Most of my generation (Baby-Boomers/born circa 1945-1950) spent our childhoods fixatedly watching/learning/mimicing the cowboy-heroes we discovered on tv: Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and (my personal favorite) William Lawrence Boyd as Hopalong Cassidy just to name a few. There IS an old-time western which I saw..just once..decades ago, and would love to see again; it's an early talkie (made in 1930), 'Billy The Kid,' starring a very young Johnny Mack Brown and Wallace Beery as Pat Garret. Good show, gentlemen! Thanks for airing it.
Tom Tyler was a great star of B Westerns & serials as Captain Marvel & The Phantom. In A movies he usually was the villain(Luke Plummer in Stagecoach) for example.
These old movies remind me of Saturdays Matinees Our town had 4 indoor theaters and 2 drive in's..Mom would use the matinees to baby set us on saturdays. Double features, serial, cartoon, coming attractions, and news of today. Saw most of the old westerns, great time to be alive.
Dad is right about his daughters choice for a husband...LOSER..says it all in the first few minutes...The old "I can stop gambling anytime" Ive done it 6 times already this year..
Galloping on a horse and trying to shoot? I don't know how well this is depicted in movies. Seems to me that the easiest thing to do would be to shoot the bad guy's horse preventing him from getting away. It would be a lot easier to hit the horse than the rider. You rarely see a horse gets shot except by accident in the movies. But I bet that's how they did it in the old days.
