I grew up near this park and had a season pass every year. It truly is a magical place. There used to be a fun rope swing directly across the lake from the main swimming area. I remember me and my buddies bought a huge float in the shape of a giant hand and we would often swim all over this lake. We had some fun times there in the mid 1990's. We need to get back there and go camping! Thank you for the video it brought back great memories!

@@rvamericayall We absolutely did - thanks to your awesome video! The park is gorgeous with several RV sites overlooking the lake. There are plenty of tent campsite and a good number of them have a lakeview. We also enjoyed the hiking and biking trails around the park. I was able to recognize all the interesting tidbits you shared during the video and that definitely added to experiencing the history of the park in person. Tyler state park is a hidden gem and just 2 hours from Dallas. Can't wait to get back there again!

Also one of my favorite of the state parks . And their shelters are the best. My hometown is 70 miles from the park so go very often. I lived in Tyler for 2 years while having chemo there at TMF Hospital. While not able to be around people so much, I used to attend church services there at the park on Sunday mornings and never had to leave my car! Another of my faves is Ft. Parker State Park. We have so many wonderful state parks here in Texas. Thank you so much for your videos.

    • @rvamericayall

Since I am new to the channel, I’ve been checking out some of your older videos. We lived very near Tyler SP before moving to Lufkin. One of my faves and did a lot of mountain biking there over the years. Imagine my surprise seeing two of my good friends in your video of the Dutch oven cookout. The two guys with long gray beards.......Charlie and Marvin. Glad y’all enjoyed it. I love Tyler SP and the cookout was always awesome. Happy camping.

Were there in October and stayed in Lakeview camping loop. Really enjoyed this park...it’s very pretty and definitely worth a return visit. On return trip we stopped at Daingerfield State Park which is also very pretty. Got the last lakeside spot there so we could enjoy another great waterfront spot. Enjoy your videos.

Toured the park in early Aug. Was looking for a select spot to truck tent camp with a sunrise or sun view. Unfortunately, all spots I wanted were taken. Did tour thru park, hiked small sections. Was disappointed in the. OVERLOOK , like you said, trees probably weren't as heavy.
Liked shelters except for no dawn/ dusk view. All in all though, liked Park & it will stay in interested file.
    Thanks for the video.
Think you just left Nebraska area, looking forward to new blogs. Drive safe.

Re the rubber base at the playground and "feels safe" ... As someone who use to ride in the back of an open truck, rode motorcycles and had a BB-gun I had to chuckle when you said that. I don't know how some of us survived before the government started "protectin' us" from ourselves. Truth be told, if I got out more and did more of those things today I'd be less heavy and more healthy. Love y'all's channel. Didn't see Grammy Kay in this one but I've got the computer on autoplay and this looks like an older vid. Safe travels, y'all!
Edited to add: I see you got yourselves a couple of the Dutch oven stands (there on the picnic table at the end). I use those for setting my lids on when I'm checking on the food and as well for setting the oven on, on the table for self-serve. Love cooking in cast iron and (like many) I'm protective of my iron. LOL. (Humor: "Get that Dawn dish soap AWAY from my iron! Be gone! Be gona ya' till you can unner'stand that soap has but a VERY TEENY TINY role in the lives of cast iron cooking." ROFL!) It's kind of funny but over the years the only folk I've met who are uncomfortable with cast iron cooking were the germophobes. I've never gotten sick from food prepared on/in my iron - but I have gotten sick eating at a fast food restaurant before. LOL. 😂 Grammy Kay is old school... She most likely understands where I'm coming from. Again, safe travels. Love you two's channel.

LOL Michael... ain't that the truth! :) . It seems incredible that any of us survived. LOL This is one of our older vids, but we really enjoyed our visit to Tyler State Park. It's a beautiful park.

We love this park one of our vaporizes we visited it in Nov of 2017 for Thanksgiving holiday, it was very nice we wish we had brought our kayaks with us as we figured t would have been too cold. We have hiked all the trails there, and I have biked one of the trails. The raccoons are busy and not afraid of people in the look you stayed at.

RV Texas Y'all hi guys! Purtis Great was really nice. Much flatter than Tyler for hiking but much smaller, only 59 sites. We hiked the short trail and had to carry our chihuahua Gracie the last bit lol. My son caught his first fish, a 3lbs bass. We’re so blessed in Texas to have so many great parks! Hey, we are curious where you guys got those water bottle carriers? Really cool!

So far, you guys have not been to a park that I dont want to follow you to. Some folks I watch go to some Real cramped rv parks.. look more like RV parking lots. This is a special place. OOOooo cooking demonstration? yes please! Is it legal to skip to the end of the table and just go straight to desert? Goodness, look at that hill... were you sore? This park is beautiful in the fall. What a Wonder walk along the water!

Love your videos showing the individual sites... How long is your unit with and without vehicle hooked up??? Ours is 44 ft without a 10 ft back deck.. Not easy for state parks.. Just have driven thru this park in the past but since then upsized. lol Its a beauty of a park as I remember...

    • @rvamericayall
      @rvamericayall  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks Melody! Our motorhome is 35’. With the Jeep attached, we’re about 50’ long. You’re right, the longer you are, the tougher it is to get in and around in some of the parks. According to the Tyler State Park website, they can accomodate RVs up to 50 feet in the Big Pine Camping Loop (where we were).

  • @marielogue9665

We love the Texas state parks! And this is one of our favorites! But it’s becoming everybody’s favorites and now on the weekends you can only book if you book Friday and Saturday. We recently tried to get in there for a Thursday and Friday and were told we had to book Thursday Friday and Saturday if we wanted to be there Thursday and Friday. Due to how busy this places they’ve changed their policy to that. It is not a 2 day reservation but a fri. And Saturday. We still love this Park!

We camped there when our children were under 12. Now they are over 30. We boiled eggs by coating then in mud. We enjoyed the lake in our Wildflower. We also went back this spring and it was wall to wall RV's. Not nearly as much fun.

Great PSA. We are encountering more places covered in trash, especially on BLM land. I had campsites where we filled a contractors bag full of trash. I grew up being taught to leave a place cleaner than you found it, but just how much time do I want to commit to cleaning up after pigs.
