I LOVE that picture of Harry Truman at 1:10. Interesting historical story. The following year, in 1948, Truman approached Cadillac to lend him several cars for use in the 1948 campaign. Sure that he was going to lose, Cadillac refused. After Truman WON and it came time to replace the aging White House livery, he was still mad at Cadillac and went to Lincoln and ordered several Lincoln Cosmopolitan limousines. One of them was retrofitted for Eisenhower which became the famous "bubbletop." This began a trend where the presidential state limousine was a Lincoln until Reagan switched back to Cadillac in 1983! I bet Cadillac was kicking themselves in butt for snubbing Truman!
@@odietamo9376 Yep. Old Harry sure knew how to hold a grudge! Of course, after Reagan, Bush the first went back to Lincoln and then Clinton went back to Cadillac. "Dubya" Bush also had a Cadillac for his first term but after 9/11 they switched to a custom built vehicle which only looks like a Cadillac from the outside but that's where the similarity ends. They are more like tanks now built on truck platforms with all custom features in and out.
1947 was the last year for all Cadillacs to have the pre War styling, 1948 was the new styling and the 1949 limousine was the last Cadillac to be built with a running board between the fenders.
Over 30 years ago I knew a man who had a 1960 Cadillac convertible. He bought it from the original owner. Oh MAN that car was SUCH a pleasure to ride in ......beautiful. It was black with red interior and a white top.
Normally I pass on Cadillacs pre-fin. With that being said, this has made me see the error of ways. It is better to have an open mind. All Cadillacs are created equal. Good execution of highlighting a 47.
@@GenerallyGeneralLee I did, and you’re right. I used to know all this by heart, but I guess the memories are beginning to fade a little. Anyway, I did look it up, and in my defense I was surprised at the huge range of models in both years. I saw photos of ‘57 models that look almost identical to 58s, and models from both years that look so different from most that I don’t remember them at all!
Love these post war Cadillacs. I miss my 46 Series 62 convertible. Thanks for sharing.

I never heard that before. What an interesting story.

What a tale!
@@larryjones-emery807 Indeed it is; and all 100% true! Truman knew how to hold a grudge when he felt he or his family were wronged.
A Beautiful,Graceful Limousine.A car from times gone by,when things were more relaxed.

Height of Great American luxury engineering and ingenuity! 🙏
This is what I normally have Avie ride around in, never heard of that different colored coat before or anything... Eric and Ty
High, wide, handsome, and heavy.
Talking about my wife?
@@DavidJones-sf9vy Ha, ha, ha!
Wow. That car has Presence.
Very stately. I'd love to drive it.
Looks like Harry Truman at 1:05 .
For good reason.
Yea it looks like Harry Truman because it IS Harry Truman!
2:00 What are the lines from the pillars to the hood?
Beautiful
Thanks for the Cadillac photos. In the past I owned a 1960 Cadillac. And I like the music. What is the name of the song and who is the artist?

I want one! What a car!

I've always liked these. In fact if money were no object I'd buy it and air condition it. Some 1941 Caddys were A/C'd.
Well, they were all created equal through 1999 anyway...................
@@johntapp1650 THAT WAS PACKARD
Remember Fleetwood? They thought it was because of the name on the trailer in the park in Woolley! Some lawyers
Title should be 1947 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75. Not all 75s are limousines.
I'm thinking the non-limos were imperial 8 or 9 passenger sedans. They were absent the divider window and a few other things.
@@johntapp1650 Actually the non limos were 7 passenger sedans. Of THIS vintage anyway. Eventually, they became 9 passenger sedans. I had one. A 1976.
HEY a naughty '58 snuck in there 3:12!
Hmm, I think it’s a ‘57.
@@odietamo9376 Nope, look it up.

How much?
This is a motorcar!
What’s with the weird music?
I wanted to see the 47...not a car show !!!
Don Corleone.
Tell Fredo to drive the big car...........
Or maybe just a bank president.
music sucks.
