Have any of u noticed in the stream that they showed a cleric on bot or macro sometimes? That got me worried. The cleric mosdef was on macro/dual or was a bot. Later on he played normally. First appearences u can see the cleric spammim bless weapon, mana channel and rolling untill infinity. Later u can see the Plannindorf (name of the cleric) stucked in a corner trying to reach a enemy character (clearly a bot/macro trying to get the target that is out of range) and proceedes to die horrible. That got me worried that this stream is mostly of dual accounts that they made and left just on macro/bots. The whole video is cool, its very promising but this cleric gameplay got me worried. The first time I noticed this was at minute 46:00 of the 'Node Wars Preview' video only (the one with 1:19:04 min). Anw, hope that Ashes continues do dev, its becoming a very cool game. What worries the most is not the chance that his is a scam but that they dont test properly before launch. There's a bunch of ppl willing to test. Hope Alpha 2 and Closed Beta runs smooth and the player testing keep improving the game. ps: copying my comment from ur yesterday video cause Ive just noticed that I posted in the wrong video. MMOs take around 5 to 7 years on average to release the base version, AVERAGE is the key word here. Lost Ark took 8 years, Throne and Liberty took nothing less then 12 freaking years. Ashes is a massive project, 8 years is a long time, sure, but it's still normal for a MMORPG. MMOs are just way to complicated, is rough to follow one from start to finish.
@@vbm4780 also this avg is in weird place, wow took 5 years, it had larger development team than ashes in first years and wow released with much lower scope than ashes plans to do
I love how much you focused on the feel and physics of the movement and combat in your interview, Narc. It's truly a huge factor I think in the overall experience, and whether folks will choose to play it or not. Also completely agree about how WoW combat/movement feels grounded/high quality/satisfying, especially compared to it's "competitors".
Nice interview Narc, if memory serves me (an my memory has failed me in the past), I believe you have stated that this stuff isn't easy for you. To do it with your polar opposite, successfully, is a job well done mate.
The effects need to be scaled way the fuck back tbh. Maybe it's the youtube compression or video filter but they seem extremely saturated and frankly very distracting.
Why do the graphics look so different (cartoony) today, (I know they transitioned to UE5) was it because of the bad quality or they actually changed something !?
Dude the spell effects are just too much straight up. Maybe we’re just used to games made in 2005 but idk. The world looks amazing and immersive and next gen but when there’s two raids fighting the spell effects are insane lmao
@@DaGrox94I don’t know if that will solve it. It looks awesome don’t get me wrong but sometimes simplicity and how easy it is to recognize incoming effects is what makes combat “good” and competitive. I’m just worried a massive piece of the already small mmorpg community is going to be pushed back to playing a vanilla WoW era server haha. The best example I have is ball lightning, people seem to love that spell but when 15 mages cast it it’s going to be an absolute clusterfuck lol. Maybe I’m just yapping we’ll see

He has been covering this game for more than 7 years , he has forgotten more than you know about this game. Also following partial NDA and doing focus tests is tricky to navigate. Plus he has lifetime access to the game, so he is going to end up playing regardless, so he is not thinking the same way as you or I are.
So i learned absolutely nothing new from this guy. I think i know more about the game than him and i haven't even played it lmao. Narc carrying the video 😅 cant wait to test Alpha 2 this year!
From what i heard they want to make battles (1v1) last for about 30seconds. They dont want 5 seconds battles which i am ok with that personaly. The health bar aint going down cause if you see closely its split into 4 pieces. So if somene has full life at 100hp it wont go down until it reach 75hp and then at 50hp and then at 25hp which personaly i dont like at all.
The average, basic, gpu that the average Joe has in his computer is lower than what you call an average performing card. Calling the newest line of graphics cards basic is naive at best
Thanks Narc, I'm glad you touched on the character movement because its one of the most important things for me. I have always felt that WoW (despite its age) has excellent character movement, and in the 20 odd years since its release has rarely been equalled in other MMOs. Some people may not care and those that have WoW as the only MMO they've ever played probably do not know how good they have it, but this has been in my top 3 primary concerns for this game.
Soon(tm) My wife counted my alpha/beta test total in our 34 years of marriage, amazingly I've done 117 of them. True some were only a week or less, but that's more than I figured. LOL
ive been trying not to pay attention to Ashes really. as much as I desperately want a new good mmo idk how much this game will change between now and release especially if its 5-10 years out still. the node stuff seems kind of gimmicky to me. I usually play with a small group of friends so what im looking for is all the normal mmo stuff, all the dungeons, gear, mounts and cosmetics you can get from both. hard to obtain gear that is really cool looking at higher levels with low drop chance. crafting that is actually worth crafting to sell or use. im worried a Asmongold or some one will just take over a node with all his viewers and no one else has anything to do and the first week
Kinda goofy expecting him to join a streamed play test, likely adding pressure, to stop and inspect the game like some impatient fanboy who just got their first chance to play.
You know you say his priorities aren't in the right place, but I would argue they were in the only place that actually matters: IS IT FUN I am sick of these min/max neck beards who micro the fuck out of everything. Just have fun.
As they work on it will get better and better over time. There is lots of stutter on players and mobs in the foreground that are very far away in the distance still. Movement looks better than alpha 1 still needs work of course. VFX isn't as much all in ya face as it was before, but if players can turn that right down but still be helpful to said players then that will be fine. Cluster is there but not as bad as before. Hopefully we get to test lots of core systems in A2. However Beta is where a lot more will be shown I bet.
"transition animations" is not a thing...the game engine just takes all the animations the character has available and blends them by a value...in order...like if you just finished an attack it will blend and mix the end of that attack with the idle animation or the next attack... giving the illusion of seamless animations. It would be worrying if in 2024 they don't have it. i mean you allegedly tried unreal engine, and like all game engines it has this feature, it's very basic and among the first things you do.
Nah, showing too much can create alot of negativity. First impression is important, and people really don't care if it's a work in progress. Example, when they showed combat for the first time.
This game looks incredibly outdated to me. Despite years of development, it somehow appears worse than World of Warcraft, which was released back in 2004. The graphics are lackluster, the textures are low-resolution, and the overall visual design feels clunky and uninspired. For a game that's been in the works for so long, it's disappointing to see such a lack of progress in its aesthetic appeal.

it's 2024 (maybe release in 2027).... but graphic is uglier than ESO or Black Desert Online came out more than 10 years ago. gameplay: skill is clunky, animation look like student project, very generic skill just like every other MMOs, fire bolt, check, ice AOE, check, some random purple magic shot, check...... i mean..... why should i spend my precious time to play a game that has nothing special than other game i'm playing? because it's new and i quit after 2 weeks?

Bro this game is in development for like 7-8 years? and they publish this Alpha Shit which will 100% end up in 10 years more of developement there is nothing related yet to the gameplay or teaser trailer that they already published. This is such a shame to "release" a Alpha Test 2 just to show how bad this game still looks after 7-8 years xDDD and if they finish it in next 10 Years nobody will care about.
It still feels too much. Just like in WoW (and probably in other MMOs) in similar cases. Too many effects. The players can move too quickly, etc. It is just a mess to do battles with many players.

Anw, I want ppl to see that. That was very strange to see.
i love your content out of thin air!
keep it up
im 26 rn this game was anounced 8 years ago in 2016 i think but man 8 years and its not done yet,i bet that at the time i turn 30 afpha 3 is gonna come out and when im 80 the game is gonna get realeased holy shit they are taking theyr time its insane
not really, ashes development time is not unreasonable
MMOs take around 5 to 7 years on average to release the base version, AVERAGE is the key word here. Lost Ark took 8 years, Throne and Liberty took nothing less then 12 freaking years.
Ashes is a massive project, 8 years is a long time, sure, but it's still normal for a MMORPG.
MMOs are just way to complicated, is rough to follow one from start to finish.
@@vbm4780 also this avg is in weird place, wow took 5 years, it had larger development team than ashes in first years and wow released with much lower scope than ashes plans to do
Its pretty impressive tbh given the scope of the game and the size of the team working on it.
@@vbm4780 8 years would be ok, but its in alpha 2, prob will take 4 more years to be full released, rofl
Is the client stand alone or Steam?
how many more years do thy need to release this game? it looks nice according to video thy have shown us; but visual effects are so bright and shiny
I feel like as long as they go with the elden ring approach for vfx, we will be chilling
2:05, asking the important questions.
This is wild! I can’t believe it. This game is ACTUALLY going somewhere. Is it truly possible it’ll be playable?
I love how much you focused on the feel and physics of the movement and combat in your interview, Narc. It's truly a huge factor I think in the overall experience, and whether folks will choose to play it or not. Also completely agree about how WoW combat/movement feels grounded/high quality/satisfying, especially compared to it's "competitors".
combat and movement have to be snappy for it to be successful
Nice interview Narc, if memory serves me (an my memory has failed me in the past), I believe you have stated that this stuff isn't easy for you. To do it with your polar opposite, successfully, is a job well done mate.
The effects need to be scaled way the fuck back tbh. Maybe it's the youtube compression or video filter but they seem extremely saturated and frankly very distracting.
I think Ashes is looking very good. Looking forward to it !
It has been said many, many times but there will be options to reduce the amount of spell effects
Maybe I’m just yapping we’ll see
So your saying 20-50 people all casting at the same time seems to look a little hectic. Wow im surprised. Im hearing this for the first time
@@im1085 haha. The main thing I have a problem with is the wave of green vomit arrows from archers being stacked etc. mass pvp is always hectic to the untrained eye but some of the spells are just jarring
@@chucknorris5476 Thats because you are not used to them. LoL looks hectic in a teamfight if you have no idea what the abilities do but is pretty obviouse when playing. You just dont know whats going on
Spending alot of bucks and some of the basic things he didnt even bother looking at.
He has been covering this game for more than 7 years , he has forgotten more than you know about this game. Also following partial NDA and doing focus tests is tricky to navigate. Plus he has lifetime access to the game, so he is going to end up playing regardless, so he is not thinking the same way as you or I are.
Maybe he did but couldnt give infos.
Collisions will breed griefers blocking people in buildings and in corners.... It happens in every game with collisions lol
Ashes just needs an overhaul to the character models. Everything else is good
And combat.
The Rangers are armed with a semi-auto/full-auto assault rifles (aka Shortbow) with unlimited ammo. Ridiculous!
Oda is gonna finish one piece before ashes is comming out i this steven wants to race oda who is gonna finish theyr masterpiece first
Borderline unwatchable being serious for more than a minute would've helped...
Great to hear from FANTMX. Had to stop following his channel because of that killjoy, DYGZ.
Really cool video!
Sounds like a highly focused test for PI testers.
Spent 10k on the game but has a 4060 what universe am i in
to be fair, it's probb the first time fantmx did pvp in his life, he didnt know what to look at
Nah but I will readily tell you I'm a pver that likes to pvp sometimes
Wish someone would summarize the keypoints
So i learned absolutely nothing new from this guy. I think i know more about the game than him and i haven't even played it lmao. Narc carrying the video 😅 cant wait to test Alpha 2 this year!
They need to increase these damage up. The time to kill another player takes too long from what I’m seeing. I barely see any health bar going down.
Agree 100% ttk was aaaages
From what i heard they want to make battles (1v1) last for about 30seconds. They dont want 5 seconds battles which i am ok with that personaly. The health bar aint going down cause if you see closely its split into 4 pieces. So if somene has full life at 100hp it wont go down until it reach 75hp and then at 50hp and then at 25hp which personaly i dont like at all.
Lmfao fuck no , there is literally a thread in the forum about this , no one wants a shitty 3 second TTK where people get deleted instantly
I think a big thing is the healers there. Healers are huge and can spec into AOE heals.
Thank you Narc and thank you Fantmx
Looking good Narc!
Remember back in 2016 when this game promised it was going alpha in 2018....LOL You can figure out the rest = not a good report card
My account was hacked like 3 weeks ago and nobody at intrepid will talk to me about getting it back. $375 pledged. So scared I won't get it back.
did he play the test with his monitor turned off? how useful is a tester who has no observations?
5:44 you gotta get better sources man.
Is this an indy game designed on Nintendo switch?
Alpha 2 is coming!
If movement left/right has acceleration instead of instant, I'm out
Am I the only one that thinks people run too fast? Like the animations are rushed. I like really everything else don’t get me wrong.
I just want this game to not...suck...
4060 counts as basic shit now?FKING LOL
It's even more hilarious that he pays $2500 to be in an alpha test but spent $400 on his gpu.
Its literally the latest generation of graphics cards, thats not basic at all.
The average, basic, gpu that the average Joe has in his computer is lower than what you call an average performing card. Calling the newest line of graphics cards basic is naive at best
@mchonkler7225 2500? Your really a clown
DPS players instantly crying when the tanks are strong. Hope they don't make tanks useless in pvp like in literally every other mmo.
Soon(tm)
My wife counted my alpha/beta test total in our 34 years of marriage, amazingly I've done 117 of them. True some were only a week or less, but that's more than I figured. LOL
Great vid
ive been trying not to pay attention to Ashes really. as much as I desperately want a new good mmo idk how much this game will change between now and release especially if its 5-10 years out still. the node stuff seems kind of gimmicky to me.
The spell animations look cheat tho :(
Kinda goofy expecting him to join a streamed play test, likely adding pressure, to stop and inspect the game like some impatient fanboy who just got their first chance to play.
nice to here this game is shaping up
Dude paid $2k+ to play and didn't even look at his armor value...he's not worthy.
You know you say his priorities aren't in the right place, but I would argue they were in the only place that actually matters: IS IT FUN
I am sick of these min/max neck beards who micro the fuck out of everything.
Overly burdensome ongoing NDA's should be a huge red flag to anyone following this game.
Nah, showing too much can create alot of negativity. First impression is important, and people really don't care if it's a work in progress. Example, when they showed combat for the first time.
@@Infidel. "showing too much can create alot of negativity"
Don't worry, the excel spreadsheet gods will play the game
This game looks incredibly outdated to me. Despite years of development, it somehow appears worse than World of Warcraft, which was released back in 2004. The graphics are lackluster, the textures are low-resolution, and the overall visual design feels clunky and uninspired. For a game that's been in the works for so long, it's disappointing to see such a lack of progress in its aesthetic appeal.
Are you really taht blind?? You are comapring carooney world of warcraft with jagged ridges edges and 2D pixelated grahpics with AOC???? hahahahahhah Omg what a hater!!! The game littery looks 100000000x better tan any mmo currently out there!!!!! At the moment imo gw2 looks the best for its time!!!! AOC looks beyoond sick!!!!! There nothing low resolution about it! I think you are wtachigg the youtube clips onon old computer or your graphics card is outded or something cuz we are not seeing the same thigns! I see highes purest super clear high def graphics with super sharp crips pixels and zero sharp edges and very realsitic enviroenmetn! World of warcraft looks a like a low pixelated cartoon game!
MOAR
it's 2024 (maybe release in 2027).... but graphic is uglier than ESO or Black Desert Online came out more than 10 years ago.
gameplay: skill is clunky, animation look like student project, very generic skill just like every other MMOs, fire bolt, check, ice AOE, check, some random purple magic shot, check......
i mean..... why should i spend my precious time to play a game that has nothing special than other game i'm playing? because it's new and i quit after 2 weeks?
This game will get released in the year 2375 😂
man that fantmx guy has like zero personality lmao
Zero. Actually less than zero
Jesus… why even talk to this dude you can tell he was muzzled since the first question.
I agreee! He clearly did nto want to tak about anything else but the node system as if he got clear contractual commands to not speak abouta nything else but teh nodes! He dodged every questions! Al lof themmm!!!!!!! He did not even wanna talk about the chracter creatio or character customization! Jesus!!! I get it! He is muzzeld by the devs so why even bother interviewing him??? You wotn egt anything out of him that the devs have not already shared with us! He is not allowed to add any extra new insights only copy past what the devs have already come out with!
Player collision has to be one of the worst ideas ever for an MMO.
There is no benefit to it, just remove it.
It still feels too much. Just like in WoW (and probably in other MMOs) in similar cases. Too many effects. The players can move too quickly, etc. It is just a mess to do battles with many players.
go play Minesweeper old man
Steven has said that the VFX soup issue will be fixed, it’s in that state because it is in Alpha
They specified, like 10 times, that they are currently working on UI and effects.
@@nicolasdiskskd7456 Thats true. I've seen the original video as well. And I have a lot of hopes in Ashes, so it's not like I'm just here to be negative.
It was just my first thought seeing the footage.
I agree, the effects are plain horrible
Narc, you’re unbearable in this interview. Just soak up what he’s giving you and hush. Bashing him stopped being funny after the first time. The dude literally volunteered to be interviewed by you.
Intrepid should hire more combat designers or combat engineers, they need to improve this aspect a lot. The warrior is horrible, he doesn't look like a warrior. The magician, those rainbow magics, wtf? The graphics must improve a lot, I know they are in alpha, but you have been developing for 8 years?
Shits on Pax Dei test but at least they didn't con you out of 250 bucks.
Only because of the lack of specific test objectives
Are the red gummy bear walls red enough ? #NotAScam
Bro this dude spent 2.5k to test an alpha without actually testing shit or seeing how the game plays and feels. Literally no response to any questions based on how the game plays. "It wasn't my focus." Yeah cause I just like to blow 2.5k out my ass just to play the game without testing shit.
Games without collision are dog shit
Stop with the click bait titles. There are no alpha 2 testers right now because they're not in Alpha 2!
Looks meh.
I like the guy he is there just to play and have fun he doesn't care about the stupid shit Narc complains about lol
wtf are you talking about the movement looks like shit, the horse slides across as it running down the road.
The animations are good and it’s alpha lol they have time
don't play, then. nobody will miss you. I can't imagine being this critical when a game is in alpha. unreal.
They are talking about char and you mention a horse. Go away.
they addressed the mount movement they are in a barebone state both from a functional and visual prespective. no transition animatinos or directional movement yet
@@faintsmile3279what about player movement? Those arent seamless too. And i dont think that will be fixed.
