Some artists use so much autotune but if their song goes viral they will perform it and it will be shocking to everyone how different it is.

Honestly most pop singers are objectively good singers. This is from someone whose favorite bands are Pink Floyd and Queen. It isn’t that they “require” autotune, it’s just that the current climate of listeners doesn’t appreciate raw music. A lot of them are still really good singers though.

There are good aspects of modern music/musicians. Do I prefer it? No. But there are definitely good aspects. For example, modern pop muaicians are very very good at melody. They always write beautifully catchy melodies. The alternative sub-pop/ folky type of artists (like Lumineers or Head and the Heart) are experts at their acoustic instruments and understand how to make abstract noises that sound great. Itwould just be great if people could listen to music and be able to articulate what’s good and bad about it. Because saying “this isn’t real music” means nothing coming from people who don’t play a single instrument.
That performance on the show was gorgeous,, both of you sounded so great together.. The way you used your breathy part of your voice was sultry playful and magic. I can't stop listening to it... wonderful job you two, and what a great song.
