      Definitely felt like an infomercial. Especially when preppy didn't even provide any specific information on their site about the program like curriculum, what kind of laptop they're including and the fine print on that offer, or even a faq section. Just "Look at how awesome this program is!!! ENROLL NOW!!!" If you pay close attention, neither Mr. Preppy nor Victoria herself actually say the university name!!! Just a lil inserted pic of Auburn University and referring to A university. Very suspicious, and incredibly disappointing.

    Currently helping my wife with her AAPC CPC Instructor Led Course. It's tough, but she's gotten so much more confident with more practice. In the beginning she felt stumped and frustrated bc of the huge learning curve (even though she did the Fundamentals course prior to it), but the more questions she does and the documents she dissects, I see her confidence rising. I'm a budding doctor (just 3 months left!) and this coding stuff isn't easy for me either, but she's getting very efficient now and pulling out all the tricks I would never have thought of. Props to all you coders!
    Edit: for anyone wondering, my wife has no background in medicine whatsoever! Despite the novelty of the subject material and its difficulty to grasp, she's been pulling through!

    I have a question.... I attended a trade school in 2010 and "graduated" in 2011 with medical billing and coding. Needless to say they never truly helped me get my certification or find a job that would allow me to do coding without a certification. I still remember some of the things that I learned and I am seriously wanting to try at it again except this time get the necessary certification. I am just needing to know exactly where I should start. Or if I should just start all over. Granted I don't want nor do I have access to thousands of dollars or wanting loans. I just really want my coding certification.

  • @SuzieRox
    @SuzieRox ปีที่แล้ว

    I am a new mom realizing that I need to shift to remote work (work from home) to be home with baby and still make a living. For any active coders, is this a good option to be able to be home with young children and still earn a living? I have 14 years experience in pharmacy and insurance claims. So this industry is not totally new to me as far as terms etc.

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  ปีที่แล้ว

      Transitioning to remote work can surely offer a lot of flexibility. However, medical coding requires high levels of focus due to the accuracy and productivity needed. While some coders do work from home, it can be challenging to balance this with the demands of watching young children at the same time, as most employers will still expect the same level of performance. Many employers have explicit rules about not caring for other individuals while you are clocked in and require them to be at daycare or watched by someone else. That said, with your previous experience in pharmacy and insurance claims, you already have a strong foundation for this field. I suggest exploring different options and seeing what could best fit your needs. All the best with your journey!

    • @ContempoCoding

      The choice between the instructor-led and self-paced options for the AAPC CPC course depends on your learning style and schedule. If you prefer a structured experience with interaction and feedback, go for the instructor-led option. For more flexibility and independent study, choose the self-paced option. Consider your needs and preferences to make the best decision for your success in the CPC course and medical coding career. Good luck in your learning journey! 😊

I'm passionate about wanting to work as a mental health therapist, but I'll need a good job to take care of my daughter for the few years as I finish schooling.
    I am definitely very analytical, organized & I love technical information & puzzles. That healthcare analyst type of position that you described earlier (using patient data to draw conclusions about health trends) sounds soo fun but I don't know anything about it. Talk about feeling like you’re a fish out of water as the class never once discussed that program. Does anyone have any advice on how to best learn that program? Thank you in advance, I’m trying my best to succeed in this position and feel pretty helpless.

      Preppy offers eBooks, which is where the industry is moving towards. I actually just did an interview with the VP of Products and Services at the AAPC and she spoke about how they're piloting the eBooks for exams and it seems we're moving in that direction -- just not there quite yet. Preppy does offer you the option to purchase the paper books for examination purposes since we're still transitioning over the adoption of digital tools in the industry. If you have any further questions or concerns, reach out to help@preppy.org, they have an amazing customer service team that can help you out.

My doubt is that the CPC exam I have taken in India is valid in USA? and can you help me in finding out which coding specialist is having good pay. Can you make a video for international coders who are yet to come to USA and do coding. Is CCS better? like which one have more opportunities AAPC or AHIMA? If i am certified from AHIMA can I get jobs related to AAPC?? Can you please help me out.

    I’ve noticed a lot of verbiage used suggests that this career path slants heavily toward females. Do males have a chance in this career path as well?

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely, males definitely have a place in the medical coding field! While it's true that healthcare professions, including medical coding, have historically been female-dominated, the skills required for coding-attention to detail, understanding of medical terminology, and proficiency in coding systems-are not gender-specific. Many men have successful careers in medical coding and contribute valuable perspectives to the field. Gender should not be a barrier to entry or success in this profession. So if you're interested, I'd say go for it!

    What is the difference between CPC and CPB?

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and Certified Professional Biller (CPB) are both essential certifications in the field of medical billing and coding, but they focus on different aspects of the healthcare revenue cycle. A CPC is primarily trained in accurate medical coding for healthcare diagnoses, procedures, and services, ensuring that medical codes are applied correctly for physician offices, health systems, and similar settings. They are crucial for ensuring compliance and optimization of revenue. On the other hand, a CPB's expertise lies in managing the billing process, submitting claims, following up with insurance companies, and addressing payment issues. This role is vital for maintaining the financial health of healthcare providers by securing timely reimbursements and handling patient billing inquiries. While there is overlap, each certification targets a unique angle of medical practice management and financial flow.

    • @ContempoCoding

      That depends entirely on the workload assigned but most coders work 8 hours a day. There is a continual amount of work as patients are seen, so the work is never "completed."

I moved to US a few month ago and while i am waiting for my residency process to be completed, I thought of getting into Coding feild . Therefore I registered for CPC . I passed medical terminology , anatomy and pathophysiology recently with 98.22.
    My next program starts on Sep,2,2023 . I have no experience with coding . Therefore.before starting of course I would like to get some idea and be ready to learn better . I hope you can give me some hint to be a good adult learner in coding course as well

Congrats on your recent achievements in medical terminology, anatomy, and pathophysiology. Since you've already got a strong foundation, diving into coding will be a great next step for you. To prepare, I'd recommend familiarizing yourself with coding guidelines and maybe even trying out some coding exercises before your course starts. Good luck, and I'm sure you'll excel in your upcoming CPC program! 😊
