      Love watching your work. One question though, I'm super confused how you got such a clear hamon without claying the blade? Or did you perhaps do a clay treatment in a separate heat treatment off camera? Thanks, and amazing work!

    That is such a cool choice of materials for everything. I love how the grain of the carbon fiber really shines with all that shaping. It really does look great against the finer grain of the blade.

      Heck, even the way he turned the grain looks great. It did hurt to seem him heat that tang back up. He did keep the heat away from the blade but still.

    Absolutely amazing skill the heat in the forge is that accurate the steel settle with out complexity blending too achieve the pattern the handle and sheeth in carbon fibre is beautiful very good job 👍👍

      I was surprised to see that too, especially since they didn't clay the blade at any point that I saw and they did a full blade quench so I'm unsure where the hamon came from exactly.

    I simply love the blade, it looks fantastic. I like a bit more of a traditional/old school style handle with wood or antler, but the blade looks fantastic.

    Crucible steel is not inherently wootz. Wootz is a specific type of ore that has very specific properties that are impossible to recreate by melting chainsaw chain with carbon and glass. Nice work, but calling it Wootz Damascus is disingenuous.

      True but I think he is trying to distinguish from mosaic damascus (pattern welded).
      Between the two, this is the more authentic "damascus".
      We really need a terminology cleanup in the blacksmithing culture.

    I've been binge watching wood working and knife making videos for the past week. I must say this particular Bokuto Knife is the most beautiful thing I've seen so far. The exterior as well as the steel texture... Just mesmerizing . I hope the steel is as sharp as it looks and stays that way. That's a piece of sculpture.

    Very beautiful knife. The skill involved is amazing. That being said, wootz steel is still a lost art. No One has been able to recreate Damascus. What we do now is pattern welding.

    The pattern is astounding, but Wootz steel-the actual, _true_ Damascus steel-is a specific type of *crucible steel* whereas this, like all of TH-cam's "Damascus" videos, is pattern welding.

    En verdad, realizo un hermoso trabajo, el manejo del metal y la forma que le dio, es una de las mas parecidas al cuchillo tanto japonés, y definitivamente el acabado que le dio esta muy bien, solo la separación de la funda y el mango hubieran quedado o visto mucho mejor a la vista en metal
