host fatima has her friend umm talha, founder of marital arts a Muslim woman's organization trying to help marraiges, worked in home schooling, studied tajwid, spouse studied in Medina university, has an Islamic preschool!
sister says its romantic your husband is your mentor, propsed in 01. she wanted someone who can teach and not get into wrong group. and he helped her study in Egypt, sheikh of jeddah was there. says when she teaches she gives deeds to her teachers. Masha Allah she said southern and northern bengalis don't get married, i never heard of it. she said shes from north and hes from south. and said hadith is to Marry for din, its blessing you! Shes active in east london!
came to london at 5 or 6 in 85. her dad became ill and went back to Bangladesh to live last days, he passed away in 87 in Bd. she grew up as an orphan. 3 girls and 1 boy, mom widow in 30s. nothing like having a father. even Prophet peace and blessings on him grew up as an orphan made them empathy. says if someone is genuinely interested in your life they think you want good, its like a great trust. says she can help others when she can seek help. Fatima's mom's dad died before she was born. says you can't be spoiled as an orphan. you end up at others service at young age.
10,00 - umm talha went to weekly halaqa introduced by her friend, but now she teaches there and through the halaqa she met her spouse. halaqa started in 99. fatima says doing something weekly is important to refocus, rethink about Allah! umm talha says bros have jumma and many sisters can't so there needs to be a time for sisters. Prophet peace and blessings be upon him used to give time for the women! says shes been invovled in different dawa but home is an important space and if that is healthy and Islamic it develops everyone, says its head mother and wife needs to be taken care of and who takes care of her. says she takes care of her like the older sister. as saying goes don't be a candle that burns itself. her organization helps this. says the cirlce & halaqa refuels them! it sounds like a lifeline (sounds like a hard week).
ppl underest. great marriage, ppl think its just perfect ppl, but its hard work the host reminds! sister says having healthy marraige is like a healthy weight its something that takes regular input! Even Prophet peace and blessings on him marriage had conflicts. don't be in a rush to run to d word of j word(?). Many sister think they can't manage problems, sometimes marriage isn't the problem, she goes through her own personal issue. she gave advice to take care of yourself and she said i took care of myself and my marriage life got better. marriage isn't just about their relationship together but their relationship with themselves as an individual and woman should look inward as they project tbh.
20,30 - try to analyze why there are problems, before divorcing. so marital arts is to reassess. they do ramadan events, dazzle and dine and hajj and regular halaqa!
says theres self care, relationship and parenting. get into self well being! ( a Person self taken care of sees the world differently then someone unsure) whatever she does will reflected , she will be conscious parent present wife etc. like airplane scenario, take care of yourself and parent instinct says take care of others.
Surah Tahrim, save yourself and then your family from the fire. fatima was reading biography of michelle obama. she talked about her marriage. even though she seesm happy she talks marraige counseling and she had her own issues but expected her marriage to fix and blame others! spend time doing things you need to do, it will make you feeled forfilled and feel better in other relationship. says its a need and you need to make time! in Muslim community there is a sense of guilt if you do for yourself (sufism?) simetimes halaqa helps them talk to friends and says women like to talk to women and they need emotional companionship days love has different compartments! friends and children is different then spouse and says all are important! says girls together can talk about things that are different! got to make time. says despite london is big city ppl are lonely.
30,00 - Sister may want man to spend time and time is limited due to work! says others liek gfs and good Muslim sisters can help, says its a need and they feel guilty not being with kids! umm talha says give yourself time and fatima says don't need to be a martyr, lolz! umm talha says theres wedding emphasis and divorce couceling but how about whats in between! how to strengthen and nurture the relationship! says share recipe! taking guideline from Quran and Sunnah, and communication! how to build from beginning, compassion in marriage!
5 love languages, express love! book by gary chaplain christian and alot of teaching is in congruence to Quran and Sunnah. there are 5 , how communicate love! how do i feel love? Says each person has 1 or 2 dominant, and the rest are recessive!
one of her love language is gifts! others may not like it so its a blind spot. Prophet peace and blessings be upon him said give gifts and it will spread love. another is acts of service so that can help ppl appreciate it.
    1. is words of affirmation! - i love you, its special etc. Prophet peace and blessings be upon him said he expressed his Love about Aisha, and then said Her Father, tying it to her!
    2. spend time, quality time, not phone time. Prophet peace and blessings be upon him used to turn his whole body when talking to people!
    3. (gift givings)
40,00 - 4. Kidma or acts of service, key to happy marriage is to be a team and make them feel special on the other end, make them feel dependant so they can't live without you (really? just don't make it literal) says one can attend to a husband when arrival then they want to listen! sister um talha says this works for me! then said if she needs to go out then the spouse is more happy to give into. its just human nature.
    5. Is physical touch. its sacred between spouses. a companion said when we get intimate do we get a reward, he said yes, if you were to do it sinfully you would get a sin. intimacy in marraige is something highlighted, bed of roses! says one can be prudish but it has to be taken care of and problems can be from spouses feel unforfilled! fatima says its a gift from life.
and she says divorce is not being demonized and it may be needed! says it wants it to be last resort and says to take problems out of marriage in our generation it would be really bad! says family may not want them to split. says a person can have a bad day and then fight and then next day ask what its about (the other spouse may remember). so does going outside make it worse. Umm talha said satan in his sermons says those who break up marraiges says you are the one , because it opens up families to vices! says in her councel they saved 3 marraiges! says don't break marriage in first calamity, and in this society ppl are so pro divorce and sisters friends are so pro divorce (sometimes because they are lonley and single and make there girlfriend there husband acc. to some)
50,00 - marriages can have a good wider part in society, and communities are strong because family through marriages are strong! says sometimes ppl they reach out to in relationships they reach out to wrong ppl. and sister um talha says be mindful of who you tell, who can have your best interest at heart and able! keep it in confidence! it shouldnt be a tabloid where they don't care and just get a judgement, and if you stay what if you are viewed in a negative way. there are some things that can't be unsaid! and this can prevent moving on and now pushes counter productively and wanting to break a now stable marraige later on. think carefully on who to consult! mufsed (breaker vs rectifier) musleh.. um talha says saving a marriage saves a community (similar to saving a life saves humanity) kids can see marraiges as bad! they get a positive light and learn its optimizing good! girls in the event said we should start to think about marraige when she was 14 , sees how powerful it is! we have human needs and see it can be halal in marraige and sing its "praises" bwa ha.
says sometimes when a mom is a mom forgets she used to be a wife! still be an individual too. balance is key to success. talk about hadith of salman farisi and abu darda, he saw his wife shabby and asked what went on. she said your friend has no need for me, this was before hijab. Salman went to his house and said i won't eat until you eat. and then during the night told him to sleep until the last 1/3. then said your Lord, body and family has right for you. Abu Darda went to Prophet peace and blessings be upon him said , Salman spoke the truth!
1,10,00 - balance is key! Islam isn't about being a hermit, bwaha. Allah is beautiful and Loves beauty! says even women who practice should embrace feminity and this can have a good balancing effect on their daughters! and this is good modeling, time to pray and learn and socialize etc. Balance was given by Prophet peace and blessings on him! sometimes they were serious sometimes they had a good time! says there used to be good aunties, now that kind of role. even Prophet peace and blessings be upon him got a proposal from Nafisa who was confided in by Khadija Radiyallahu anha. There should be a musleha a mender!
last advice from umm talha is try to be a marriage mender. Fatima makes dua and shows end!
WA Aleikum Asalam wa Rahmtulah wa Barakatuh

@@FatimaBarkatulla The genuine advice given regarding marriage, it's open honest yet positive stance. Women do not realise how difficult marriage can be "in general" it's the day to day, mundanity, routine, loneliness, these things are never discussed yet are so so so important to discuss because we are all experiencing them at some point in our marriage, it's trying to work through these difficult moments "seeing the light at the end of the tunnel moment" that needs to be discussed. Hope I make sense, I am currently a stay at home mom of 3, youngest is 1 and I love my children with all my heart and soul, yet experiencing "losing myself" but I know with experience this is a passing moment, it won't last forever, I'm quite a strong person and remind myself "this to shall pass" JazakAllah x

Alhamdulilah I found the podcast really beneficial.
The point about making self care a priority. And that as a woman our role in the house is to care for others, but that also includes caring for ourself. I know it’s such a simple statement but when you’re overwhelmed with the day to day tasks, to hear that really soothes the heart.
Also the point about growing up without a father and how that created a desire/builder empathy towards others. I believe this to be so true after my mum passed away (Allah yarhamha)I ‘feel’ the pain of others now in a more deeper level. I just never knew how to word it. Subhan Allah.
Also the point about sisterhood and feeling isolated/lonely. Subhan Allah all mothers (to young children) that I know feel this. I liked the action point to go out your way and contact others and not wait for them to contact you. This is something that will be completely out of my comfort zone but perhaps this is what Allah wants me to do so I don’t feel so isolated. In Sha Allah khayr.
One sister who also watched the podcast told me that it made her feel more sane again Subhan Allah and said she will be making Du’a for you and your family.
May Allah bless you and accept it from you and Sr Fatima ❤️

Aslamalakum sisters, jazakallah khayr for this video. Could you please discuss what you do in sister halaqas?
I started a small group chat with fellow sisters since I have met fellow Muslim sisters which felt like there was no beneficial Muslim groups that they can turn to who focus solely on Islam. I am from the U.S. and at university, I have been to two colleges and I am at my third university and the Muslim Student Associations here are lacking in so many aspect, they encourage mixing between genders and focus on playing games rather than focusing on learning about Islam, may Allah guide us all, so I wanted to form a group where sisters can come together in a nonjudgemental environment, connect, and learn about their deen together. I want to come together beyond the group chat so that as you said, we can form sister halaqas where it is a habit, but what can we do during sister halaqas? I was born Muslim and I am trying to gain knowledge in my deen, I just recently started wearing the niqab alhamdulillalah, but I am not a scholar and I am not an expert in any way so what can I do?
This is long but inshallah you will read it, jazakallah khayr again sisters, I will make dua for your wellbeing inshallah
