Sticks most of his floor skills, slips on the stairs, you love to see it. Watching you on floor is such a cool new development! Congratulations Rhys! Hope to see you in a final soon!
Congratulations on meeting this formidable challenge. It took a lot of courage and perseverance to get to where you are and I applaud you unreservedly!!
Thanks for posting this Rhys, I'm gong through my first mental block and it's horrible. To know even the best go through it just like I am really helps ❤
So impressed that you keep setting new goals for yourself! In a future video, I would love to learn more about how you support yourself. I know you get funding from team Ireland and the Patreon but do you have other sources of income?
Omg I knew you were gonna slip climbing the stairs! Former professional ballet dancer here. Ballet dancers can do phenomenal feats, but then we’ll trip while just walking down the street. lol. Your work ethic is inspiring. Rooting for you all the way!
been watching your videos for years now (since you became european pommel champion I think) and always enjoyed them, but this one in particular was really pleasant and motivational (maybe a new/ more polished editing style ?). Thank you for this, wish you all the best with your gymnastics !
Look at you sticking all those landings (been watching since 2020 Olympics, which wound up taking place in 2021)! Bravo! 👏🏼 You seem much happier w/ a new challenge to focus on, like a puzzle to solve. Appreciate the progessions you go through to build up each segment to upgrade your routine. Looking forward to seeing where you take it next.
Amazing! I think the exacting precision and attention to detail you pay into PH is serving you well when applied to FX. Might there be additional events in your future? I seem to recall seeing you do a vault recently ;).
That's so cool to hear Rhys! Excited to see you finally competing that routine internationally. I'm sure you guys are extra careful with injuries, but please be mindful of squeezing out extra twists, especially later on in the routine. There's been too many ACL tears and ankle problems because of this. When you mentioned upgrades, I thought you might start working on doing a double twist into the punch double front flip, though obviously you would then have to do something else for your 5th tumbling pass. Anyway, I'm curious to see what you guys put in the routine next year!
So take that side pass and do a triple full instead of a double...then end the routine with either a double layout or a double front piked...there is a spot where you jump into the corner you could do a stag jump or split leap to show flexibility, I know they don't give points for it and it's really old school but it looks nicer than a simple jump and give that routine a little "je ne sais quoi".....why aren't you doing flairs on floor, or a magyar????
Yeah, skill vs. speed sports present very different challenges. Gymnasts need to fail in the best way possible, while speed athletes need to put in the hard labor. Both face technical issues of body parts placement. This looks to me like Rhys Mcclanagan is failing very well.

2023 Sportsperson of the Year in Ireland, fantastic achievement 🥂🍾🎄

I remember seeing your first floor session here on TH-cam! You’ve come so far- Well done Rhys!

I would love see a quadruple back somersault and a quintuple twist. Rhys, you are an inspiration.
Absolutely awesome!
Amazing, thank you!
