johnson [working the refs, a coach on the floor, calling plays, making sure everybody else gets points and touches the ball...while purposely holding back unless we get down by 15 or down to 5 seconds on the time clock or it's the last 5 minutes of the game.]
7.) Study Magic, Isaiah and Stockton.
Get it?
Got it??
Good...
