    Yes! *"This lady is *literally dying"* Drill home the points! Of course, patients being killed by a serial killer - with no accountability is the main crime. But, ironically, a dedicated health worker is working within a ridiculous administrative 'system' as well LOL! Like your observations, speaks to this movie having two compelling serious stories to tell. :)

    The shocking thing about this movie is the narrative that Cullen was a lonely guy and only killed because the system didn't stop him . He was an evil premeditated multiple murderer. He was responsible not a victim of circumstance. That confession scene is ridiculous - like a bad acting workshop. In real life Cullen ditched all ties with the Amy character when he found out she was assisting the cops. Eddie Redmayne is toe curlingly self indulgent and show offish. And overall it is so drab and dull.

    It felt incomplete. IMO, there could have been a lot more of the investigation, like Zodiac, and, as you said, maybe some more on the administrative failures that let the guy keep bouncing from hospital to hospital. Instead, there’s a lot of moments where it’s almost like a generic stalker type movie from the 90s.

    OK, I'm late... Just saw this and honnestly I got a certain Psycho vibe from Cullen.. I know I'm an overthinker sometimes. But seeing him crying, I don't wanne say, and how he looks, I thought of split personality. Maybe he has his mother in him and taking revenge on the hospitals like they threatened his mom???? Just my crazy thinking....

  • @mandymac74

    This movie was too dark. Not the story but the picture. I agree with Joseph that some parts of this movie were lacking. And, it just bothered me how it never seemed to come together. I feel like some parts were rushed while other parts kinda dragged a bit. I never understood why the hospitals never had him arrested.? I felt like this could and maybe was a Covid film. I enjoyed both Chastain and Redmayne performances. But, I had a hard time seeing Resmayne as a villain. I almost felt sorry for him. I worked at a hospital and they will help employees regardless of coverage. Especially, ICU workers. They will go around to try and help save that employee’s life. But, all hospitals are different. It just seemed odd that she couldn’t get more help. I think creative license was taken a lot.

    I hear what you're saying about the movie but I think the movie's perspective was on the Healthcare system. It wanted you to feel bad for the good nurse Amy who is struggling but also realize that Charlie could have been stopped at any point prior to meeting Amy if the other hospitals cared more about their patients and not the money. I think the movie is more of a social commentary to get us talking.

    I enjoyed this well enough, but unrealistic/unnecessary parts seemed like (1) giving Jessica Chastain a heart condition to add tension (did the actual woman have this? I could be wrong) and (2) the idea that a veteran nurse (even on a new job) would have no health insurance, whereas in reality she probably would (nurses are in a high demand /skilled, full-time job, you can get insurance from previous job extended via COBRA, and if you quit your job you can go on Medicaid). I have been on COBRA and Medicaid before, so this felt like an unrealistic way to add tension.

      I don't like the U.S. health care system and enjoyed free/low cost health care during the 10 years I lived overseas, so I do understand the shortcomings of health care in the U.S., but those aspects didn't seem realistic

    • @gamerdrops
      @gamerdrops ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The heart condition reminded me of how in many thriller / zombie movies, there's a kid who has asthma (Panic Room) or is diabetic (Greenland), to raise the stakes

    • @cpjmorgan
      @cpjmorgan ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the real woman played by Chastain had a very serious heart condition that she had to hide to keep her job. The murder nurse figured it out though. The real woman is still alive today and was eventually able to have a pacemaker installed!

    My thoughts exactly, the performances are excellent but the script was such a missed opportunity to explore not only the mind of disturbingly complex individual, but also the corruption and bureaucracy of the health care system. Still the movie is way above the usual netflix standards.

    Saw this last night and loved it. Agreed that I was far more worried about Jessica's character dying from heart failure like - that scene when she was running up those stairs?? Lady - as a smoker my arse would be crawling yet there you go like an Olympian sprinter on steroids with Charlie chasing you!! Expected her to drop dead any minute.🤣🤣 Although I wanted more on Charlie, understood that it was based/focused on Amy's horrific journey and Jessica played that role to the hilt. Eddie - I felt - was wasted. Better if he'd starred in Charlie Cullen's movie/tv series as the lead...aka Jeffery Dalmer's thingy. Such an amazing actor. They made a great team ❤❤

    This movie affected me for two reasons: 1. I just found out I have a heart condition and 2. We had a local nurse serial killer here in my area who's victims were at a vet hospital in Northampton, MA. Her name was Kirsten Gilbert. Convicted of 4 I believe and suspected of 350.
    It's crazy that our health care system is this deluded.
    But yeah thanks for the exhumed laugh I needed that 😆
