Also, your friend did a good job with that translation, but I wouldn't had "Once bitten, twice shy" be translated literally, because as a phrase it won't make any sense in German. Maybe the the German counterpart "Gebranntes Kind scheut das Feuer" (literally translated to "A burned child fears the fire") would fit well to the style of Rammstein too.

I guess the issue with the "once bitten, twice shy" line was that the German person who did the translation didn't understand that English idiom either. If you wanted to translate it literally, but still somewhat understandable, I'd suggest "Einmal gebissen, jetzt zweimal so scheu" (schüchtern does mean shy, but more in the context of being bashful or insecure, not in the context of shying away from something). But yeah, it would probably be better to replace the line entirely by an idiom that is actually used in German, like "ein gebranntes Kind scheut das Feuer".
