Thanks for posting this. It was very informative. I'm not a real trans builder. I know what I need to know for drag racing and a "freshen up" where they just needed fresh parts. Diagnosing a problem...I'm only now starting to learn about that. What I'm working on now is 727 out of the 62 Fury with the 318 Poly. The trans worked fine, shifted fine, everything was good...EXCEPT it leaked a ton out of the front pump seal. It turned out the converter bushing was bad and the area where the input shaft's sealing rings make contact with the reaction shaft housing. It was just a crappy 3 disk front and rear clutch but I was able to fit an extra set of frictions in the front clutch. The owner, my best friend and roommate, was amazed how good it shifted, how crisp the shifts were and just how much better the trans performed after I built it and put it back in. Then, after several days he noticed it wasn't shifting into third without lifting off the throttle a little. I of course I thought I knew what to do which was to adjust kick down linkage. Which I did but I was so close that it only took one full turn to be perfectly adjusted and the slightly early up shift from first to second streatched out a big but it still won't shift to third unless you lift the throttle pedal slightly and it shifts fine. Any ideas as to what to look for?
    Thanks,
    Wayne
