Harstem, I had this cool Idea I just thought of it so it's not fully thought out, but It's a simple strategy I'm not sure has been tried or not. So, basically you would play normally as if you were going for a 3-base opener. Except once you have started the third base you go in to attack with Ling/bane as 1/0 and speed is getting finished(just a few banes to break the wall off) to target their economy. Then, begin transitioning to hydra/ling/bane (add on mutas if the game gets to that point) and start a never-ending series of Harassment on their eco, and basically try to force them to stay on 2/3 bases with you until you or they win. I might be dumb, but I don't think I've seen this specific strategy done before at least not by you Harstem.
Second game would have become *MUCH simpler* had only Harstem done this VERY simple thing at 17:26 -- take out his scout / contain group into a suicide raid into the Zerg's 2nd *OR* 3rd. Yes, Harstem would have lost ALL his units... eventually... but at the expense of deliverying a decent hit on the Zerg's budding eco *AND* budding ling + Queen count. Eventual result would have been: Zerg too weak for counterattack, while Harstem -- well-fortified and secure enough to safely secure his Third and start building an army. *BASICALLY: Harstem chose a re-active reponse to his opponent, rather than a PRO-active one. **_THAT's_** what confounded him.* .
you need backup ideas for weird scenarios; really think last game you could just have gone all in; he already forced 8 zerglings+ a hatch finish+queen+overlord that's already 10zealots in resources; i cannot see how he would hold that on top off the equal army; and since roaches are their only stacker+queens on defence, immortals are super good, so just immortals+1observer, and pressure. blink early=should always keep trading, never stop trading when apm is free ;D bring a probe early with the first stalkers and setup an aggressive 1-2 batteries+pylon, only 250minerals and it's soo much more trading/staying power. and if you decide that your not going to pressure, you should throw upgrades and shield+photons and wall off entrence's; just force a mid/late game. i think also DT shrine is 1 immortal in price, and just having access to DT's forces him into T2 before he can attack, it also gives so much utility as he can't push at all if he doesn't have air control or a lot off overseers (which quickly gets expensive), just having 1-2 DT's close to the army only sending them in if there is no detection would be amazing; also access to archons is insane vs. lings; 1 archon+1 shieldbat in a choke auto-defend unlimited amount off zerglings; and it's only 200/200 resources and low supply for it; honestly it would be worth just leaving an archon+1 shieldbat in each mineral line at midgame-> (it also allow for a possibility off a defence when you get wiped on the floor by something tricky ;P
last game. also if your in that much doubt off what is happening, use the first oracle to throw a revalation on his main; you can now see exactly what is comming out and tech lvl etc. makes it clear and is safe and basically free
I love the idea of your playstyle becoming extra cheese-heavy. Bly has always been among my favourites because of his blind risk taking, and I feel like your creativity would lend very strongly to reinventing all-out early cheeses
Hallucination has a different number of units spawned per unit. For most units it is just 1, but for Zealots, Stalkers, Adepts, and High Templars it is 2, and for Probes you get 4 Probes from 1 cast of Hallucination. So that makes Hallucinated Probes a good move in the early game as you can efficiently scout several areas of the map for proxies or hidden bases.
1Gate, forge, then cyber is great against proxy hatch especially when the spines go down. It's basically a free forge considering zerg's investment. Can hit with +1 fast.
The "correct" response to a hatch like that, is to pull 6 workers immediately. It will mean the hatch either dies right as it pops, or is cancelled last second. That way you get your natural in a proper timing and can get into a third base faster. Though, obviously, if you see a scouting drone you pull a probe down to block his hatchblock. Not letting it happen in the first place is the best counter :)
That's a LOT of mining time to pull 6 for. Response was fine with the zealot and battery for wall, double adept could have crossed map to inflict eco damage but harstem didn't notice the expand in opponent natural. Zerg having 1 ling left delaying the taking of 3rd instead of leaving it open would have been good. If 6 zerglings pop at the same time as queen instead of after, does it get cleaned up that easy?
@@axxey 6 pulled is the standard if the hatch goes down in your natural. The economical damage you take if the hatch finishes and spreads creep is much, much worse. Plus, you often cannot tell if 8 lings are coming across the map to deny the third or attempt to allin your wall, making lings/queens with the larvae from the hatch in your nat. You -have- to pull 6 if you want an even game. It's been debated to death since 2012 when the strategy first emerged.

I have a recent one thats very funny, maybe not entertaining from a skill point of view (below 3000 mmr) but a very funny ending with a stereotypical protoss noob who calls everything imba. He had 5 gates but no gateway researched. i outmicroed him and he said my units are imba, then he started abusing me because he did everything worse than me, and im not very good. It also had its moments skillwise, but mostly because he was so bad and I was so scared of air all the time because he was on 2 base for so long.

I wonder if that build would have been better if he had just skipped blocked without using the hatch at all. Building and losing the queen has to be pointless, and while he cancels the lings, cancelling doesn’t return all the money, so he lost an additional 200ish minerals for nothing, on top of the 350 for the hatch (50 for drone + 300 for hatch). 550 minerals for a base block is super expensive, I think he’s better off just cancelling the hatch and rebuilding it if possible rather than wasting minerals
He executed the build wrong, probably because he's trying to adapt it. I've tried that build (and failed and I'm not even masters) and normally, the lings come out at the same time as the queen. The expansion delay is supposed to be enough to force protoss to relinquish their early game worker advantage, I believe. Build I followed is a proxy hatch by Railgan.
It never ceases to amaze me how many banelings high level players manage to lose just so they can avoid hitting generic targets. If he doesn't try and micro(if can call it that) his banelings he just kills your entire army and wins game.
Harsterm, dont sell yourself short, you are better than just cheesing, play some fundamental, clean, beautiful, solid starcraft 2, shrug off the all ins and cheeses of your opponents and counter them with skill, AMP and strategy. you cant sink to the level of constant cheese, thats for the weak
