- Here is a recording of a real Demo 1 Interview! The audio for the interviewer is hard to hear, but this is a valuable insight for what to expect with your first interview. I just passed demo 1 tonight. I’m so thankful I watched your video before my interview. I could not hear the trainer either. I had my system volume and her volume at 100%.

Thank you for posting! I have an interview on Thursday! This helps me as I continue to practice as well! :) I think it is interesting that the entire interview was not completed and she informed you that you moved on to the next level (Demo interview 2).

@@MariahM21 It went good! My 2nd interview...wasn't all that great lol...but I'm starting my trial classes next week and I'm so excited! Something about talking to an adult like you would a child just made me extra nervous!
@@Rissawinedrinker No problem! It think I responded late but the two interviews were about a day apart. I had to reschedule my 2nd interview because school just started (College student) and I didn't think I would've been prepared. They're very accommodating when it comes to rescheduling if you give them plenty of time!
Hi T. Klayton. Thanks for sharing this demo. I have been working in a call center for almost 4 years now. And i wanted to give it a try to work at home. Would you mind me asking If how much you get paid an hour?
I know you receive $8 for every 30 minute class. You can also receive $2 in bonuses: $1 for an attendance bonus and another $1 for performance bonus! In total it is possible to receive $10 per 1/2 hour or $20 per hour with the bonuses included.

In Demo 2 do you go through an entire lesson? Do you basically do the same thing as when you showed the interviewer the games? A little confused on how the two are different besides the technical portion.
I will have a Demo 2 video coming out soon. They ask several open ended questions and different scenarios.

Q 1: "NETWORK TEST"
Did Qkids provide there own NETWORK TEST PLATFORM / SERBICE PROVIDER to check your computer's network speed or did you do your network test on one of your own network service providers?
Q 2: How did you go about to send the interviewer of Qkids your internet speed result via email, wechat or what?

Yes, they provide a network test in the app. Then you can just screenshot or take a picture with your phone and send it to them in a message on the app.
I just found an email from the hiring team that gives the required computer speeds. It says: "Our requirement for upload should be at least 2mbps, while download would be 4mbps." --Hope this helps!
Great video. But how do you know how to do all this during the interview? I mean how did you already know how to check if there’s issues with the students audio or where to click for everything? Do you get to practice beforehand?
After you submit your application, if everything looks good, they will send you a link to download the Qkids app (for Mac or PC) along with a username and password. Inside the app, there are several lessons for you to go through to get familiar with the classroom. There are video demonstrations for almost everything. Then, they give you an empty classroom where you can try all the stuff out. The videos they give you are only available in the Qkids app. They are made by Qkids staff and they cover everything you will need to demonstrate during the interview.

Why did you use your phone to send he/she the 'snap shots" of your network. I thought you sent that through the portal? Are their multiple ways to do this?
You didn't really do any of the modeling or prompting that I'm going through in the lesson trainings right now. Did the platform change significantly/ are you still working with them? Thx:)
I noticed when you apply they ask for your resume, do you know if they contact your references? Or is it more to confirm that you're degree-seeking and have a background with children? Also your video was super helpful, I'm wanting to apply but have been dreading the demos that everyone keeps mentioning. I just applied for an ESL position that came through FB jobs postings for Qkids. I am not savvy as to creating an introductory demo of myself to present. I am sure that could be a deal breaker, so I need to get some help getting that done. How did you create yours? Also, while I have some early learning experience from years ago in a couple of daycare centers, I do not hold a certificate of any kind specifically to teach ESL. Would you be able to recommend a program? I am willing to go through the training in order to get certified because I believe in this work and would enjoy it very much.
Brenda, those are great questions! I have a whole video about the requirements to be a Qkids teacher! Your resume can be a very rudimentary Microsoft Word document. That is what I did. There is a screenshot of it in the video. There is also a link to an ESL certificate class that I recommend.

Thank you Cecillia! You do not need a degree in teaching, they just prefer you have a degree or be seeking a degree in any subject. 16 years of daycare is awesome, and with that much experience, you should be a shoe in!

Do they give you the slides or info before to study for the demo 1 interview?

I see that interview one is using the tools for the software. I found it interesting that you dont have props along with interview compare to other ESL online programs
+Kathy Nguyen I thought about using props, but the instructions that were given prior to the interview said to just have a plain, solid color background.
@@klaytonbook Really? I have a very cute background for very young kids, or I have a plain white background... I will take your advice and assume my students are older, and do not need to see cute emojys animals on the walls.
HELP! I just completed my demo interview 1. My interviewer only guided me through the first 3 sections and then it was over. She said she would be in contact within 24 - 48 hours. Is this typical ? or did I just BOMB !!

That’s a great question! So that only happens when you use photo booth to record your application video, and it doesn’t matter a bit. When you’re in the QK classroom, it doesn’t show up backwards.
Do you have a certain amount of time to do this? A notice a timer at the top.

+Courtney Keller, If you go into the “classroom” before class starts, the timer will count down minutes and seconds until class starts. After class starts, the timer counts how long your lesson takes. I don’t think time matters in your demos. In a real class, you focus on the material for 28 minutes, and then the leaderboard and celebration for the last 2 minutes.

How long was the actual interview?
I just did my qkids demo 1 interview. I was told I would need a tefl certificate since since I have not finished my BA (current student), I knew other students that worked for qkids, I never heard anything about them having certificates. Do I really need one!
It is a new requirement from what I was told.
You can find online courses about teaching English to speakers of other languages. They usually just take a couple hours to complete.
Are you allowed to perform the network test repeatedly until the ping is at 80 or under?
You can do it as many times as you want and I don't think they know. As long as you send them a picture of it.

When you get the app, you have access to the lessons as soon as the schedule is made.
How much time did you have to prepare because my Demo 1 is less than 12 hours and I still haven’t been given login information or access, so I’m super nervous

Milena M what do you think it was? I just had mine and i forgot to give diamonds in the second slide, got nervous and forgot to say the mute thing, and didn’t use the textboard during a particular slide. Nervous to hear back
@@teresareviewsitall3613 Hi Teresa, I think it combination of couple of things: i supposed to give 50-80 diamonds throughout the demo but i gave only 20 lol, i was a bit nervous so forgot to use textboard a couple of times and didnt know know what for was 1 button. You can ABSOLUTELY re-apply, I asked the company about this for someone before. Try, try again!
Milena M weird. i do feel like in comparison to some ppl who show their interviews they made more mistakes than us, but i guess it also depends on how fierce the competition is at the time. Thank you!
