Ben i have a wee tip for you sir , youre a good man and you can sure work in engines and cars / trucks far better than i ever could , thats for sure , but my tip is this . when leaning over into an engine bay like you just did , get youreself a peice of foam 2 inches thick and 2foot 6 inches wide and 3 foot long , put it between you and the car , it will make it eiser on the old body , AND MAKE SURE YOU KEEP IT DRY TOO . thats me , nice channel man keep it up .
My daughters (ugh) boyfriend showed up yesterday with 2 vehicles that needed brakes. It took him 8 hours to change 6 brake pads, 2 rotors,, 1 caliper!!!! Oh and we used a C clamp to push in the pistons in with out cracking the bleeders open!!! It was raining, and the boy isn't for sure on which end of a screwdriver to hold! And yes I finally had to get in to finish the job!!
@@archangel7673 thank goodness for the more wise generation that will allow the struggle / learning to happen then be willing to assist to finish it up. Next time it might only take 6 hours. The struggle is real but they won’t learn without it. I love it!!!
Its a clip that holds the rotor on when the chassis is going over head on the assembly line. Cut them off you don't need them. they can cause wheel vibration,if they are not on all lug studs. Especially on aftermarket rims.
This is one of my top 3 channels. The part I like best is when the fam is integrated into the videos. More from Marie and the kids, and more on the house and property as it develops. Thanks for entertaining me!
Ben, it is time for you to get your workshop sorted. By looking at the mountains in the background winter is around the corner. Regards Ben Koekemoer, Nigel, South Africa.
Waking up covered in snow. Yay. The knife work looked fun. The brake work is never fun. I always pop the cap off the master so the fluid will go back easier when I compress the caliper. Of course checking the fluid level 1st is a good way to not wear it. ;) Stay warm, and happy hunting.
YOU WORK ON GRAVEL DIRT DRIVEWAYS AND YOUR WAHPSHING YOUR ENGINE BAY BEFORE YOU WORK ON IT . YOUR THE ONLY ONE TO WASH SOMETHING BEFORE YOU WORK ON IT. ALL THE OTHERS COULD LEARN FROM YOU. AWSOME BEN . YOUR THE BEST
I think that you're replacing the mirror, not repairing it. That's the difference between real mechanics and parts changers. Some repair shop personnel use an analyzer to find a problem, then they proceed to change out parts until the problem is fixed. A real mechanic knows the problem and repairs the part to make it continue working. If necessary, a real mechanic will make a part to fix the problem.

Have seen some drivers need (especially) front pads at 12,000 miles, (at metal on metal condition). (Specific driver types not disclosed here, on purpose). 😆
When you get your shop set up, you could get a lathe. Then you could turn the rotors properly with precision. Paul has an old lathe that would do the job. He would probably give it to you for nothing.
@@bryduhbikeguy I forgot that. Maybe he'd sell it to you. If not, there is a company that may help you get a good machine: H&W Machine Repair & Rebuilding.
